I came here to take a fly fishing class and observed that there is a lot for folks to do up here for seniors! Sure it's a Senior center, but really there is a great deal up here to do! Some folks have really worked their tail off to make this a fun little place! Great place to have all kinds of classes on a number of different things! I noticed a small little library, a work out area, pool tables, a hand shuffle board, tv's and visiting tables. There was a little gift shop with all kinds of fun little trinkets! What I really impressed me were that so many folks were sitting down and visiting with each other! Don't be shy, if your'e a senior, come up here and visit! What a fun place to come do things and meet others! I just hope that someday, that other senior centers around the country are as nice as this one!

A search of the web will reveal many sites discussing this form, which was developed by the Chinese government in 1956. It is also called the "Beijing Form" because that's where the glorious peoples' instructors convened to develop it. Look for several masters performing it on YouTube. You do not have to be a senior to join the class. If the class is full, seniors get first priority, that's all. The below is a quote from the Denton Senior Center's website: ---------- Date: Tuesdays Time: 4 - 5 p.m. Cost: $30 for six weeks. Related to martial arts, Tai Chi is the art of constant motion. Class content includes slow motion warm up, breathing exercises and 24 basic movements. Benefits of Tai Chi include better relaxation, balance, meditation and improved health. Instructor: John Plevoch For more details, contact the front desk at (940) 349-8720. ----------

DON'T EXTERN HERE! The facility is in dire need of new ownership. Until the internal issues are…read morefixed, I would suggest externing somewhere else. Also, management needs a serious attitude adjustment. Edit: I'd like to include specifics. Externs are required to climb an extended tractor arm, approximately 10 feet high, to throw meat into enclosures, which raises safety concerns. Additionally, work hours are not properly tracked, and externs are expected to work 7 days a week with shifts lasting 10-12 hours. There also seemed to be a lack of necessary supplies to perform tasks efficiently. There was also a situation where one of the workers accidently released a big cat because they were so overworked and probably emotionally exhausted. The big cat escaped, and was not recovered. As a result, they fired everyone involved and have yet to rehire and are severely understaffed to this day. While the mission of animal care is commendable, I believe improvements in safety protocols, proper scheduling, and adequate equipment would greatly benefit both the externs and the organization.

She told us about the history of each cat. She started off the tour by telling us that the center is run by volunteers 100%. There are no funds used for salaries..not even the director. I found that to be pretty amazing. I took several photos with my cell phone. It takes some work to get the cell phone lens to line up through the holes in the chain link fence and stay back at an arms length distance at all times (required by the center ). Still, I was able to take pictures and crop them later to come out with several good photos. There were a total of 28 cats and a 3 legged llama. None of the cats seemed aggressive. Most seemed friendly, but as Melanie explained that could change without a moments notice. I had no reason not to believe her...they are wild animals. The center buries all cats in their own cemetery. They do not sale their teeth, fur, etc once they are gone, which I found to be most honorable. We had a wonderful time. It was very educational, and would recommend. The price of the tour is a 100% donation. They also have a wish list ( needed items for the center and care of the animals) that you can purchase items and bring with you. We brought bleach and paper towels. They were most appreciative to get them. All research done at the center is non invasive which was comforting to know. The cats cages were fairly large like the size of a small suburban backyard.

I'm absolutely appalled at the care here. Each day I addressed something to the teachers and yesterday (7/25) I actually spoke to the director demanding answers and of course there was none! The second time around was with my son, not only did we mention that we were potty training and asked them for consistency of doing it there as well they promised us that they would. This was never honored and we were repeatedly told it needed to just be "brought up" which I pointed out had been mentioned to teachers and even head staff over messages and in person multiple times. Not only did we have these issues but the cleaniness of the classroom was clearly subpar considering every single day was a new illness and a huge out break of hand foot and mouth that was a revolving door! As a full time working mom I didn't have much of a choice but to continue. Although I could look past everything else what I couldn't look past was the rudeness of the management! It was made very clear from the beginning for information for billing etc. it needed to be made aware to his father. They would rudely call me and leave me multiple messages demanding that I handle it and even continued to use the wrong name for me multiple times after being corrected! We finally just decided to discontinue services as it was extremely expensive for a service that was more trouble than it was worth and we were not going to spend an elaborate amount of money to be disrespected.
