Terrible advice and dirty business practices. Made several firearm purchases. Handgun and rifle. I've known people that have worked there for years and I have heard the inside gossip. I've been in this store in the past and as recently as yesterday.I was trying to find a trap gun for my wife,just browsing.I was greeted with a hello as soon as I walked in the door and was asked if I was looking for something in particular.While looking around another employee came up to me and asked if I needed help.I told him I was looking for a used trap gun for my wife.He happened to remember a recent trade in that wasn't out on the floor yet and showed it to me.Just what my wife was looking for. Shameful service to certain "Types" of people. I was cleared by NICS on the spot and asked for one more night to think about before making the purchase. And they guy told me to "Get the !@# out and never come back" (for wasting an hour of his time which was more like making a phone call. The following day I called them at store open time to apologize for my indecisiveness and to let them know that I have agreed to purchase the rifle. He told me that he has too much pride in his business and will not sell it to me for wasting his time. And he asked me to "piss off". I called one more time to apologize one more time to see if they had softened but this time he was absolutely livid, obnoxious and threatened to call the police and told me that he had reported to NICS about me. It is always the customers prerogative to think over a large purchase over night.. no store has the right to treat people in this manner. Do not recommend shopping here. read more

Was in this shop for 45 minutes trying to get someone to help with my safe act questions! Only to get bare minimum answers! If I could give them 0 stars I would! So needless to say I went to Veterans Gun Depot had all my questions answered and spent $1,400 in that shop instead! I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this shop!!! read more

Absolutely disappointed in the quality of service. Do yourself a favor, don't waste your time here. I called them to ask a couple questions because I live over an hour away so I'm not gonna just drive there to ask. I had a few simple questions, "Hi, do you carry a Sig 938?" -"Yep..." -"Okay, well do you have the Rosewood model in stock because if you do, I'll come down and buy it tomorrow?" -"I'm not able to tell you over the phone.." -"... oookay, what's your guys' asking price for the Sig 938s that you do have in stock??" -"We don't do pricing over the phone, you have to come in to ask if you have any questions.." I was completely dumbfounded. Now, a Rosewood Sig Sauer P938 is not a cheap gun mind you! They run anywhere between $775-$850. It wasn't like I was calling, wasting time asking about a little Savage .22 caliber for $150. And I wasn't about to drive down there an hour or more, have them not have it in stock, or say they're charging $850 for it. Not happening! They wanted me to come so they could upsell me. I wasn't even going to waste they're time handling different firearms! I knew what I wanted, and it should have been easy! So needless to say, I went elsewhere, and I'm glad I did! I highly recommend taking your business somewhere else. I ended up going to Frank's Gun shop in Gloversville, NY, the owner took the gun off the shelf held the gun for me over the phone for a day for free! I went there and paid less than $700 for the gun. All-in-all. B&J's aren't what some people crack them up to be. Learn some customer service. read more

They really deserve more than two stars, however I've been there several times and have had both good and bad experiences. You have to understand that when they're busy service won't be perfect. Guns are a tough business, maintaining the stock they have ain't cheap. So prices not being the lowest is ok. One more thing ,I have it on good word that no matter what B&J tells you they and ALL the other gun stores locally are owned by the same people. Prices are fixed and haggeling is impossible. Hate to say it but the last good gun shop was Neudeckers in Troy. Maybe should've given them three stars after all. read more

never buy from a store when the employee refers to an inexperienced customer as an idiot. They are terrible.

Some employees that work there are very knowledgable and willing to take the time to answer all your questions, however, like everywhere some are not that patient. They have a large selection of in-stock guns, holsters, ammo, and even AR-15 pistol lowers that have non-detachable magazines (CMS NY-10) that are a very cool concept but Craig (I believe he is the inventor Pat. pending) used to sell them direct for $169 to the public, but now has an agreement with Brain's store to only sell to him so we are stuck buying from them. They used to be $199 in the Latham store but now that they have the agreement just the lower stripped receiver with a built-in Pmag will run you $299. I would buy any parts from them since they are much much cheaper going to https://palmettostatearmory.com and ordering them directly, you will need to wait for 2-4 weeks (sometimes longer) for your shipment but will save hundreds with a new build. All in all, I would say they are like Best Buy, go to the store, check it out then go buy it online. read more

I have delt with B and J guns also know as American Shooters for about 20 years. I cant even think how much I have spent there...I know of at lease 80 long guns and pistols. My problem is I won a auction from Gun Broker and got a really good deal on it.... so I hade it sent here to do a Transfer got all the paperwork done and they told me it would be 54.00 Fee....Really! 54.00 when everyone is is 20 to 25 dollars....I have to say, they lost my business for good. read more
