The food at saints is some of the best food i've had in my life. We always start off with the jumbo pretzel and then I usually get the cajun chicken pasta or the loco wrap and my boyfriend always gets the shrimp tacos. You won't find food this good anywhere else in town. Service is always great and they do a wonderful job at keeping the place clean and eveyone is so helpful as soon as you walk through the door. We've been here too many times to count. There is nothing overly special about this sports bar. It's a staple of Waukee. Food is fine. Drinks are fine. TVs all around. It could use a makeover in my opinion. Time for some new chairs, tables etc. The patio is real nice when the weather is favorable. This place has pretty okay food and pretty bad service. Came on a Saturday night and the place was fairly busy, but then waited over an hour for our food, only for our plates to come out burning hot and soggy food as though they've been under the warmer for 20 minutes. Our appetizer also came out about 10 minutes after the entree and our server took about 15 minutes to pick up our check to pay. Meanwhile, theres 2 servers standing by a dirty table just staring at people, weird vibes. As someone in the service industry there were so many avoidable frustrations. We stopped here for an early dinner after golfing and both enjoyed our meals (see pictures). The Saturday college football games were on the multiple TVs and we enjoyed sitting at an outside table. I ordered the Blackened Salmon and my wife ordered the Shrimp Tacos - the salmon was moist and tasty and the shrimp tacos were spicy and delicious. Although the salmon was cooked to near perfection, I especially enjoyed the rice...not sure if it was a special variety or just cooked to the shorter end of the range, but it was plump and also firm. Food was great! Everyone I was with liked what they ordered, and there's good variety on the menu. Typical bar and grill atmosphere, so don't expect much for ambience. Service was not good. Located at the end of an "L" shaped strip, Saints has a lot to offer. Inside or outside seating. A broad selection of alcoholic beverages, etc. it is a decent "go-to" bar. The only change I would make is to have more local beer on tap aside from Exile. I didn't eat do I can't say anything about the food. read more

It seems to be kind of a hit or miss. The food is actually pretty good "bar" food. The pub nachos, chicken poblano dip, and beer cheese apps are pretty awesome. Sometimes I have an under enthusiastic bar tender, like today, who made my moscow mules pretty much pure ice. Other days the bar tenders are super nice and don't screw you on your drinks. If I am paying $8-9 for a moscow mule, please give me more than a few swigs and ice. read more

Had a hankering for a hot beef sandwich and after perusing a local delivery companies options I settled on Saint's. Definitely did not settle one of the best hot beef sandwiches I've had in a very long time. The accompanying potatoes were delicious as well they had bits of the red skin in them which I loved. The beef wasn't a slice of deli meat which I was very thankful to see it had roast beef. The gravy was just right and not salty! My only deduction would be the amount of roast beef on the sandwich being a bit skimpy the bread to meat ratio wasn't too my liking I will just say it was good and I wanted more. Three of us stopped in for dinner and drinks and were lucky enough to get a patio table on a nice spring evening in Iowa. Server came right to our table, and was efficient and checked in with us a few times while we were dining. My friend got a margarita which I sampled and it was one of the better ones I've had in the DSM area. He also got a tenderloin, and while it wasn't the best he said he'd had, it was pretty good. I went with the grilled buffalo chicken sandwich and asked that they not skimp on the wing sauce, and they gave me plenty on the sandwich, and a dipping side a tno additional charge (many places have charged for that in my experience). The fries were nicely cooked and crisp. The Mrs. got a BBQ chicken pizza, and I got to finish it off for lunch the next day. I love this place. Great food and great service. I have been in the restaurant and sat down to eat twice and we've gotten take out from there multiple times. I always get their buffalo chicken sandwich which is my go to saying when I go to a restaurant, the sandwiches mostly good but there is a part of every sandwich that is kind of hard. Their fries are great. And again the service is amazing. I wouldn't suggest going there with a big crowd though, because the tables take up a lot of room so it's hard to maneuver around in the restaurant. Stopped by here tonight to watch the Cyclones game with some friends and it turned out to be quite fun. We got there a little before the game started so that we could get a table since the Cubs game was also on the same night. We got served right away and our pitcher of beer was brought out in a timely manner too. My friend ordered the fried pickles so I stole a couple and they were pretty tasty. There were plenty of tvs with several games playing and our waiter was also nice enough to change the tv near us to the game we wanted to watch. This was my second visit to Saints in Waukee. The first visit I had their version of the the Big Mac and two beers. The burger was dry and unflavorful. I had to ask for more special sauce to give the thing something other then the flavor of sawdust. The fries were cold, limp, and full of old grease. I ate maybe three and left the rest. The beers were cold. Hard to mess up bottled beer. On my second visit I was with a group and kind of trapped. After my third Tito's and tonic I complained to the bartender myself. "There's no alcohol in this drink" She gave a dirty look kind and said nothing. I then mentioned it to our server who was a little more understanding. But the same bartender was still pouring drinks. I would have left not paying my bill, but like I said kinda trapped so I decided to see where this would go. My guess is someone at the bar over indulge on Tito's and the patrons are paying the price of watered down Tito's. That or the bar tenders have no clue how to make drinks. After 15 drinks I was not even buzzed... Not slightly not at all... Sad that's for sure and I should have needed an Uber to get home. I had the chicken tenders on this visit and the were drier then a mouth full of sand and about as flavorful. Ranch couldn't help. After being taken for $85(the cost of other then well vodka) on drinks I'm not sure I will ever return. I really hate being ripped off. I've been here a few times for a quick drink or bite. Tonight was a longer visit as we came to watch the Cubs game. We only had beers so it's hard to rate on that, but we had a very sweet, very attentive, fantastic server, Itzel, that I wanted to give a shout out to. Second time dining Saints, Waukee location. Tonight carry-out was good. We each had the summer chicken & strawberry salad. Nicely arranged eye catching, colorful and tasty salad. Only things to carry this up a notch would have been to caramelize pecans in sugar and add more strawberries and another fruit such as blueberries or halved fresh grapes. The balsamic vinaigrette is good but try whisking up your own to make it even more unique. read more

