The staff at Azores Vacations is so helpful. My husband and I don't know what we would do without their help. We travel to and from the Azores about 6 times per year. I pray that my flight goes better than my pre-flight customer service experience from this god forsaken office! I wait a while on hold - no problem at all. Instead of the customer having an attitude after being on hold, I find that the lady working in the office is the rude one! "Hello!" I say. "Azores Airlines what's the problem" is the response (but in a heavy Fall River accent, of course). Did not even pretend to care in the slightest or fix my very minor issue. This company are the worst in the world. Even the people who work for them say that. They owe us $130 for in over charge, and I been waiting for 3 months for my money and excuses over and over again. They are late most of the time going from Boston to the Azores, and coming back to Boston. Now they have people sitting in azores for days trying to come back home, and this people are not doing anything for them. Shame on you all, you suck as a company. read more

they are only getting 1 star because I have to pick one. It should be ZERO stars. Staff is extremely rude and condescending. They accused me of lying to them! Their standard response when a problem is brought to their attention is "file a complaint". They left my party of 6 stranded in Lisbon because we missed our flight due to them. When I tried to reschedule on another flight I was informed that the next flight available was 10 days later! We are tourists therefore I do not have a home in Lisbon to wait 10 days in! People have jobs, pets, etc. to get back to We ended up buying new one way tickets home on a completely different airline after they left us stranded with the only option to fly out in 10 days. I will never fly SATA again and I strongly encourage you to fly TAP or Delta. Delta now flies to Lisbon and Ponta Delgada. Both airlines will treat you 1000% better. I had to call Azores Express because the SATA website did not allow me to buy a multi city ticket. WOW. The customer service rep was so RUDE. She was argumentative, snippy and stressed out beyond belief, sighing on the phone as if I interrupted her. Seriously lady, too many espressos. First of all dealing with SATA is difficult in itself but this complaint is about this office in particular. The customer service at this office is horrible here. Particularly one women who I was never able to get her name to make a complaint about. They have caller id and if they choose not serve you they will do so. So even if they are being rude to you in their demeanor and you respond back in the same regards they will choose to hang up on you and then not pick up the phone call when you call back. I highly suggest dealing with SATA directly if you have to buy tickets through them. read more

December 22 2017 from Ponta Delgada Azores airport to what was supposed to be Praia airport. The scheduled arrival destination was Praia, but was rerouted to Sal Airport instead. We landed in Sal at 11am and was held on the plane until 1:30pm with no word on what was going to happen next. Finally when we were left off the plane we were told to go into Sal aeroporto thinking that this would be a brief stop, but instead turned out to be the most traumatic experience my sisters and I have ever had traveling. We were left at the airport with transit passes in our hands and no information on what was happening next. Hours and hours passed and still no answers on when our flight was leaving for Praia. We were asking questions and nothing was being answered soon 5:00pm turned into 10:00pm, at this point all the airport staff had gone home and it was just us. I never seen or heard of the traumatic situation we all went through, that Sata Airlines made us experience in my life. The luggages were still outside the airport and doors to get outside were locked, there were mothers with babies that had used up all their formula and diapers, people who needed their medication and had no way to them. Finally, at 11:00pm Sal police and airport security showed up and I felt a sense of relief, but instead turned out to be the complete opposite. We were laughed at and treated like prisoners. They refused to let us grab our luggages and said that if we were to walk out those locked doors even if it was to grab our luggages or for any other reason at all we would then be responsible for ourselves. Midnight approached and my sisters and I decided to leave the airport and get a hotel which we had to pay for. Before leaving we were promised a flight the following day. Next day approaches, my sisters and I got denied to board the TACV flight which I may add was NOT sent for us from Sata, but arranged by the airport. My younger sister at that point couldn't bare anymore and suffered from an anxiety attack right there at the check in line. Even after that there were still no answers as to when we were leaving Sal, but instead talk about us staying another night. Sata Airlines not once didn't reach out to anyone on our flight to let us know what was happening, but instead left us stranded in a airport that had no idea what to do with us. We had to fend for ourselves and I experienced and witnessed things that I only see on TV. Sata is responsible for everything that we experienced in Sal. We lost out on time on our trip, memories, other flights that we had scheduled because of Sata Airlines read more

