Great ambience. This restaurant is included in the all-inclusive. I enjoyed the penne dish and my friends really loved the veal dish. Their New York steak was dry. They have tons of dessert options including tiramisu! We had a bit of a long wait but the food came our quickly.

We had truffle burrata , arugula pear salad, homemade tagliatelle , lobster risotto and warm chocolate fondant. The quality and presentation in each course was impeccable. The tagliatelle was out of this world! We commented to the Maitre D as to the excellence of each course. He shared our comments with the chef , and the chef was kind enough to visit our table to thank us personally for our accolades and appreciation. When dining in Cancun, Fantino is a MUST!

This wasn't just another meal; it was a culinary journey, a deliberate rebellion against the beige mediocrity of resort dining. Our quartet, each seeking a unique escape, found solace in the artistry of Fantino's kitchen. The evening began with a delicate amuse-bouche, a tantalizing promise of what was to come. One of us savored the rich, earthy flavors of a mushroom pasta, each bite a symphony of umami that danced on the palate. Another reveled in the tender, perfectly seared filet, accompanied by seasonal vegetables that tasted like they'd been plucked from a sun-drenched garden that very morning. For the seafood lover among us, the grilled Mediterranean fish was a revelation - flaky, moist, and kissed by a whisper of the sea. The vegetarian of the group found nirvana in a vibrant, fresh salad, bursting with local produce and dressed with an olive oil so pure, it could have been a religious experience. Throughout the meal, the live piano music played a soft, elegant backdrop, elevating the ambiance to one of understated luxury. The service, seamless and unobtrusive, felt like a perfectly choreographed ballet. Each dish arrived with a narrative, a story of the chef's passion and meticulous attention to detail. In the end, it wasn't just the escape from the resort that we cherished, but the discovery of a place where food transcended mere sustenance and became art. Fantino didn't just feed us; it nourished our souls, reminding us that true culinary adventures lie beyond the safety of the all-inclusive. Good food is very often, even most often, simple food. And here, in the heart of Cancun, simplicity met sophistication in the most delightful of ways.

How hard is it to make decent food? Another All inclusive disaster! After eating here everyone was…read moresick. It got 1 star because views are amazing. Sad the food doesn't mirror the view! Save your stomach eat off Oleo site

Better than Hakka at Oleo!…read more (By the way, all restaurants at Oleo are for hotel guests only since it's All-Inclusive) My family and I had the best dining experience at Almar. The food, service, and ambiance is the best among the other restaurants in Oleo. (We're from Los Angeles so I've eaten lots of Japanese food there and my parents lived in Tokyo for many, many years...we just didn't think Hakka was the standout as opposed to the many travelers who says otherwise. Maybe it has changed?) By the way, make sure to reserve! You can get lucky and reserve on the same day. It's also a pity that this place is only open for dinner. They have fantastic views for the ocean and so maybe a 6 or 7pm reservation will have the sun still out. Otherwise it's pitch black outside. Drinks are great. Seems the same as other restaurants but the pina colada w/o alcohol is actually a slushie, which was super soft to the tongue! Now as for food...it's important to note that it's not technically a buffet BUT you can order multiple appetizers and entrees if you'd like. Appetizers: I recommend the Tomato Cream (soup) and Skewers. They're so fabulously fresh and seasoned. But be sure to try out other appetizers! I tried beef carpaccio for the first time and I thought it was great! Not overly salty, but tasty and tender. Entrees: I have to admit the Chef's creation of the day, which I tried on two separate days, were average. These were lasagna and Spinach Ravioli. It wasn't packed with a whole lot of flavor and seasoning. But, I could tell the pasta itself was fresh! Do consider the fish dishes like Catch of the day or salmon. We had beautifully seared and seasoned Mahi Mahi with vegetables that weren't bland as well. I myself haven't tried the salmon but it looked awesome when the other table had it. Desserts: Chocolate lava cake with the fruit at the bottom was amazing. The apple pie is too sweet for my taste, but it's definitely the traditional American apple pie sweetness. Though they've prepared it differently by having the apple portion showing on the top that was sitting on a thin crust at the bottom. Lastly service is fantastic. Servers like to strike a conversation with you and it's not pushy or unnatural. Our main server was wonderful! I forgot his name but it starts with a N and I took a picture with him. Thanks lad!
