What should have been a quick and easy visit turned into one of the most unprofessional retail experiences I've had. While I was waiting, my mom asked an employee who was folding clothes if the store carried any keychains. According to my mom, the employee responded in a way that came across as visibly annoyed and inconvenienced by such a simple question. My mom was upset enough by the interaction that she decided to let the manager know before leaving the store. What happened next was even more disappointing. Instead of handling the situation discreetly, the manager immediately spoke to the employee about the complaint in a way that was audible throughout the store. My partner and I were standing on opposite ends of the store and could hear both sides of the conversation. Since the employees were communicating over their headsets, it appeared that the entire staff could hear the discussion as well. To make matters worse, another employee chimed in and said, "Oh my God, she's so sensitive." Whether that comment was directed at my mom or made in reference to the situation, it was said within earshot of customers and was incredibly unprofessional. Customers should never have to listen to employees discussing or mocking complaints on the sales floor. A manager's responsibility is to deescalate situations and handle customer concerns with professionalism and discretion. This situation was handled in exactly the opposite way. Rather than making the customer feel heard, it created an uncomfortable atmosphere where staff openly discussed a complaint in front of other shoppers. Retail can be stressful, but basic courtesy and professionalism should still be expected. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides better coaching on how customer concerns should be handled moving forward.

They are consistently kind, patient, helpful, and genuinely make shopping there a positive experience. However, the condition of this store is becoming impossible to ignore. Every time we visit, there is a strong unpleasant odor throughout the store. The air feels heavy, humid, and uncomfortable, making it difficult to breathe. What concerns me even more is that the employees almost always sound congested or sick while working in the store. The last time I visited, I happened to run into one of the employees during her lunch break in the food court. Outside of the store environment, her voice sounded completely different--clear and healthy. That experience made me even more concerned about the air quality and overall working conditions inside the store. As a loyal customer, I am disappointed that this issue appears to have gone unaddressed for so long I am surprised no one has reached out to OSHA. Carter's should be taking better care of its employees. They are the primary reason my family continues to shop at this location, and it is frustrating to see them working in conditions that seem unhealthy and uncomfortable. I am honestly surprised that these conditions have not prompted further investigation, especially with warmer weather approaching. Employees and customers should not have to spend time in an environment that feels difficult to breathe in. Something needs to be done. The alternative is to send back by mail which will cost me $8 for the shipping label. They shouldn't accept 3rd party payments if it's going to contradict their return policy. At the very least waive the label fee since it is through no fault of mine that I can return in store. Won't be ordering again.
