I have been through several cleaning and maintenance appointments and I start ortho in January. So we have received a good amount of services from them and attended many appointments with them. Everyone is always awesome! The front desk is always friendly and knowledgeable. They are always very on top of paper work and billing procedures. A human answers the phone every time I've ever called (during business hours)!! It amazing. This office gives me the feeling of dentists offices from the past where we weren't patient number blah blah blah.. They've always treated Brian and myself like family and give us the feeling they really care. They know our names and although we typically visit separately because of our schedules, everyone asks "how's Brian?" or "how was the wedding?" Signaling that they've taken the time to remember things about their patients and care about our lives outside of just billing our insurance. This is especially evident in long time employees like Nedra. This woman is amazing. She has a firm but loving way of letting you know what to focus on while not making you feel judged or put down. She relates with empathy while pushing for better from you in regard to your oral hygiene. I so enjoy going here and am very much looking forward to partnering with them on my ortho journey!!

I come back on Monday and the immediately start telling me that I'm gonna blame them for breaking the flipper. What? I'm here because you guys told me to come back. To make it even worse, they proposed more work to be done afterwards which I declined as I would be returning to my regular dentist and that's when there demeanor changed and I was walked out of the office through a back/side door, not the front as you would normally enter and exit the office which clearly made me feel like just a number at that point and because I said no I was kicked out the back door like trash. No sinks in rooms for handwashing. No hand cleaner on wall. As a public health nurse I find this unbelievable. Went in for pain in a molar. Needed a root canal. Root was fractured too far down and the endodontist who was very good stopped the procedure and stated I needed extraction. Paid in full for procedure. They billed my insurance 6 x what I paid! Had the tooth pulled. The DMD did not want to use sedation which was fine. Stated it would only take 5 minutes. He did not read that they had tried to do the root canal. The tooth came apart and 40 minutes later her was still trying to get the tooth out. He damaged the crown next to the tooth. I came down with thrush and a upper respiratory bug a couple days later. I paid cash for the procedure at the rate they quoted. They billed my insurance $6000! I will be reporting this and finding another dental practice.

I made an appointment for a cleaning and to follow up about a crown that was suggested by Dr. Smith…read morewho owned the practice prior to selling it to Dr. Tobon. My last cleaning and exam was 9 months ago and they did bite-wing X-rays. The first thing I was told by the hygienist, was that they needed to give me full mouth X-rays. I said I didn't want to do that if my insurance didn't cover it and I really don't want to be exposed to X-rays unnecessarily. Dr. Tobon was obviously either being flagged down by the hygienist or was listening and came in to discuss it. Upon entering the room, he introduced himself and began by saying, "this is my dental practice. I bought it and I own it now and I understand you have some questions." I explained my concerns and then, in a condescending tone and speaking to me like Mr. Rogers does to a child, said that he likes to take X-rays every 6 months. He started telling me stories of how they could miss a cavity and tried to relate stories of the past where people suffered mightily by not having cavities detected. I explained that I haven't had a cavity in 25 years and I would agree to the X-rays if my insurance covered it but I didn't want to do them more than once per year. I further explained that I was being treated for skin cancer and although it's not related, more X-rays instead of less X-rays was not something I wanted. He then went into a long diatribe about how he cares about his patients and was a veteran and other irrelevant information that was supposed to have me let him do whatever he wanted because he is a good guy. He said things like, "I am the professional here." and "We need to have a trust with each other and allow me to do the things I deem necessary because I care about my patients." Further, he was saying if insurance wouldn't cover it, that he would "work with me", as if he wanted me to be put on a payment plan or something to pay for non-covered procedures. Without knowing my situation, background or circumstances, the implication was that I couldn't afford to pay and not that it might be a principle issue of doing no more than what my insurance plan covers or a genuine concern of X-ray exposure. Honestly, he came across as a used car salesman who was trying to get me to succumb to his pushy tactics by making it some melodramatic "trust" issue while basically talking down to me because he is a dentist. (I guess he doesn't get that some people might have more advanced degrees than him) He said "If you think there might be a trust issue between us, maybe you should consider another dentist." Tired of trying to simply get my cleaning, exam, bite wings and the discussion of my crown done, I got up and left. My impression is that he tries to scare people to into procedures and has no understanding of empathy because he is a business owner more than he is a medical professional (as shown by the way he introduced himself).

Worst…read morewas the hygienist was VERY rough and caused gum issues, then sent us to another dentist costing us additional money only to find it was HER roughness that required antibiotics to cure. And they then refused to admit issues or reimburse us for the alternate dental that wasn't needed. Get another opinion before choosing them!
