Deliciously complex bbq sandwich. It makes my United States roots jealous. This no frills menu was easy to navigate and frankly, a steal compares to Chicago. I tried their special brisket sandwich, recommended by the cashier. A heaping pile of tender, smokey, savory brisket is piled hight on a buttery brioche bun topped with black sesame seeds. Visually a beautiful sandwich. I dashed to the air conditioned building and started engulfging this bad boue. The sharp cheese complimented the meat well, which was blow torched to melty perfection by the chef. I love this because she keeps the meat moist and juicy while giving the cheese that browning it deserves. The sandwich leans toward the acidic side over sweet, with some spicy pickle slices. It's a Canadian BBQ rodeo on this palate, please sir can I have some more?

Smoked cheeseburger and fresh onion rings!

Wifey sent me out to Atwater market yesterday (love that place, I do most of the cooking in my house). It was just before lunch and I entered by the food service area so the thought of grabbing a quick bite sounded like a good idea. As I walked past all the small take away storefronts nothing caught my eye other than a sign for a smoked cheeseburger special of the day. Bummer, I just had a burger at Vallier the other day so I passed and kept walking. I made it about 10 feet and stopped in my tracks, something smelled really good and I had to investigate. Sure enough, it was Aylwin BBQ. I guess two burgers in one week isn't going to kill anyone...so I plopped down my $20 (tax and tip included) for the burger and onion rings combo with a fresh pink lemonade. Oh yeah, that's how to do it! Imagine a BBQ smoke ring on a juicy burger, I'm not sure how they do it without overcooking the burger but it was delicious! The rings were thin and crispy and the lemonade was perfect. What a great lunch, I'm a fan!

I thought this place was really good BBQ! For $16 (tax included), I got the platter which had a slice of brisket, 2 little pieces of chicken, a generous helping of coleslaw, a bread roll, and an assortment of pickles (I also got a slice of key lime pie for $4 and a pink lemonade for $3.50). Initially, my thought was: only 1 slice of brisket? Kind of disappointing. I was wrong. That slice was: (I) delicious and (II) very filling due to its really tasty fat marbling. I loved it. The chicken was amazing too! Very nice and pleasant smokiness. Everything else complemented the "Q" as well. I especially liked the assortment of pickles. In the end, I couldn't even finish the plate! The key lime pie was wonderful but, next time, I'll pass on the pink lemonade. It tasted fine but it clearly provided me with the lowest "utility-to-cost" ratio on my plate. Water may work better with this meal anyway. Will definitely come back!

Wow, this was a perfect lunch! I had the daily bisket and chicken platter and everything had so much flavour, the quantity is just right. The meat super tender and juicy and could get enough of the salad. You won't be disapointed.

I travelled to many many countries and this is the best brisket burger/sandwich I ever had. Wow is the word. The key lime pie is outstanding too. Do not miss this place when you visit Montreal

AMAZING!! The barbecue is incredible. I tried the 3 meat platter with a side of beans. All of the meats were very tender and had nice flavour. The employees are very nice and dedicated to customer service. A must-try at the market

Great place in the Atwater market. One of the best briskets I've ever had. I would recommend getting the straight brisket over the sandwich, but both are excellent!

Located in the heart of Old Port, this small joint offers a simple menu of bbq meats and sides. There is only beef ribs, porc ribs, pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken, served with your choice of mac and cheese, coleslaw and baked beans. There are no appetizers and no deserts - however there is a cocktail and drinks menu. I do find it odd that the food menu is not posted on the website, nor on their social media. I saw some outdated photos of the menu other customers posted. The only place to see a physical menu is on the outside of the restaurant itself, otherwise once seated, there is nothing printed and the server will be the one to talk through the options. My partner and I opted for the beef ribs (there is an extra $7 for this option), pork ribs and smoked chicken. The meats were all very tender but lacked flavor - as if there was not enough seasoning or sauce. We had sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was very good, but not amazing and expensive for around $40 a person to start with plus the surchage for beef ribs. Cocktails were around $17. Very pricy dinner, for this, I expected larger portions. I found the Texas bbq experience to be lacking despite the website claiming this is Texas style. They surely do not serve American sized portions. I am a slim female with a healthy appetite and was disappointed in the lack of food, especially for the sides. There are maybe 3 or 4 bites of coleslaw or mac and cheese in each serving, yet these are the cheapest foods I don't understand why they couldn't be more generous. The time it took to prepare the food and serve us was also puzzling. We arrived when the restaurant just opened and were among the first to order yet waited probably a good half hour or more before our food arrived. The meats are all cooked in advance and I suspect the sides were as well - as we overheard a server mentioning the food is smoked in St-Eustache which is North, outside the island of Montreal. There are no smokers on site at this restaurant. I am glad I tried this place as there is a shortage of good BBQ within Montreal - however due to the portion size, slow service, price and location I would not come back. Unfortunately there is no parking nearby so be ready to pay upwards of $25-$30 for a paid parking lot, or take public transit if you can.

