This is for their Goodyear Location at: 1325 N Litchfield Rd. Goodyear, AZ 85395. The female Office Manager is very toxic and the most of the team here follows the example she leads. I was treated very rudely, which I asked her why she is being so mean. Her response was "I am the office manager did you say I am mean?" This was my 2nd visit here and the 1st visit speaking with the administrative staff at the front desk on my 1st appt was in the same manner. After this, I noticed all the signs they have that plaster the glass windows at the check in counter. One of which states that they will not tolerate disrespect, in so many words. . hmm. . In all the decades I've went to medical facilities I've never encountered such a sign. It's obvious the office manager and her staff want to be the ones to dish it out, but when you call them out on it they are not happy. Afterwhich and as I was in the room, room #10 (I believe), right across from the staff desk, I heard the office manager sharing my comment and she than returned a negative comment on what she should do, then as she was walking back into my appt. room her office staff start chanting, "do it, do it, do it" and when the door open they all shut up. Not sure I should have expected anything better from administrative staff, someday in their administrative career they will learn the consequences of their actions. I did record their actions on my phone and will be reporting this to the medical director AZ Pain. This woman should not be an office manager leading a team in her toxicity. I did report this to Dr. Dallas Smith, but the chanting part was after my appt with him and when she came back in the room. I would find it hard to believe that he did not hear the chanting, which makes me question his ethics as well. Reporting him would be the medical board, but administrative staff would be the director. On a side note and with regards to my appt. Dr. Smith advised having an MRI done prior to considering method of treatment, however, when I returned they were resistant on going over my MRI or even telling me if they had the results. They wanted to give an injection only, I asked don't we need to go over my MRI before deciding the method of treatment and that's when the office manager got RUDE. She said "we are already running behind because you were late." I advised I was not late, I arrived at 755Am for my 8AM appt with completed paperwork in hand, went to the restroom and checked in at 759AM. She said well we have to run your paperwork and that's when I asked "why are you being mean?" On a side note my paperwork was complete and it took them all of 10 seconds to scan my paperwork at the front desk and I had a seat. Learn some manners! You are in a medical profession and not everyone is going to be as kind and silent as I was after your little rant. read more

scheduled at 10am with a check in at 9:45. I got there at 9:45 they said there was paperwork and it had to be turned in by 10. I was done and at the window by 10:01. I was then told my apt has been canceled. There was someone in front of me but I was in line paperwork in hand by 10:01. I will never go back to this location in chandler. Jordyn was the girl who told me there was nothing she could do as I was past my apt time by 1 min. I was then told that they needed my paperwork scanned in their system by 10am but 15 minutes prior she had told me to have it to the window by 10am. This took 2 hrs of drive time and babysitter to make happen. Their next apt in casa grande isnt till mid August. I left tge office manager Sarah a vm in hopes she can make things right and get me in sooner. But realistically I need to find another place. As this is terrible ethics. read more

So I have been coming here over a year. I currently have cancer and it had been an issue as you can imagine. My oncologist says it's not big enough to be operable but the pain has been unbearable. AZ PAIN DOCS has been with me the entire time. I was referred to them by MD Anderson and Mayo Clinic. They've gotten me to a place where they've found a combination to take the edge off. More Compassion Needed Today I met a gentleman in one of the halls near the exam rooms. He was sitting hunched over in a chair, in tears, and by himself. Unfortunately, he had failed to make it to the trashcan before vomiting as well. I talked with him for some time and gave him what food I had so he could successfully take his meds. He was a very nice, kind man. Here's what I find sad and appalling: None of the techs working in back attempted to help him or even acknowledge him while I was there. No one cleaned the floor for quite some time either. What I did see however, were lots of scowls and expressions of disdain towards him. We all need to have more compassion for one another. 3 weeks ago I took an office visit with the provider who had the earliest appointment available to put an order in for my injection. I've been waiting thinking insurance was taking a long time to come back with coverage and to schedule my appointment so I called in today to discover the provider I saw, Kate, never input my orders! I have been suffering unnecessarily for 3 weeks now for negligence on a providers part. When I called in the 2nd time today to see why nobody called me back again within a few min as promised they said Kate still hasn't updated anything yet so they don't have an order. Whenever Kate apparently feels like doing her job they'll be able to run through insurance then call me to schedule when there's an appointment available meanwhile I can hardly walk due to the severe pain in my foot that is excruciating with every step. I thought I came here to help with my pain, not to be put in more pain. Don't see Kate. Update: I called again 3 days later on Friday to see if my orders were input. Kate still hasn't done her job. They still have "a message to Kate." Doesn't feel like she made a tiny mistake if she's not checked her internal emails in 3+ days. This is absolutely disgusting. read more

