We came to watch the game during brunch but the food was not good... I think other reviews are pretty misleading. Did we get them at a bad time? Maybe.. The burrito was small and cold, mimosas were mainly syrup, and the skillet had no flavor. I do not recommend this place for brunch. The starters and lunch looks okay, but portions are small considering the price. The wait staff is incredibly nice, and service is good. They also have plenty of TV's for any game you may want to watch.

4.6* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 5* Service: 4* Would I go back / Recommend?: 5* (Definitely) Total check/person: $30 06/25/2025 Quick update following another great stop for dinner with my wife, son and Grandson. This time, we took advantage of the Tendies & Pitchers Wednesdays - and what a great value! My wife and I both ordered the Pound of Chicken Tenders & Chips, but with different dipping sauces (see picture). As we've come to expect at Barn Town, they were delicious - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Of the dipping sauces we tried, my favorite was the Hot Honey...but they were all pretty good. If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow.

Had brunch at this location today and couldn't be happier. The service was top notch and the food was absolutely amazing. Combine that with the rustic decor and it makes for a pretty darn good time! Keep up the good work, and your server Blake was terrific!

Outstanding Experience Onion Haystack was great! Their cider was great had cinnamon roll and Carmel Green Apple.

Service Awesome! 40 min wait turned into 25 min. I would recommend outing of any kind and enjoy.

Today's experience was definitely better than my first visit. I tried the Bacon and Brie Burger and LOVED it!!!! The combination accentuated by the balsamic reduction and the pretzel bun was impressive. Service was so good on this visit. My only negative remark is how cold the interior is during the winter. With cement floors and cold surfaces it was uncomfortable. I noticed many diners kept their coats on.

I've had their beers at a few places around town (mainly The Hall), so I thought I'd stop back in and give them another chance. I'm glad I've gone back in, because every experience has been better than my initial visit... The sours are amazing! On Sunday, I had the HawaiIowan Punch and the Peach Pie Drips. The punch tasted just like the stuff your mom used to serve your after-school friends. You couldn't taste the alcohol, which is both good and bad. With all the praise I'm heaping on this particular beer it was outshined by the Peach Pie Drips. This beer had the perfect balance of graham cracker, vanilla, cinnamon, and peach flavor. I bought a 4-pack of it to take home with me. I gave one to a friend (begrudgingly) because he drove on a business trip. He was equally impressed. I'm sad that apparently I had the last beer out of the keg. I hope they just meant they needed to brew more--and not that its disappearing. The service has been perfunctory on every visit and the fries I had on my most recent visit were both plentiful for $4 and seasoned appropriately.

Incredibly amazing sours, we come for the flights and stay for the seasonal burgers and desserts!!! Eagerly awaiting their s'mores desserts return. They're always staying up to date with trends rn as they have Dubai chocolate treats rn as I post! The service has been AMAZING. Everytime we've been here, they're incredibly patient, answer all the questions for on draft beers and the service is speedy to have food arriving at our tables. All of the food comes out hot and amazing and you'll for certain have food to take home!! Only let down is incredibly loud - obviously nothing they can do about that, however if you're sitting down with family and friends to have conversations know that the bar is your best bet, as the main seating you will have to yell!

It's witchcraft. I don't know how to explain it. Every sour tastes exactly like the name implies. Black Forest cake... if you had the cake you know The flavor. Apple cider donut... Apple based cake donut rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Raspberry cheesecake... yup, you guessed it. Raspberry cheesecake. Also, the food is great, the staff are amazing, and the atmosphere is lively. If you are in Des Moines you need to go here, it's a moral imperative.

We love the variety of beer on tap. Always up for a great stout. Currently they have their cicada killer on tap. They also have the one with adjunct. This time around it had hazelnut, coffee and chocolate. Talk about flavor. I got the one with adjuncts and my companion got the regular one. It did need a few minutes to open up once I got mine. It was delicious. Right now they have "pre-picked" flights. One was iPad and one was "fair selection" of sours. You can still also create your own flight. So many choices.....and unfortunately (at least me) I can only drink so many beers in a visit. Most beers are available in can form to go. Some go super fast, so if you want a new release head there right away

The patio is much quieter than the inside. Nicely shaded too but still hot with the weather we had. Glad we chose the patio though as it was a better place for conversation. Staff were very busy but maintained great hospitality and attention. This is probably the best wedge salad I've ever had. Loved the fixings! Fascinating drink list had something for everyone (except maybe a stout).

This is by far our favorite Des Moines brewery. The staff are always friendly, the sour beers are always amazing and the food is wonderful. It is a little loud in the restaurant, but it still feels cozy and fun.

    Actual inside temperature!

