Hi all, dropping a one star review for the individual in charge. I had two suits that needed tailoring, no urgency on them. First thing I asked was how long it would take if I dropped off the pieces, which he said it could take over a month. No issues on that given the summer time. Then I proceeded to ask for an estimate on the pieces, to which he seemed insulted and scolded me for even asking a simple question. He said if I was worried about the prices I should go to a dry-cleaners because it seemed I lacked interest in good service. He continued with a rude demeanor, to which I thanked him for his valuable time. Please explain how asking for an estimate is not something a customer should do? The only reason I asked was due to negative reviews others left on his upcharges. Never had an issue with a distinguished tailors asking them their prices, even in Europe they are not this rude. Happily not coming back to this establishment, please be more welcoming to others read more

Mr. Azizi prides himself in only taking jobs that he believes is worth the money and the time to do, and he'll tell you if he doesn't think a piece is worth altering, which I really appreciate. I brought by an old suit jacket to be tailored because it was too big, and he recommended not only taking in the waist but also the sleeves so that it would fit better. Yes, he charges more than I would expect of a typical tailor, but for the convenience, I was willing to pay the price. I thought he did a great job with the jacket. For a jacket that was either going to be tailored or donated, I'm glad I got it tailored to fit me perfectly! I have brought several suits to be tailored here, and Mr. Azizi has done an expert job on all of them. In one job that stood out, I had a bad rip on the back thigh area of an expensive and fairly new custom-made suit. The custom tailor I bought it from said it was not reparable, as did another NYC tailor. I remember Azizi from when I used to live in Tarrytown and brought it to him. He was very honest that it would look like a slight crease but since it was a black suit with muted, thinly spaced pinstripes it would not be very noticeable. What did I have to lose, I figured, so I gave it a shot. It is not noticeable even when you look for it! I have gotten several productive years out of that suit. Ah, Azizi, you truly helped us out. My gentleman friend has been suit phobic since he gained weight, a result of quitting smoking. He needed a suit for an upcoming wedding, and was giving me a hard time about going shopping. I took his measurements, bought him an appropriate suit (I used sew in my past) and then I made him go to Azizi for alteration. Azizi put him at ease, told him the suit was great and just needed minor tweaking. Sleeves needed to be raised a bit, pants needed to be taken in at the seat, and the waistband needed a slight adjustment. Of course he needed to have the pants hemmed. We said we'd be back today and we were, and the suit looks fantastic! The tailoring was extremely well done, and my guy looks awesome. I highly recommend this place. read more

I stopped by the store last night (which could use a renovation) to see if I could get my evening dress hemmed. Wasn't pleased with the $80 price tag for a hem. That apparently would take 2 weeks? Was given attitude and asked several times if I'd like to go else where to get my dress taken care of. Decided not to have my dress hemmed here. Unpleasant experience. read more

RIP OFF!! I used to come here all the time and I decided to bring in a bridesmaid dress to get the straps pulled up alittle tighter and the bottom trimmed because it was too long. Azizi didn't tell me how much it would cost so since I had been there several times I didn't think it would be too much. There was NO beading on the dress it was a simple chiffon dress. When I picked it up he said $350. My jaw nearly dropped. He charged me $350 to alter a dress that cost me $350!! I could've got a whole new dress for the price. I haven't been back since and will never ever go back here. I feel bad because he is such a nice guy but his prices are just insanely outrageous. Make sure to ask what the cost will be before you proceed to get anything altered there. read more

Nobody does it better. Azizi is a consummate professional who knows clothes. He has the ability of taking a badly fitting jacket (something that I rationalized "this can be taken care of by a good tailor), and remaking the jacket so that it looks like it was custom made. He can make a pattern; he is up to date with where pants lengths should be; he knows clothes. I have recommended so many people to him because he is so good at what he does. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a designer outfit that costs thousands of dollars to him because I trust his ability and his judgement completely. Aside from his competence as a tailor, he is the loveliest man to deal with with; he is friendly and caring, and aims to please his customers. As I said earlier, nobody does it better. read more

I brought in a floor length dress which I asked to have shortened and altered a bit (it was a little too big). I was charged 65$ but the result was very disappointing. The areas where the dress needed to be taken in were done so very awkwardly - the dress is now so ill-fitting I cannot wear it. It is tight and loose in all the wrong places. Admittedly, I should have taken it back and insisted that they adjust the dress as necessary, I just didn't have enough time to take it back. The owner was polite and friendly. read more

I have been coming to Mr. Azizi for several years. Both he and his wife Marcela provide a pleasant experience and are a pleasure to talk too. Mr. Azizi has tailored several garments for me, requiring an exceptional skill level. When the garments are complete they appear to have been custom made just for me. He has reworked jackets, custom fit dresses, and when he took the hem up on my denim jeans they were re-stitched with the original bottom part of the hem-you would never know they were tailored! This couple is amazing. I had a wedding dress emergency the week before my wedding. They treated me like a daughter and hand stitched the lining.