I've been a patient at AZ PAIN DR'S for 6 going on 7 years now, they listen to their patients and offer modern medicine and procedures. Their offices are ran smoothly by staff that care. There is plenty of parking. I haven't had one issue with this business since I decided to use their services. I have had professional services and outpatient services preformed without issue, successfully. Went there last week and saw a completely new provider, who took me off the low-dose, low-strength narcotics I was on for back and knee pain. He cited CDC and company practice guidelines for the treatment decision. Then he referred me to a "holistic" treatment center for suboxone. CDC guidelines do not support suboxone for chronic pain treatment. I got the admission papers for the holistic treatment center, and nowhere did they mention suboxone as part of their treatment plan. I fired AZ Pain Doctors the next day. I had seen Dr. Franke there for years and was doing very well under his care with a combination of procedures and meds. Now he's gone, and the nurse practitioner treated me like an addict. Avoid this practice at all costs. read more

They lie and have no continuity of care when they pass you off to another practitioner. My first couple of visits were great. I was having a surgery, they helped me get through the painful part of that process with medications. I came back to them after another surgery because the practitioners were kind, not judgmental, the front office staff was great but, I got put with two new practitioners this time, Shellie and Dr P, I can't remember his full name but he is the one who put his staff's violations of their office policies on me, told me I didn't have a pain condition I have been diagnosed and treated for by multiple doctors in the past. A recent second surgery flared up this condition and I need nerve blocks in my neck and chest and pain management until those nerve blocks can take effect. Dr P, without speaking to any of my previous diagnosing or treating doctors for this condition, told me I don't have this pain syndrome, but he still was willing to give me injections into my neck and chest to "treat it as if it was CRPS". That's very strange: if he doesn't believe I have this condition, why would he be willing to stick needles into my body? Why wouldn't he just tell me he can't help me because he doesn't understand my condition? He also lied to my father and I about prescribing laws. It is not a law that a practitioner cannot prescribe opiate medication if a patient uses medical marijuana: it's just THEIR office guideline. When my dad asked why he couldn't prescribe something for the pain until I could get the nerve blocks done, his response was, "The DEA". That is not true in the least. I was actually told the first time I went here in October by Dr Bigham that the "no marijuana" was just a guideline in their office, and there was "no need to follow that guideline in my case that he saw". Dr P told me I violated the law on my drug tests, but both Dr Bigham and Ms. Schroeder knew I used marijuana and prescribed for me, telling me if I ever needed to come back again I would have to stop using it, which when I went back this time agreed to. So I guess they violated their own policy, but Dr P told me I was "discharged" the last time I was there for these violations, something I was not aware of because it was another lie, and that I wasn't allowed to come back, that was back in December. But, then they made an appt for me this week in March? He was unwilling to help me until another week, no idea why. This syndrome is awful, and I am in relentless pain. I have already moved on, have an appointment with a couple pain specialists as my case is complex and I am unwilling to trust people who lie or aren't aware of my condition. Whenever I tried to simply speak to dr P, he told me each time, "I'm not going to argue with you." I wasn't arguing, I was trying to have a conversation. Apparently he does not like to talk to or listen to a patient he has already judged. Please understand the medical system is just a retail business now. There are hundreds of doctors in the area that do the same thing this place does. If you do not feel comfortable or feel you are being judged or lied to, just leave. You are not at their mercy. I'd also like to share as I know it has helped me navigate a very broken medical system we have: Arizona is a one consent party state for recording. Unless someone is naked, in a bathroom, or having intercourse, it is absolutely your right as a patient to audio record your doctor's visits and phone calls, and you do not need to tell them. If they aren't doing anything wrong, they shouldn't mind. It has helped me remember things doctors say that I forget, but has also shown me how many offices and practitioners are willing to lie or mistreat patients, and I'm still not quite sure why they do, but it can protect you on your journey to getting healthy and well. If you don't like a doctor, leave! There are many others out there! I thought this place was finally one I could trust, I found out that wasn't the case. It's sad, and I wish anyone being mistreated in the system the best in getting through the roadblocks that seem to be put up to healing by the system and people within it. Blessings. read more