We really wanted to like Saint's. Bad. There aren't too many choices for a nice, casual dinner in Waukee and this is close to our house. And it really is a nice place. Great ambiance, cool bar, patio, lots of HD TV's...but the service and food is just so damn inconsistent. They shortened their menu not too long ago and their food choices are a notch above a typical sports bar, but the food is great one time and the next time takes forever, is cold, thrown together, etc. The service is very spotty too. Waiters often take too long to greet you, don't know the menu, and aren't attentive in general. The wait staff and bartenders seem to turn over frequently. Maybe that's the problem with the kitchen too. This place was great when they opened but for the $40-$50 average spent here for a couple of drinks and sandwiches it's just not worth wondering what you'll get. Its still a fun place to meet for drinks with friends once in awhile and check it out yourself. But you're better off going across the street to Mickey's or down the street to The Draught House for consistently better food and service. . read more

Great neighborhood pub, with the exception that this one had GOOD food. I love their fish tacos and are served with rice and bean or fries, I have had both and both are very good. My other go to here is their chicken strips and I'm kind of finicky about my chicken strips; these are awesome and the Cajun chicken pasta, homemade and both very good. Service was terrible. First time being to the restaurant nobody greeted us. Come to find out it was seat your self. Found a table and waited almost 25 min. Went to the bar and asked if we were going to be waited on and the guy says sorry we are short staffed. I told the guy I'm surprised management didn't call anyone else in. He told me that nobody could get ahold of management. The entire time we waited I counted only 2 wait staff and 1 bar tender. I don't fault the workers, I actually felt bad for them. I would not go back here again. I have a weekly bike ride for 10-15 people and we like places with patios near the bike trail. This place has that but they do not have any service. We were there last Tuesday night. It took 32 minutes for a server to take our orders after being seated. It took another 15 minutes just get a beer delivered to our table. One in our group had the fish tacos and those looked really nice but when you have to wait so long for service, the quality of the food doesn't seem to matter much. Their food is decent, but during the summer time they sometimes leave open the patio doors and the flies can be brutal. It really detracts from the experience. Our waitress came to the table 10 minutes later for our drink order. About 15 minutes later she came back with drinks and took our order. We waited about 15 minutes for the food. We asked for drink refills and then the waitress disappeared. We were done with our food before we got our refills. Asked for the check and she never came back. The food is always above average. Remember it is bar food. The service can be hit or miss. Tonight it was good. Other nights you have to go to the bar and get your own drinks. My family and I have tried most of the menu and haven't found anything bad yet. The down side is all the Saints have standardized their menus. The only reason I didn't give them four stars was they got rid of the pretzel buns. This is not a bar for a quite evening. There are a lot of TVs with sports on all of them. Absolutely incapable of giving you what you order for a carry out order. We have given them so many chances, but even when they are completely dead they screw it up. It's bacon Mac n cheese, so when I get it home without bacon I'm a little ticked off. Or when my husband asks for the sampler and you completely forget the queso. Or we end up with an entirely different menu item. It is infuriating to have to choose between living with whatever you made it home with or going all the way back to get it fixed.
