I come here a lot, the food is amazing and the service is great. atmosphere inside is also great, decorations covering the building.

My lunch date thoroughly enjoyed her selection, the Beef Burrito lunch item - she cleaned her plate! I tried the Lunch Beef Fajitas for the first time. The Beef was tough, but next time I'll order chicken. The rest of my meal was delicious, the onions and peppers were especially fantastic as were the nachos and salsa!! "Buyer Beware". The food is of good quality as this establishment, however, they charge a free for the use of a "Credit Card" without disclosing this. Consumers are being hammered right now with the cost of inflation and the last thing this restaurant should be doing is charging a fee for the use of a credit card. They also charge exorbitant costs for "soft drinks"...almost $4 for some soft drink and no free refills. There a better cost alternatives available in the area. read more

I was born and raised in Arizona, so I'm fairly picky with my Mexican food. I do realize that legit Mexican food places are hard to come by, but honestly there isn't anything special about this place. It's decent quick Mexican (ish) food. You have to ask for anything to be extra spicy (including the salsa). They have ok drinks as well. This might be one of the better Mexican food places in the area, but we prefer to go to a few other spots when we get that craving. Nothing special, but not too bad, either. The only real complaint about my dining experience here would be those pesky fruit flies/gnats/whatever those things that was flying around my face. I did not receive the food I ordered, but I believe that was more of a language barrier situation than an inexperienced worker. I ordered one dish. I then changed my mind and ordered something different. I received what I had ordered first. I did not realize it until after my second bite. It was just simply to good to send back. I've never had a bad meal here. My husband and I go nearly every week. The waitstaff are all very courteous and friendly. Chips and salsa are great. Your food comes quickly. The only downside is the limited table space. Be prepared to wait if you come in on Friday or Saturday night. They do have a lovely patio for seating when weather permits. read more

I've tried this place twice. I never give one star unless I try twice and both times are truly disappointing. The menu is overly huge way too much which usually means they don't have one really great dish. The place did not seem that clean. They staff was very slow. It always seems pretty busy though so the locals must like it. But I'm a huge foodie so I know real Mexican from American slop Mexican. The only thing okay were the tortilla chips. I ordered the fajita salad I could tell these ingredients were far from fresh. The next time I ordered a burrito and again was put together sloppy with no love just trying to get the food out fast. I actually got very sick afterwards not sure if it was from the food but it wasn't a pleasant feeling. I highly recommend passing this place if your in the area. read more

Stopped in for a Sunday lunch. Our waitress was very friendly to the children that were with us, but struggled to get our orders correct. I had the guac-tada (tostada with guacamole) and it was delicious. The guacamole tasted fresh and the beans were great. My friend enjoyed her enchiladas and we were pleased with the portion sizes. This little joint is just over the border in Clover, SC. It's a small little place that kind of resembles a grill/diner more than a restaurant. The staff are friendly and attentive. The portions are generous, including the jumbo Margarita that I ordered. The prices are what you would expect for typical Mexican food. My family and I just came from this restaurant (we are Muslim) and from the moment we step in the door they made us feel completely uncomfortable. I do not speak their language but I could tell they were talking about us from all the nasty looks. The food was completely nasty and it made be sick, on top of that they had flies. The service was bad, so no we did not tip. Our waitress was setting down eating dinner like she was at home in her pjs, when she took our order she made us feel so uncomfortable. And then to top it off some other people came in and you could clearly see the difference in how they were to them compared to us. I left the restaurant and I saw the service pick up our receipt and start laughing. WHY!! Did you they we are going to give you a tip and you made us feel so terrible. I will never go back. And this is my first ever review on anything so that should say a lot. read more