I thought I had pre-booked a reservation, and we were running late. Parking in this area can be a trick. I dropped my wife off and continued to locate parking. She contacted me and said there was no reservation. I panicked as I parked my truck and sifted through my emails for a confirmation. I hustled the 0.4 miles back to her. When I went in the hostess said it wouldn't be a problem and brought us to a table. My wife later told me she was offered tea while she waited. The waiter was on spot. He knew their menu and provided us with his insights. All the food was Devine. Beautifully laid out and brought out each course in the perfect time. My wife loved the hibachi, she doesn't eat much in general and I do most of the cooking at home. She couldn't get enough of putting items in the hibachi and moving them around. Guess I need a hibachi at home lol. Also my wife is 86 pounds, so she gets cold easy. The hibachi was the perfect personal heater too!! We had a great time together. The ambiance had that perfect Japanese appeal, while still modern. I used to live in Japan so I can be skeptical when it comes to Japanese flair & food. This establishment did not disappoint. So if you are in Montreal, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Side note, pricing is very reasonable considering what is included in packages. And the Saki I had was delicious and looking it up for the going rate they make around $5 per bottle based on what they sell it for and market retail price (place around the corner up charges 110%). So you are more than getting what you pay for in my opinion. And sometimes you just cannot put a price on excellent service! We will definitely be returning when we venture. To Montreal again.

The spring rolls taste like the frozen veggie ones from Asian supermarkets. The salad and rice were also nothing special. However, the for value it's not bad. We got the premium set for 2, which was $120 (tax & tip included). For anyone that's not a big eater, it's a good alternative to gyubee. Service was very attentive although the kitchen was quite slow. Our appetizers came 1 hour after our meats arrived, which was a bit strange. Ambiance is a bit cold since the tables are so close to the doors, so we constantly felt a gust of cold air during our visit.

No more wonderful steak Philly on the Friday. Most of what was offered on that daily menu is permanently gone. They added many different poutine that actually existed before but part of a secret menu you could learn from their social network page. Some starter too. They change the recipe of some of the food. The Mac N cheese is now more creamier and the cheese is more present and flavourful. I never had it by itself, but in the poutine Mac TeX, it's a miss for me. It used to be the poutine I always take when I go there, poutine Mac TeX. Tried it 4 times already since the switch, always the same and I don't like it unfortunately. Maybe others don't. From the post they made on Instagram stating that it was now creamier due to popular demand, I guess that's how people like it. But I think people was taking it by itself and not into a poutine (I never see much people eating a mac te when I'm there). Also the new Mac N cheese on the Mac TeX make it you taste nothing except the creamy liquid cheese from the Mac N cheese, nothing else. I normally add the homemade steak sauce available on the table in the poutine and when I tried it with the new recipe, it wasn't good. I also trie the dirty Poutine. I totally forgot what it is. There's like 2 sauce, I think it's meat sauce? Sorry I really forget. It was good, but about half way through, I was done with the taste just like the current Mac TeX. I still finished it though. Again, it's not bad, everyone has different taste and I started by liking it. I had the same experience when eating the smashburger poutine after eating a smash burger. Don't do it, take either one, not both unless your really into the taste of smashburger cause that's the only thing you taste. Last time I went, I took again the smashburger double cheese and bacon, a must for me, and I took a regular poutine. First time in what, 2 years and at least 30 visit that I take the regular one. It was good. I do miss my og Mac TeX but it's a good replacement. The bonus is it cost about 10$ less and fill less, so I was able to take something off the desert menu for the first time. I toon the chocolate cake and it was very good. The service is always good when I go there. It might be a bit a miss when it's overbooked specially if your table is hidden In a corner (happened a bit in the past). The only reason I bring from 5 to 4 stars is only because I prefered the old menu and old recipe. I did talk to a staff last time about the Mac TeX recipe and was told sometime it's because of new chef. I guess he wasn't aware that the recipe actually change, he did seemed new since I hadn't seen him before. I'll talk to jack or one of the owner last time, not to bad mouth, simply to have feedback from customer on the menu.
