My new favorite obsession. My parents have been coming here since they first experience the 7-5, and my mom brought me here when I was in high school. I started coming here again when hanging out in the Norfolk area, and boy, is the food delicious! Their pepperoni pizza is hands down my favorite style & type of pizza in the entire area. If I ever stop hanging out over here, I'll continue to come for the food. Their service is always great. The serves are quick & work together, so you won't wait long for something you request (like my extra cups of ranch). I will say the bar side is incredibly loud, so I refuse to sit over there, but the seating in the restaurant side is the same as it's always been since they opened. This is an old family run business. They specialize in bar food with Greek flair. Expect the usual suspects; wings, pizza, burgers. There is a smoker's lounge and game room. The location is split between a family restaurant and bar area with outdoor seating. It gets a little loud between competing conversations, the juke box, and the TVs. The bar side has many TVs so you can count on finding the game you wanted to see. The personal pizza is ok and my go to when I'm in the area but you can find a good Greek salad, French dip, or gyro here. read more

This was our 2nd stop of the night. It has been on my Want To Try List for awhile so even if I just checked it out, I was excited. It was not at all what I expected. I thought It was going to be a small dive bar. Nope. The place was huge!!! A restaurant on 1 side and a bar on the other. There was a wall in between so it felt separate. The bar was PACKED! It was the football playoffs so it was probably busier than normal. Obviously they have plenty of tv's. Since we had just eaten we were not eating but I was determined to try something. The pizzas I saw looked amazing. But I decided on the Haloumi Appetizer....To Go. It was so much more than what I expected. It came with spring mix, olives, tomatoes and the pita. I brought it home and it was delicious!!! I love Greek Food so I cannot wait to go back, sit down and order all the food. I took my mother to this restaurant for dinner. When they have brought the food over first, they dropped half of her fries. They put the wrong salad dressing on the salad. Then, as they were serving, the salad is the dressing gotten all over the table. My mother doesn't eat a lot so she didn't eat all her sandwich and she asked for a box.They gave her a box of course being older.She forgot the box.We came back less than five minutes, and it was in the trash. I didn't even like my food.I've never found anything here that I actually like to eat.But my mother liked that sandwiches was looking forward to eating the second half of it.Nobody seemed to care that it was in the garbage. read more

I'm not sure what the bad reviews are for but if you are expecting a Michelin restaurant obviously this isn't the place. This place is a culmination of Greek hospitality and culture, a love for sports, and a sense of warmth you will not find at other places at all around here. I have searched every corner of the 757 for a good tavern style bar to remind me of the bars in the Midwest where I am from but all have failed to meet my expectations and sort of warmth for me. Coming here I got nothing but good service, attentive waiters, a smile on everyone's face, and a great meal that left my belly full and my bank account happy. Came here for dinner after seeing the Garden of Lights at Norfolk Botanical gardens on Wednesday 12/20/203. It was me, my sister and her boyfriend. I ordered the Open Faced Turkey sandwich with mash potatoes and fried okra. My sister got the French Dip sandwich with Fried okra and her boyfriend the Grilled Skirt steak with mash potatoes w/gravy and Fried okra. As you can see we are big fans of their fried okra lol. We sat on the bar side and our waitress was attentive and the food good. I did ask for more gravy as I felt it wasn't enough originally. I thoroughly enjoyed my food after walking in the cold it truly was a comfort dish for me. My sister and her boyfriend enjoyed their food as well. This is a great hangout that serves food after 9pm. The food and experience was very mid-level if not poor. My gyro had like 4 square random pieces of meat on it. The service was very poor. We walked up and asked if we seated ourselves or not since we've never visited before, and the bartender was very rude and unhelpful. We weren't even offered a menu, we had to ask for one. It felt like we were being pushed to sit at the bar instead of a table to be waited upon. Maybe if you're just going to stop for a beer and watch a game this would be an ideal spot, the pool tables were nice and it's a chill bar atmosphere. But for food and service, it's a no for me. DONT waste your money by ordering food here !!!Just the worst food ever. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with provolone cheese. You had to get a magnifying glass out to look for the cheese and the waitress told me there's cheese on there. If you don't like it we'll send it back to the kitchen. Being that was said with attitude, I really don't trust sending a sandwich back to the kitchen because they couldn't even put enough cheese on a Philly steak. These guys should go to Philly and learn what a Philly cheesesteak is before they put it on their menu. First off, they have outdoor seating! When the weather is THIS IDEAL, I am so glad Azalea Inn has this option. We ordered the hummus plate for me and the tuna bites taco for my friend. The hummus was...well, hummus. Usually, when you get hummus at a restaurant, there are flavor options--roasted garlic or pesto or something along those lines. This was just "hummus...and it was DELICIOUS! It didn't need any bells and whistles, it was good just as is. The tuna bites my friend had was as good as the picture! This pizza place is a Norfolk staple!! I've been going here for years! It's truly the best pizza with their crunchy pizza edge to the great toppings. Unfortunately, this is the only thing I've had at Azalea Inn so I can't speak of no other dishes here. There's outdoor seatings so I've enjoyed the option of sitting outside. I love a cheesy pizza. Tasted freshly grated to me. If I am wrong don't tell me! Nicely ratio of sauce to cheese. No dry pizzas over here. The crust was soft and tender and ate the edges. And the toppings covered 90% of the pizza with just enough crust. We've been to a few pizza joints in this area. Price for a large is comparable to what we've paid before. Do you have one of those families or friend groups where it is difficult to decide what to eat? This is the place. I've dined here numerous times over the years. Azalea has been around for ages. I have childhood friends who used to work at Azalea in high school who recently discovered former co-workers STILL working here! It's pretty much an institution and I love the fact that it's going strong. Sometimes, though, the problem with a long-standing institution is complacency and even over-confidence. I say this as I refer to employee-customer relations. When it comes to the regulars, I've noticed some of the staff addressing them as if they're old friends hanging out at the house. The comfort level is to the point where employees are jovially rude to customers. I bring this up because a childhood friend is at that level with nearly all the bartenders there. Not really a problem since they aren't blatantly crossing any lines, but that rudeness sometimes extends to me, whereas I'm not nearly at that level with the staff. It irks me because I'll order something and get some attitude in return, followed up with a quick smile to let me know they're joking. Sorry, I don't come in often, at least not as often as my friend, and I don't want any lip to go with my pint. Just hit me off with my order and move along. At other times, when I come in by myself or with other friends who aren't so chummy with the staff, I/we get the red carpet treatment - smiles all around, a sense of urgency and no attitude. It's inconsistent at best, and I'm not big on the Jekyll and Hyde routine. If nothing else, they put out some excellent food. Their pizza is fantastic and their prime rib is quietly some of the best in Norfolk. But I'm not here often enough to catch residual flack, albeit the jovial kind, just because of my choice in friends. This is my favorite spot to get pizza in Coastal Virginia. Okay- MAYBE Jet's takes #1, but it's a national chain, so let me give the win to this local spot. I did not have high hopes for The Azalea Inn the first time I visited. The parking lot is a bit run down. It's near the airport. But my friend suggested it last year when we went to see the lights at the Botanical Gardens so I went with it (she was driving). We liked it so much that we ended up returning after the lights for more drinks and to share an appetizer before driving back to VB. When seeing the lights for the 2020 season I returned with my boyfriend, because whenever I think about the lights I now think about that pizza. You can get a personal pizza for under $10. It is a thicker crust with so much cheese! That's what I did my first visit. My boyfriend and I shared a medium to go this time and ate a slice before even leaving the parking lot. The smell was irresistible. I will add that the pizza was still wonderful, but not quite as good as our car slice by the time we made it back to the Oceanfront. I think this is a spot best enjoyed as a dine-in (or in our case parking lot) experience. They do have a large area for a patio during COVID times, but it was cold and we weren't feeling like sitting down for a meal. In addition to their pizza I've heard excellent things about their greek dishes. During my first visit I saw them serve saganaki - the dish where they light the cheese on fire. It was a show stopper- I look forward to feeling comfortable enough to dine in at restaurants again and trying that dish for myself. We used to take the children here when they were little - they are no age 19 y.o. & 22 y.o. It has been a long time since we have been here. We decided to order take out. We have never ordered take out from Azalea Inn prior to this order. The food was absolutley terrible. We ordered two "Philly Steak" sandwiches and a Pizza. The sandwiches were greatly lacking in every way. Very little ingredients and very dry - $12.95. The sandwiches at best were $6.95 sandwiches. The pizza cheese was like chewing on bubbe gum. You literally had to spit it out. Whoever cooked this food does NOT know how to cook. The food was so bad I had to call the restaurant and complain. I think the young lady who answered was maybe a highschool girl - I asked to speak to a manager or someone in the kitchen. She went back to the kitchen and I coule hear the person in the background say that they did not want to talk to me - the girl hung up the phone. Terrible food and terrible communication. When we went years ago the owner was always there. I think he must be much older now and may not be there much, if at all? This place has really gone downhill. The food was so inedible that there is no way we will even consider going back. I think this place has mostly become place to hang out at the bar, drink beer and watch the TV?