Visited with three friends at about 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. It was a big disappointment. The stewed chicken in my dish was overrun by grease. It tasted okay, but I couldn't figure out why they didn't just use a slotted spoon to dish out the chicken and leave the grease in the pan. Ugh. Not good. Two of my friends got items with ground beef. I'm not sure what they did to that meat, but it was awful looking. It was almost as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour or so. It did not look appetizing. It did not taste good. Dried up and just poor quality. Neither of them ate much of it. Im surprised they didn't send it back, but we were on a schedule and it had taken longer than expected to get the food in the first place. Yuck. The fourth friend ordered off the "light" menu and hers seemed like the best of all the entrees. She got soft chicken tacos if I remember correctly. They were a bit messy, dripping, the way it happens when the lettuce is wet or pico de gallo is added during the preparation. I can live with that. So, one out of four was okay. Service was distracted and slow. We were on a schedule, but should have had plenty of time for Mexican food since it is all mostly ready to get put together when you place your order. The server took his time letting us escape. I told him separate checks and he came back with one. Then he took the order for another table and refilled drinks for other customers before splitting up our bill. Grrrrrrrrr. I might give this place a second look if I'm in the area again, but really, they would have to do things a lot better, on a consistent basis, for me to be willing to recommend it to friends. read more

I'm not gonna lie. We got "stuck" and had to go to this restaurant, due to the lack of any other appealing options in the area. I walked in and was confused. It seemed like a counter service place from the layout. Clearly this is a re-imagined space and they didn't demo what was there previously. A nice man there motioned us to a table, and I realized it wasn't counter service after all, but rather table service. We were given an extensive menu and we chose from the lunch special selections, offered 7 days a week during lunchtime hours. We ordered, and I watched as our order was made right behind the counter in front of us. You can't see much, but it was interesting to have the kitchen right out on the floor. Our meals arrived very quickly. I realized for the first time just how much Mexican food truly is pre-made - the refried beans, the rice, no wonder food always comes out to quickly at Mexican restaurants! There's nothing wrong with that, though. Those are the types of things that hold very well for a long time. And there was nothing at all wrong with the heaping platters of food set before us. It was all delicious. As I told my husband, more urban areas may have exotic food, but Charlotte (and by proxy the Lake Wylie area) has Mexican food down to a science! It was exactly what we were hoping for and I plowed through my meal quickly. Service was great. The price was very reasonable ($17 for two meals and two sodas. The soda prices might be a tad high, but not too much so.) Next time we're out that way, this is the kind of place I'll seek out. I love the quirkiness in how they adapted a counter service restaurant to a table service establishment, and I REALLY loved the food. read more

The beans and rice were good and the gucamole salad was good but literally a tablespoon of guacamole for 14.99. Never again! Used to love I. I was very underwhelmed with my experience. Usually in a Mexican restaurant, they tell you to be careful with the hot plate, not this restaurant. The plate wasn't hot, and neither was the food. I mistakenly thought this restaurant was part of the Azteca Mexican Food restaurant chain in Charlotte, NC and surrounding towns. I really like their food. Don't think that is the case with this restaurant. The food was so-so, it was not hot, and very typical for most Mexican restaurants who apparently use the same menu (number 7 is the beef enchilada, Chile relleno, rice and beans)! I paid an extra $1.99 for extra cheese sauce which came in a very small plastic cup and was, again, only Luke warm at best. Won't be going back! read more

The Mexican Food craving hit me today and there aren't many options in this area. Time to try Azteca Grill. I place an order to go. Fajitas Azteca and Tacos de Asada. In my opinion if you want to see how good a Mexican place is order the Tacos de Asada. Anything more than Steak, Cilantro, and Onions has been Americanized and is garbage. Maybe I'll let some pico de gallo slide but anything else is lipstick on a turd. The Hombre on the phone was friendly and told me that it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Perfect timing because I had to duck into Publix and make a quick purchase. Upon pickup I made a few quick observations. Parking out front is limited but there is plenty in the back is plentiful. The place isnt huge on the inside but they also offer outside seating. There are some reviews on Yelp that mention poor cleanliness, I saw nothing of the sort, the place looked clean to me and that includes a layout with an open kitchen. I thought the food was good. Not huge portions to what seems typical with Fajitas at most places but not small by any means. All in all it was a good meal that I would recommend you try for yourself. this is by far the worst mexican restaurant i have ever been to. i got a taco salad with beef and the beef tastes like a microwave meat ball. it was covered in some kind of white sauce, which tasted like nothing. the salsa and the queso were both WATERED DOWN. not to mention the restaurant itself was absolutely disgusting. there was dirt on the walls and floor. it's also just a very loud atmosphere since the kitchen is out in the open. nobody in the kitchen was wearing a hair net and there were flies all over the place. definitely wouldn't go back. read more