Dr. Pico rocks! In-office appointments run a bit late; I rarely leave the lobby under 15+ minutes. The staff is mostly efficient. Do your best to schedule at the office, as scheduling over the phone can be frustrating...inconsistent. I've encountered more than a few schedulers who would rather argue with me, the patient, about who is right or wrong or about errors made than focus on resolving issues. Don't bother asking to speak to the office manager; they're always 'busy' and, after at least a handful of incidents have NEVER called back after being transferred to their VM. I dread office appointments, but rarely do I see Dr. Pico in-office. It's usually his PAs. Calling the office CAN be laborious. The phone tree sucks the life out of you and one might wait some time to speak to someone. Know what you want and anticipate your own needs (I know, they're the professionals), but you don't want to be in the position of calling back-in. Rinse, repeat, argh. Most importantly, maintain a record: who, what, when, expectations set, etc., when dealing with the office in-person or telephonically. At the Mountainview Surgery Center (where procedures occur) the staff is FANTASTIC. This location is a well oiled machine & professional. I look forward to going there; what a dynamic crew...KUDOS! Dr. Pico is mostly on-time for procedures, but sometimes life happens: traffic, etc. He is cordial, answers questions and is not dismissive as some doctors can be. No doctor has time for BS sessions and patients should neither expect that nor get bent out of shape if it doesn't occur (which I've witnessed). I have so many nice things to say about the care provided to me at this location. My PA is Tanner and he listens very well to my concerns and pays attention to changes in my physical abilities. He works very hard at managing my pain and I am very pleased with my "quality of life" changes. Dr. Pico will get involved as needed and stays abreast of my case. I started with this practice in July while waiting for my spinal fusion surgery. Very nice staff and N.P. Jim B. @ the Mesa office. All visits went well until after my surgery. I needed to make an appointment post surgery, they only had the Chandler office open. I went to that one and saw Mary. She was very condescending and rude. She had 0 empathy with me, and I was 5 days post operation. She excused herself, and had the M.A. come back in with some form to sign, didn't say what it was until I asked her 3 different times. They discharged me from their practice! LET ME BE CLEAR as to why... I had medication prescribed to me FROM THE HOSPITAL!!! Very unprofessional! So much unprofessional behavior! Avoid this pain clinic at all costs! It's all about getting your money, they don't care about the patient. Also, I advise you record all telephone conversations with them and inform them that your conversation is being recorded. They will bill you for visits that you cancel, your recorded conversation is proof that you canceled. Keep documentation on every visit and make sure you record the name, date and time of each and every transaction with this group. They will over charge you and your insurance company. I have had very positive experiences here. Dr. Pico is friendly, informative and professional. I have been to the surgery center 6 times and it is run with precision. Dr. Pico and staff are so friendly, they help calm the nerves and answer questions as needed. I just had one bad experience with one of the nurses doing my last IV before surgery. She was awful. The front office staff is more caring! Be careful and ask a lot of questions- I feel they just wanted my money- my test came up negative for opioids and I made a video of me taking it the day before since this has happened before so I wanted to prove my point! I wasn't lying and they didn't give me another chance nor did they tell me "if this happens one more time we won't be able to help you" what I got was that if it happened again they would have to bring me in for random pee tests and pill counts- which I've done before and passed. I went as a new patient when I moved here from out of state. I've been seeing a pain management doctor for the past 6 years. I had no idea who to go to here, especially since I take Opiods. I met Dr. Pico on my first visit. When I walked into the room, there was male sitting at a computer. No communication at all until I said, "Are you Dr. Pico?" The answer was, without turning around, "No, I'm his PA. " I'm sure if he gave his name, but it was Jim. Pico seemed nice. Put me on all my meds, and that was that. I didn't see him again until 8 months later in Feb. All I saw were three PA's with no communication. The last time I saw Pico was in Feb. When he had a hissy fit and told me that he didn't have any patience for me and to get another pain doctor as he stomped away like a 5th grader. Of course, it was over a misunderstanding because there were too many cooks in the kitchen. He had no records or tablet with him to look up anything to set things right. It was a visit for my monthly meds. He told me that he wasn't going to fill anything and that I apparently still had something f, which I did not. So, he actually let me start going into withdrawal! STAY AWAY FROM THEM. PEOPLE ARE RIGHT. It's like a factory. It's just terrible. I'm forced to give a star, which is the only way I can post this review. read more

