Our servers were very nice! We had an open-air dinner for a party of 7. Appetizers, dinners, and desserts. We enjoyed everything we had. What a beautiful venue! Literally, it's right on the beach with both indoor and outdoor seating aplenty. The atmosphere is amazingly coastal and the decor matches. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming, and not to mention they speak both Spanish and English. The food is doubly delicious. Specializing in Cuban style cuisine, they have it all. The fried plantains are great as well as the fried octopus. The Cuban dishes are the perfect portion, not too much but not too little. However, the food is relatively pricy, so know before you go (around €20 for a drink and entree). Speaking of drinks, I had a large mojito and they know how to do it up right. A nice little beach bar at the end of the beach walk in Rota with a variety of Tapas, drinks, and entrees. We followed the sunset to the end of the beach walk to find Azúcar de Cuba Beach Bar. With great popular music covers from 1970s to today playing in the background and setting the mood this beach bar has a great combo of indoor dining, as well as out door beach side dining and small cabanas. On weekends they have live bands providing entertainment. It definitely was not easy at first to place an order. We weren't seated at a table but the server suggest we sit at a side bar looking outward to the beach and although it was a high traffic area no server in particular seemed to be responsible for customers sitting in that area. The menu has a fun mix of Caribbean, Latin American, and Spanish inspired dishes. I had pico de gallo with tortilla chips which tasted fresh and flavorful. I asked for Sangria, the offered Rojo or Blanco. I chose red but recieved white Sangria which had a fruit and cinnamon sticks added. It was good, just not what I ordered. My friend wanted the 75 Euro Steak meal but they told him no they were out. Someone at a table nearby sat down after us but got the steak. When he flagged down the server again he asked a second time but they told him no again and went to find a server who spoke some English. That server told him they only had one steak left and it was 75 Euro per kilogram and the only steak in the kitchen was over 1 kg so it would cost too much. It seemed awfully presumptuous to make an assessment that my friend in shorts and flip flops could not afford such a steak. He was more that willing to pay for it but got frustrated with being told no. The food, drink, and atmosphere is 5 stars for sure but the service needs some improvement. I ate here a good 10-15 times while I was in Spain. The food is absolutely delicious and I love there strawberry daiquiris! I usually get the salmon and it comes with roasted asparagus. The staff was always nice and view is amazing. I watched the sunset here while sitting outside in a comfortable area. I do recommend this location! read more

This is probably the best restaurant in Rota! From the on the beach setting to the amazing from scratch cuisine, you cannot beat this place. This place has a family friendly lounge environment with a high class menu and friendly staff. My husband and I casually relaxed on a cushioned bench, while watching the waves and sipping a mojito. We ordered the pico de gallo with avocado, Cuban tamales and Supreme salmon with Iranian pistachio and coconut curry. Everything was delicious, fresh and clearly made to order. Stopped by this gem while I was in Rota and plan on visiting again. It's right down on the beach, a beach bar with an upscale approach to food and beverage. The drinks were delicious, and reasonably priced. The food was excellent, but I especially enjoyed the Iberian Pork Loin. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and is a must stop for great food and scenery. read more

Okay, so again .. we are intrigued. Came in with a fairly large group for lunch and honestly, I think that's why I'm rating the way I am. Food: we did tapas. Anything that had to be cooked fresh (garlic shrimp, for example) was good. Anything that appeared to be pre-made (meat pie, for example) was not. Some people at our table ordered the entrees; they did look tasty. Drinks: charged 16E at the bar for a pitcher of ho-hum sangria; menu said 13E. Previously given advice to check menu before paying for anything noted and will be applied in the future. Service: surly, but honestly, I think it may have been the sheer size of our group. At least I hope so. Bottom line: as you can see by my photo, gorgeous view and lovely chiringuito, but would require a return visit to adjust my opinion. read more

I did not like this place one bit. Being Cuban, I can tell u right now there is nothing Cuban about this place. The food is not Cuban food either mostly Spanish and the mojitos suck. They are super sweet and you don't even get sugar cane with it. Really pricey and the bartenders are a bit rude. The ambient is nice but that's about it! read more

Atmosphere is great! It's set on the beach where there is seating inside and outside. Had a beer, Barraquito (coffee), fried plantains, seared tuna, and coconut flan. The food was really good. The flan was amazing! Wait staff was on point too. Even dealt with my bumbling Spanish and spoke to me in English (English menu available too). I very much enjoyed my experience. Definitely recommended. Pro tip- flag the server and request the check when you're ready, otherwise you will be waiting there for a while (I guess they aren't trying to rush you if you are just chilling). read more

Let me say that WOW when I make this review. On the beach gets a WOW, And the food was delicious fresh and amazing. My son in law warned me about the free pouring in Spain so the margaritas were especially a WOW and the deserts were a nice WOW to a ending of a wonderful experience. Oh the reason I gave it only 4 stars is ..... yes it was a beach bar restaurant and the music was extremely loud so if I could I would give them a 4.5 stars. The location of this place couldn't be better, it's down at the northernmost point on the Rota walkway beach area. It is comfortably situated right on the beach with an open air setup that is common in a place like this that gets very little rain. The owners and workers seem to all speak both English and Spanish and by the looks of things, try to cater to Latin American subset of the local population and the US military looking for a small taste of that back home feeling. The place is very inviting and has a relaxing Caribbean appeal to it. It's a great place to catch up with some friends and have some drinks while the sun sets over the Atlantic. The owner/bartender (can't tell) is mighty proud of his Sangria de Juan which he has been making for 40 years or so. The prices are a little high but some of that is to be expected with the location, it's definitely worth a visit. read more