Azores should get a zero star rating, but I was required to select at least one. Flight was cancelled. Have been waiting all night with no details on when our flight will be rescheduled. We were told to go home and they would call us when flight is rescheduled. No hotel or meal couture's offered. These cancellations and always taking off late appears to be their normal operating procedure. I would recommend to never use this airline. Have had problems 3 times out of 3 trips. read more

I wish I could give SATA/Azores Express a zero for customer service. Who ever heard of traveling to Europe with no bags. Apparently it's the norm with SATA on their "light" service...no allowance to check a bag unless I cough up an additional $200 each way....pretty deceptive if you ask me. Tried talking with a human who pretty much told me too bad...$250 to change your ticket for the $25 upgrade. You just lost a whole lot of future business with your stupidity. read more

Not even worth 1 star!! My family and I just traveled to Sao Miguel and the mainland and while there we adopted a puppy. On our way back to Boston from Sao Miguel, the check-in receptionist refused to check-in our dog! She stated that the dog did not have her rabies shot! I tried to explain that in the US, the CDC considers Portugal to be a rabies free country and plus the dog was only 2 & 1/2 months, she is to young for the shot! After making a scene, we asked to speak to the manager, AND SHE REFUSED TO SPEAK TO US! Our dog was basically left behind! Luckily, we had a family member there able to take the dog to his house and care for her until she comes home. It's now been 2 weeks and I still don't have my dog! I've been calling, emailing and even going to the offices in New Bedford and Fall River to resolve this problem. NOONE has gotten back to me! I am contemplating using legal actions to get my dog home. I WILL NEVER FLY SATA AGAIN. AND I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS WHY!!! read more

What a horrible airline.. flight from Boston to ponta delgada soa miguel 7/13/19 originally supposed to depart 10:10. Flight was delayed to 10:40 then 11:40 then 1pm until finally they told us to leave the secured area and head to baggage claims to get our bags back! After waiting about 3 hours for our bags we went back upstairs to see what our next available flight was and instead what we got was " you are not going to Portugal today or tomorrow so just go home" when asked about the refund the clerk wrote our names down on what looked like paper towel from the bathroom and our phone numbers and said Sata would contact me later that day ... which they never did of course. The most uninformitive airline The rudest staff I have every dealt with And I'm still 1000$ in the whole for my ticket and have 830€ that I guess I could use to wipe my a** with now. I have tried over the last SEVERAL HOURS, to reach someone at azores express in Fall River. I have called numerous times, the second time Theresa, answered and said "hello" I respond with a "hello" and she hung up... The following time, I was told to leave a voicemail. The other four times I tried calling the call ended. I have also tried calling Azores Express in Oakland, no live person it seems like it is only for informational purpose... These are all 30-45 minute wait times... In addition, spoke to Sata directly in Azores, finally spoke to someone she stated I should be able to receive a complete refund without any problems due to the original cancellation flight from SATA, this is SATA policy. All I had to do was email Azores express... Oh yes, sure no problem EXCEPT they are not receiving email's.. SERIOUSLY!!! My next email was to SATA directly once again and the better business bureau.. Not sure if that will even help since they are not even accredited.. SERIOUSLY!!!!! Honestly, this is the worst customer service and unacceptable. I now have wasted valuable time and an addition lost money by calling international... I have NEVER had such a poor experience like this one.... I am still on hold.. Obviously need to resolve this.. will edit once resolved.. I don't live in the area otherwise I would by in the office.. read more

he worst airline with the worst, most incompetent people.Traveling during Covid-19 is stressful enough, this airline adds to the stress. They told us to go get a test done and gave us the address that does this test and the name of the test (RT-PCR)that the airline accepts, they reiterated that the test cannot be more than 72hrs old at the time of travel, the landing in Portugal. That they DO NOT accept any other test.Well that test takes a minimum of 3 to 14 business days to get the results and the test cost is $160 per person. When we called to ask them if this was the correct test since it would never meet the 72hrs guideline to get the results..they said YES! We took a chance and did the covid rapid test, because now we are out of the $160, it's the day of travel and we have no results. We Paid another $160 for the rapid test which takes approx 30minutes...and guess what...they took it at the airport no problem. Bunch of incompetent liars! read more