4 months later. I ended up going back to have them help me with severe pain that flared up in Q2. I am delighted to say that their front office staff has improved immensely. It appears they have had some front office personnel changes---for the better! A relatively new person, Cassie, is a breath of fresh air, as she is bright, has great customer service skills and has a wonderful personality. It makes such a positive difference. I have been seen by providers Daryl Potter and Mary Steiner, both providing first class care. They listen, are kind and have helped me enjoy life more, as I determine next steps for a more permanent pain relief procedure. That said, my experiences with three ot their providers (Baum, Potter, Steiner) have been excellent, the previous front office issues have been addressed and have improved. I will continue with their skilled care while we work toward a solution to lessen my pain. read more

I don't know why they have so many negative reviews. I have been a patient there for going on 2 years and have been happy with my care there. I am always treated with professionalism and courtesy. I feel like the medical providers have listened to my needs and responded appropriately, as well as offering over-the-counter supplements that I can take to help with pain and migraines. The only reason I am not giving AZ Pain Doctors 5 stars is because it can be really difficult to reach someone over the phone without waiting on the phone for several minutes. And the worst part is they have this horrid recording that plays and replays repeatedly. It is so annoying. I would rather just listen to music than some distorted voice trying to sell me on the same services over and over again. It's the tape loop from hell! Lol. That said, I would recommend this office. I have been going here for 6+ years now. I have always been treated with the utmost respect, and received excellent care. I'm able to comfortably discuss my symptoms and chronic pain issues, and have my provider come up with a workable treatment plan. If the plan isn't working, he adjusts it accordingly. Tanner is kind, patient, responsive, and actually takes the time to listen to me. Living with chronic pain is hard enough. Going to AZ Pain Doctors means I'm treated like a human being. This is so important. My first doctor there was excellent, and I was nervous when he left AZ Pain Doctors to relocate out of state. I was afraid the next doctor wouldn't provide the same level of care. But when I got in to see Tanner, my concerns melted away. He, like every other physician there, provides excellent care. I definitely will continue seeing him as long as treatment is needed. Another bonus: They coordinate with my PCP for continuity of care. They also handle the hassles with my insurance for getting tests, treatments, referrals, etc., approved. Best of all, I can quickly get in to see someone if I have an emergency requiring an office visit. The office is a clean, nicely staffed, professional medical office near Chandler Medical Center. My recommendation: I won't go to anyone else. read more

Summary: conservative with medication, not open to learning about new conditions and treatments, the PA Kelm makes dire mistakes. Dr. pico is good at injections, maybe the best I have ever experienced, but was not a helpful doctor over all. He didn't know how to treat my condition, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, did procedures that are contraindicated even when I warned him against them, and made my medication depending on the costly procedures. He wouldn't read studies about my medical conditions I brought in even though they were published in distinguished journals and peer reviewed. Dr. Pico told me that if I went to see his colleague and that the doctor disagreed with his treatment plan, he would reevaluate and take the suggestion of the other doctor. I saw the other doctor, who disagreed with Dr. pico's treatment plan, and instead of adjust the treatment plan, Dr. pico discharged me from his practice without warning. The PA Kelm, many times told me one thing in clinic, then wrote something different in my chart. She sent me home with wrong prescriptions, or called the wrong ones in, and when I tried to deal with it, I was told I was remembering it wrong. For the record, I have spinal stenosis, hip dysplasia, degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, herniated discs, and Ehlers- Danlos syndrome, and Ankylosing spondylitis. He didn't catch the AS, and both of them said the pain was in my head. read more