I had a Neon IPA, 2 actually and they were wonderful! We had cheese curds, onion stack and shared the 55 burger! Food was very good! If the kitchen doubled fried the homemade French fries they would have been crispier! Biggest issue we had was it was really cold inside! See picture of the thermostat!

I hadn't been to Barn Town in a while, but a old co-worker and I decided to get together a few nights ago and Barn Town is near where he lives in Waukee. We arrived at about 400 PM. The menu had completely changed since the last time I'd sat at one of their tables. I ordered the bulgogi cheesesteak with over roasted brussel sprouts and an iced tea, My friend ordered the crab rangoon flatbread and an iced tea. Service was great! We got seated right away, our drinks came fast and were refilled regularly. Our server checked on us throughout the meal. The food hit the table after a relatively short wait. I had questioned to myself if a comfort food centric place like Barn Town should be serving a Korean fusion dish like a bulgogi beef cheesesteak with kimchi... Isn't that a little outside of their wheelhouse? Maybe... Was it absolutely delicous? YES! It was. One of the better sandwiches I've had recently in the metro. One I'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting Barn Town. Would I make a special trip just for this sandwich? I think I would. Good food and service! I should probably get over here a little more often... Our bill was just over $40 before tip. And if you are a veteran Barn Town does offer a 10% veteran's/military discount. https://www.barntownbrewing.com/

Tonight we started by sharing a Pretzel & Beer Cheese appetizer (see picture). While I don't often order pretzels, this was a great combination of texture (soft / tearable) and flavor (buttery with tasty seasonings) that I really enjoyed! For dinner, my wife ordered Traditional Wings (see picture) while I opted for the Oh No! burger (see picture). While we both enjoyed the wings, sweet potato fries and a side order of tots, we both found the burger to be well done and a bit on the dry side to our tastes.

A group of 4 of us met for lunch on a pleasant day in late May, and sat on the nice, covered patio. It was a bit windy out there, but it's a nice setting. We got our drink orders in and got them quickly, and ordered our food. We had about 10 minutes to chat before our food arrived. Presentation was good on everything and it was all hot and fresh. We were missing one protein added for a salad, and it came out quickly. Everything was very good. I opted for the lunch combo special with a 1/2 Club Sandwich and a Poblano Soup. The soup was pretty good and the club was excellent. My wife got the chili and the Kale Salad combo. Our host for lunch got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with Brisket Mac and Cheese. Our final diner got the Funny Bird. She was the only one who didn't finish her meal, so I guess I'd have to suggest the lunch specials as a good way to get enough for lunch without having leftovers! Service was very good and it was a great experience overall.

This place delivers serious Chicago bar vibes in the best way possible…read more Service? On point. Our glasses were never empty, and the staff checked in just enough to feel attentive without hovering. Now let's talk food, because it slaps. The onion rings are the real deal. Proper onion rings. Perfect batter-to-onion ratio, no sad, hollow rings here. The jalapeño poppers are equally legit, crispy breading, creamy filling, and just the right kick. And the wings? On a whole different level. Plump, meaty, and absolutely delicious. Sunday special: 20 wings for $22. That's not a deal, that's a public service. If you like great food, solid service, and classic Chicago bar energy, this spot delivers across the board.

Fortunately, they came through and put the game on several screens for us to watch during our visit. We started with an order of Onion Rings (see picture) - and they were the best onion rings I've had in many years. They were uniformly battered, uniformly fried to nice, crispy light brown color, and most importantly - a slightly crunchy onion inside that bit off cleanly so that you could dip it again! The picture itself does pretty good justice on their quality - and the dipping sauce was quite tasty also! For dinner, my wife ordered the Low Carb Beef Bowl w/ Pepperjack cheese & Rice (see picture) and I went with the Classic Wings split between Lemon Pepper Dry Rub and Mango Habanero sauce (see picture). We both really enjoyed the Low Carb Beef Bowl, finding it just as tasty as the name implies (all of the peppery zing of an Italian Beef with a melted cheese top - with rice replacing the bun). I was admittedly a bit disappointed with the wings, especially given the award-winning claims in the menu. My first impression and comment to my wife was that they were quite small in size. Secondly, while they tasted reasonably moist and tender, as the picture shows - they appeared to be dried out / overcooked...with meat pulling away from the bone. The Mango Habanero wings had very little spice given their name and very little sauce, with some barely wet and essentially none in the serving tray to use to add. While the wings would give me pause before ordering again, we REALLY liked the onion rings and everything else that we've ordered has been above average. The other thing I enjoy is their reasonable selection of craft beers (really liked the Chicago local Cold Time) as well as the unique cocktails. This is a solid stop.

For our meals, my wife ordered the Chicago Beef (see picture) and I opted for the Mediterranean Bowl (see picture). As we always do, we shared our plates.
