I had the kimchi tofu jigae and the kimchi pancake which was pretty big but tasted amazing. In the jigae they also added a poached egg into it which gave it a nice taste, and the spicy factor was perfect; not too spicy. The service is average bit efficient, the food came quite quickly and another good thing is that banchan is served complimentary here, which doesn't seem to be the case with many UK korean restaurants. They also have some Japanese dishes on the menu like sushi, gyoza, temaki and teriyaki. There is parking right outside and it's pay and display but very cheap: 50p for 30 mins and £1 for an hour. The atmosphere is very casual like a cafe, so it's great for lunch as well as dinner. Overall, authentic and tasty Korean food that's well priced and made to a great standard.

If I said to you, you can go to a restaurant and cook your own meal, you might think that sounds…read morelike crazy talk. But, here's the thing -- it's one seriously fun night out. If you're bored of the usual system (order, wait for chef to cook, waiter delivers, yawn) then Bulgogi might be worth checking out. I confess, this isn't the first time I've had Korean BBQ, however -- it is Leeds' first and only place to indulge, and indulge you should. At least once. If you're not au fait with the system, allow me to explain. You order the set menu -- the only available choice -- and the staff swiftly bring out your first course of five. To begin, you get a few veggie sushi rolls and gyoza. Then comes the first BBQ course: slices of pork and beef. These are accompanied by three choices of sauce (soy, chilli, and tamarind), and about eight or so side dishes. (Which counts as the second course, I think.) Use the lettuce leaves as the base, chuck in a few bits and bobs in from the sides, add some sauce, BBQ up some meat slices, and get it all mixed in together for mouthfuls of marvellous-ness. My favourite sauce was the tamarind, and my favourite side was the spicy cucumber. You also get a healthy portion of sticky rice, which I'd advise to ration -- you get full so quickly! We, foolishly, assumed meat course numero uno was the main course. Oh dear. A second, even better, course of pork and beef slices then arrived. I don't know what had been done to the beef, but it was delectable -- and the beauty is you can cook it to your own taste! I complimented myself many times on my own barbecue skills. Then came the course of seafood! My word.... By this time I was absolutely stuffed, but we battled on. Because, food. The prawns were amazing; I don't usually like them, but these were delicious. Finally, and this one was a freebie, we were gifted a lamb chop! This only happened because the chef is trying out ideas for a Christmas special, but we were blown away. If he serves that come Christmas you'll be happy as Elf -- I think it was my favourite. Pro tip: Go in over the next few days as I'm sure the chef talked about trying it out on other customers with more marinade. Drinks-wise, I absolutely recommend the plum and honey tea (so, so good in this cold weather) and the Hite Korean lager -- it was really sweet and crisp. I absolutely loved it. Both were great to accompany the food. They also have a few Korean soft drinks that all sounded delicious. I'm a big fan when you can order beyond half a diet coke when it comes to beverages. All in all, I'm surely going back. It's fun, it's fresh, it's tasty. All the staff were lovely and for £23 roughly, I don't think it's a bad deal!

I didn't get to experience the afternoon menu as it was a bit too pricey for me at the time but i went there for lunch. Which only cost me about £10 for the meat and sides. As tradition i had soju (Korean alcoholic drink of choice) which was a bit expensive (i think it was £11 but can't remember and can't find receipt) and this is half the reason of why i didn't give full 5 stars because i loved this place. When the next day went to the Asian supermarket few streets down I spotted the same bottle of soju for 3-4 pounds. Wasn't happy. The other half of the reason that didn't gave a full 5 stars was because the meat was frozen, that didn't stop me from grilling the heck out of it and enjoying every bite but I think it would have been a little better if they had actually defrosted it first or being fresh. Again it was lunch time so it might be different in the afternoon. The sides were lovely and went really well with the meat. I was very happy i got to experience 3 different types of Kimchi of which they make themselves because when i was talking to the waitress she mentioned that they were making at the time in the kitchen a fresh batch. The service was very good and the waitresses were really lovely and helpful. And the whole atmosphere was very nice. Definitely going there again. Small warning: Check their opening times if you plan to go there because they close for few hours between lunchtime and afternoon/evening.

So it was one of those nights where it took aaaages to decide where to eat..despite living in…read moreManchester with millions of places to choose from..a bit like Netflix I guess.. Anyway we had originally settled on Red Chili on Portland Street because their menu looked divine online...however do not expect a warm welcome if you turn up at 9.30pm...Expect to receive a cold scowl and shoulder to match instead..so we left.. Anyway back to this place....Mooching through China town we thought ''hey lets try here'' the odd name certainly intrigued us... Instantly a cute waitress beckoned us in, pleasantly handing us a menu and guiding us to a table...each table was simply set with Chinese bowls and chopsticks which gave it that humble feeling... The menu in all honesty offered you items you would find on any Chinese menu, except for the odd fancy Sea bass dish. What grabbed our attention was the set meal where you could choose 3 items EACH from the starter menu, quarter of a duck to share , a main meal and rice/noodles each and a dessert....all for £24 ....bargain.. I was quite concerned how we were going to demolish this all...I mean my handbag was big that night..but the potential doggy bag was not going to fit... The starters to my relief were manageable , there were 4 pieces of assorted dumplings, dried seaweed, one chicken kebab and two hot and sour soups...which came in cute little glass casserole dishes.... The dumplings were like any other, but the soup ...tasted quite OXO cubey....very heavily flavoured in beef stock... The duck flew in next, to which a really polite waiter lovingly shred it in front of us... I admit I broke my Pescaterian diet because it looked so good...plus ducks live on water right? The mains , again ...these did not stand out...they were like any other Chinese Takeaway but the excellent service and friendly atmosphere ...made this special.. By the time we tried to eat this...there was no room for dessert and we were the last ones there..So I thought it would be polite and let these lovely people go home... Overall this place is really good value for money, I think it would be ideal for a large group to meet here and dine. as there would be no quibble about the expense.. The staff are just so genuine , and approachable..I think foodwise this is a three star,,,waiter wise I gives it a four...

Unassuming from the outside and oddly named, BBQ Handmade Noodles King serves delicious food at…read morevery reasonable prices. They also serve beer (ordinary lager) in jugs, which is excellent. We asked if one jug would be enough for our party of 3, to which the faultless response was "that depends how thirsty you are". As my visit here was about a month ago, the finer points are now lost in my memory. The stand-out dishes (the ones that I find myself daydreaming about) are the deep fried aubergine and the cold garlic belly pork. Give me a pile of each of these and I'll be very happy. Don't take squeamish companions here (or do, if you want to scare them). The menu is replete with various types of offal and organ. We ordered some lamb's ovary which was tasty enough - I'd order it again as part of a selection of dishes but it doesn't linger on my mind quite like the aubergine and the pork. The eponymous handmade noodles are delicious - thick and slightly chewy, in a delicious broth. Ours came with beef cooked with garlic and ginger, which was great. We ordered some baby squid skewers but had to make do with 'adult' squid as they had none. This was the main disappointment of the meal - so tough and chewy we struggled to maintain our dignity while gnawing through it. The seasoning hadn't permeated the squid at all and just left a greasy yet chalky residue on my tongue. Boiled rice was, you know, whatever. It's not something I ever personally choose (feels like a waste of time, money and calories) but it was sort of added to the order in a "and how many portions of rice would you like?" way. Food and beer for three greedy, thirsty people came to around £40. I would eat everything again other than the squid and would love to go back to try some more exciting and unusual dishes from their menu.