We had a problem with being double-billed for our tickets to the Azores. We booked Sata via OneTravel. Sata, Fall River, was very helpful and found out that OneTravel had done the double booking (the first booking to hold the seats) and was able to get us refunds. read more

SATA/AzoresAIR is the worst airline with zero customer care and service. Flying from the Azores to Boston the flight was delayed 5 hours with no explanation, boarding was a free-for-all, no entertainment such as movies, TV, or music, nothing on a 5 hour plus flight and the food was inedible. My husband suitcase was robbed and SATA/AzoresAir told me to e-mail Portugal to claim the loss. Over a month later I was told the claim needed to be filed at Logan Airport with in 7 days. The Fall River office is useless, giving wrong inaccurate information. this airline has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. read more

NOT REALLY A 1 STAR IT'S MORE LIKE NO STAR THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE MOST UNRELIABLE COMPANY I'VE EVER TRAVELED !!!!! On February 3, 2016 we purchased our tickets to to the Acores with Azores Express At that time we had to pay 50.00 per round trip to reserve our seats. Now they are letting people book them for free. When I called to ask them to refund me my seats they said they couldn't do that. I asked how that was fair, How is it that we should have to pay for seats when no one has to pay for them now. She said they have implemented a new tax that makes up for seats REALLY you just make up taxes. Not only did we have this issue but on Mar 21 they called to tell us they moved our flight up one day. Well funny because we couldn't be there a day later because as it was we were getting there 1 day before a special event we had to attend. Oh and now that they moved our flight we'd arrive right in the middle of the event. So after throwing a fit they moved our flight to leave 2 days early and we went from a nonstop flight which cost me an additional 1200.00 for the 5 of us to a lay over flight that we now have to be in Boston from 8 am to 10pm. Now I've paid an additional 1200.00 for a flight that I'm no longer on and I have also paid 250.00 for seats that everyone else can not book for free. All these troubles before we leave and on day of flight I'm sure we'll be late getting to our destination because in the dozen times we traveled to Azores we've only been on time maybe 2 times. They never answer their phones and when you are lucky enough to not get their voice-mail immediately, you are put on hold for 30 minutes and then they hang up on you. This happened to me numerous times. I had to call Sata directly in Portugal and I was on the phone with a representative within 5 minutes. This company is an embarrassment to the Portuguese community and to Sata Airline! Your services and flights are expensive enough -- hire more people to answer the phones!!!! read more

Worse Airline by far! Was stranded in the airport with my two kids overnight. Also, my only option to get home the next day was to fly to Boston when my car is parked in Providence. There some really rough and rude people working there. In general, every second business or individual I have dealt with in Portugal was rude, dishonest, even thieving. The others are very nice. Yet they have an attitude where you can not call it lazy. It is more than lazy or less than lazy, I am not so sure. It is something like never kept promises and work supposed to be done, but never happens unless pressure is applied and repeatedly, many times. So, regarding Azores Express I can tell, their Portuguese telephone line is something out of a horror movie. You can't hear what the recording says, the line hangs up on you repeatedly, some utter nonsense is going on not only with this company, but with the entire country of Portugal. Customer service is a joke in many places. They will tell you to wait while someone calls and talks to them after you arrived, for a long time! They will close shop and VOLTO JA! leave for a couple hours, to shop or to see a doctor, just like that. Your time in Portugal is unimportant, you must wait, but that ends up in lost business and lost customer for them. Yet they don't really care. Again, there are good and bad ones about 50-50. The key is to apply pressure, be nice but demanding and be very firm and even aggressive with them. They soften up to strong, powerful, confident people. So Portugal still a wonderful country and it takes some effort to not lose patience with them. Azores Express again. If you have a choice you better off with another company, if any available. They use their monopolist rights 100% capacity, I think. When you apply pressure, show confidence, they soften up, but the damage by sheer shock is already done. read more