AZ Pain Doctors refused me medical care yesterday: I called ahead of time before my appointment and asked if I could record my visit with the doctor because my wife wasn't able to be there and I have a bad memory, also because I've been documenting my injury and my ambulance ride, hospital stay, doctor/surgeon visits for future reference. Reception told me they would call me back with an answer and never did. When I appeared at my appointment, I was not recording but did have my phone in my hand as I often do because I am checking stock prices all day. I was embarrassed by the receptionist in front of other patients and told to turn my phone off because according to the nurse practitioner I had called "threatening" to record, which I never did, last time I checked "asking" is not "threatening" to do something. I said that I was willing to accept that I could not record and comply, but I was not willing to turn my phone off because I was the only one being asked to turn off my phone. The receptionists and Eustacia, the nurse practitioner who was there at the time to see me (who had also canceled my appointment the day earlier with little notice and left me with no pain management strategy after knowing I'm in excruciating pain) were allowing other patrons in the lobby to heckle me and harangue me to turn off my phone, meanwhile they all had their phones in their hands I was asked to leave without being provided medical care because I refused to turn off my cellular phone. I believe I was discriminated against. I was the only person in the lobby who was being asked to turn my phone off. I believe I was refused care due to one of or a few of the following reason: Eustacia, the nurse practitioner who I was scheduled to see the day prior canceled my appointment with little to no notice on the day of that visit and I was not provided with an alternative care provider and left without medical treatment for 24 hours, knowing that I was asking to record my doctor's visit, they did not want to look unprofessional be forced to make excuses on camera, or be confronted on camera for the cancellation of the day prior without making any effort for arrangements to be made to keep me comfortable. I wanted to share this with the neighborhood because I believe that I was wronged and mistreated. I am currently seeking out a lawyer. I will not update you further with what happens with the case however I believe it is imperative for the neighborhood to know what type of businesses operate here to avoid if you can. By the way I was refused care I had major surgery in my hand less than 2 weeks ago and was looking to come off of a strong pain medication with guidance from AZ pain doctors. Keep in mind they refused me care while I was looking for help to come off of strong RX narcotics. For 2 weeks I've been prescribed everything from fentanyl morphine to Percocet to oxycodone then straight to nothing. Not even advice on holistic or temporary methods of relief. When I was given a referral to AZ Pain Doctors I went home and checked their website to see what they were all about. I saw all of the alternative healing methods they allegedly use like radio frequency therapy and other very beneficial healing and pain relief techniques they have at their disposal, I was really looking forward to the prospect of trying these methods for healing and looking forward with confidence that I am in the care of professionals who treat their patients with dignity and care. Now I feel very left out, singled out and mistreated by AZ Pain Doctors. When I got home from my ordeal and thought about how I left out I was and how disappointed I was, I decided that a call to AZ Pain Doctor HR was in order. Kristine, the HR supervisor got on the phone, she refused to hear my side of the story, at all. She interrupted me and instead told me I was harassing AZ Pain Doctors and they were going to call law enforcement (which my LEO buddies have since confirmed they never did.) I'm contacting the medical board and this will be thoroughly reviewed. I'm also going to be speaking with an attorney to represent me in civil court in what will be a complaint against AZ Pain Doctors for inflicting undue pain and suffering against myself whilst conducting what I allege to be malpractice. read more

I won't be going back. On my first visit, the office folks took my ID and insurance card and didn't give them back. They called later in the day and told me I had to come back to get it. That's a 2 hour round trip, and they have my driver's license. I asked if they could Fedex it back, or mail registered so it wouldn't get lost. They refused. Now I have to find a ride back there, an hour each way. They didn't forget to collect their payment, but they forgot my cards, and now I have to pay for their mistake. read more

Unfortunately folks, and my own personal opinion this is not the business that you want to visit if you truly are in pain all the time The reason that I say what I say is following I was a patient here for approximately 6 or 7 months and everything was fine until my last visit. On my last visit I was notified that they were no longer going to adequately treat my pain and instead they were going to begin dialing me down with the eventual plan of completely taking my medications away from me I can see how taking an opiate medication over a long period of time could prove to be dangerous that is quite possible but when you have constant chronic pain to the point where it's hard to get off the bed and then on top of that medical situation you are morbidly obese and so the wait on your joints and your spine compounds everything else to the point that it's even hard to take a shower because you have true spine Trauma from an actual accident and there are CT scans to prove it it just doesn't make sense to take away something that give somebody a better quality of life I think their decision is completely political I think they use people for the six months of billing that they can get out of them before the Drug Enforcement Administration begins to look at them and so that they're never accountable for anything and don't have to worry about being audited they use you for 6 months and then kick you out so before they could kick me out I decided to let them go When I asked for a second opinion from another doctor I learned that they had given personal opinions and that they had been vindictive behind my back while communicating with the prospective new pain management doctor who at that time decided that they were going to refer me out to a drug rehab I have never shown signs of addiction or behaviors that would lead someone to believe that I was using the medication to get high read more
