Delicious smoked meat and fall-off-the-bone ribs! This place really knows how to do barbecue right. The smoked meat was flavorful and juicy, and the ribs were perfectly cooked, tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The ambiance was just right, comfortable, laid-back, and with a great vibe whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. If you're craving quality BBQ with great service and a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must-try! When in Montreal, the best we all can try. Highly recommended.

12/25- MINUS -5 if I could. Ordered a smoke meat poutine, 2 reg smoke meat sandwiches and a smoke meat plater + 2 coffees. $104!! WTH? Disappointed! Sandwich platter was riddled with FAT. When I spoke to a server, the answer was, "I can't do anything. They'll make you order another sandwich" Really? She finally came back w 2 slices of smoke meat on a plate. NOT worth the hype.. small crowded cafeteria style dinning area. Music screeching loudly in the background. Meat full of fat and grease.

This was our first lunch stop as soon as we got to Quebec. We came here for the smoke sandwiches and poutines. The sandwich itself was okay, the meat is tender but it there wasn't much flavours to it. It was missing some salt or something. The poutine was pretty good. But we find it odd that the potatoes had a stevia after taste. Not sure if that's usual. The service was pretty quick once we ordered our food. But the line to the counter can be quite long. We waited about 30 minutes before we made our order. The place itself is like a retro place. It has a good amount of seating inside and outside.

01/24/25 Smoke Meat Pete's is good company, great eats, and has an amazing atmosphere (it is a no BS place)! It's not a fancy restaurant, but has amazing food! The poutine was phenomenal, the spaghetti was amazing and the spoke meat was TO DIE FOR!! One thing to note is when their are live performances, it gets really loud so I wouldn't recommend going to Smoke Meat Pete's after 7pm with young children. Another thing to note is that there is no direct table service, so to order food you have to go to the ordering counter. Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 5

If you're travelling from Montreal towards Ontario on the 20 and are feeling at all peckish, stop in at Smoke Meat Pete. The smoked meat sandwiches are very good and for us, is easier to get to than Schwartz's and easier for parking as well. It is indeed a casual restaurant where you order at a window, pay, collect your drinks and go off to find a table. There's Blues playing on the audio system and a stage for a live band. Of course at 2PM on a Wednesday there's no live entertainment. The staffer taking our order was patient, friendly, and even offered to help carry some of our drinks to our table. Food arrived quickly and clearly it all had just been prepared. The smoked meat was hot and very tasty. The fries out of the fryer are dark but clearly started as fresh cut. They really tasted of potatoes and that seem rare in these time when just about everyone seems to use factory made frozen. Pickle slices and coleslaw accompany the combo special in addition to a sandwich and a fountain drink. We ordered a vac packed full piece to bring home with us. Smoke Meat Pete's was a welcome stop on the way back to Toronto from Quebec City. However, next time I'm ignoring Waze and going around the city rather than crossing at the Champlain bridge and having to inch along the 20. bon apetit

Pete's platter! smoked meat Sammy, fries pickles and coleslaw

Yum yum yum yum GOOD FOOD. Best gravy I've ever had! Busy restaurant, can be intimidating when you first walk in (maybe that's just me though lol) but the food quality is SO worth it!

As soon as you enter, you stand in line to place your order. It's not a long wait.

If you're not a native Montrealer, you have to try smoked meat while you're in town! There are several places to have smoked meat in and around Montreal but Smoke Meat Pete's is definitely one of the more popular spots (and for good reason). Service is incredibly fast and (mostly) pleasant. It's a busy place so I wouldn't want to be too hard on the servers. I've had the smoked meat several times before and it's always amazing. My most recent experience involved me trying something new- a smoke meat pasta (it's DELICIOUS). Depending on how many people are dining, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Just keep in mind how they pile each sandwich a mile-high with meat, and portion sizes of non-smoke meat dish are also quite large. Overall, it's a great spot for a "vacation" dinner or for grabbing a bite with friends.

Smoke Meat Pete was the perfect place to highlight this milestone. A relaxed, casual, cafeteria style deli, serving wonderful, lean and juicy, thick cut slices of smoked meat that were among some of the best we've had and with Pete's (Varvaro) historic background that's no surprise at all. But, that's not all the île-Perrot institution is great at. A poutine worthy of the name, some truly mouth-watering sides and delicious ribs are just more reasons to revisit. They also have a very interesting house beer : "Pete's Kick-Ass Brew" which is just that. The live blues bands complete the lively, fun atmosphere and spectucular, freindly, quick service with the kitchen busting out orders at an almost impossibly fast rate, add to an already marvellous time. This dying breed of restaurant experience is a must try and definitely worth the drive out to L'île-Perrot. You can't beat Pete's meat! (we need to go back and buy that shirt... They ran out )

I grew up in the 1980s in Montreal. Smoked Meat sandwiches are an institution. Hallowed places like Schwartz still operate but many have closed. Don't fear. The traditional Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich is still available as authentic as ever at Smoke Meat Pete's. Stop by on your way to Montreal from Ontario. This is a must try. Go on a Friday night for smoked meat and live blues. Totally Montreal experience. Can't beat Pete's meat!!!

If you're driving in from Toronto or driving to Toronto, consider stopping by Smoke Meat Pete to grab a quick bite. It's a busy lunchtime spot, but the tables turn quick so it wasn't a long wait, plus they offered samples when in line. Pete's Special comes with a smoked meat sandwich, fries and a fountain drink. The spices in the smoked meat really come through, but it's still too salty for my taste. The sandwich is a big one and fresh fries were really good too.

(Visited 12/9/2019.) So smoked meat is a HUGE thing here in Montréal. Schwartz's is the big name downtown, but what about other competition? Especially since Schwartz's is cash-only, I HATE cash-only places. I looked up some more places that are known for their smoked meat and I found this place. It was about a 25 minute drive out of downtown to get here, but it was totally worth it and here's why. Atmosphere/Appearance: Away from the city life seems to slow down just a bit. This place is a stand-alone restaurant with it's own private parking lot and looks like a big ol' house. It speaks to the kind of family-like experience you're going to have here. Once up the wooden steps you walk in and are greeted by the ordering counter. The menus are up above for you to gaze at before placing your order. Once your order is placed you go sit down and your food is brought to you. Like I mentioned earlier, this place is like a big house. The dining room is basically a giant living room with tables all pointing toward the stage. Yes, stage and there was a live music performance today! They have live music every Monday. That's awesome. Service: There isn't much service since you go place your order then go sit down, but everyone was very nice and I had everything I needed. Food: So I went with the "Jumbo Special" which comes with the sandwich of course, a pickle spear, coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Well, you get to choose other sides, but I chose those. Lol. Everything was very, very good and certainly worth the drive out here. Value: (All prices in $CAD.) The Jumbo Special was only $18.85 and that's a great deal for all of the food that you get for sure. In conclusion, if you're looking to not spend cash, dine in a much larger establishment, not be rushed out after eating, see live music, not hunt for a parking spot AND just feel more at home... eat here. Lol.

Came here to grab some goodies as all my friends rave about this place !…read more I must say it was incredible! The rave is for their Chicken Cutlet Sandwich... It was delicious but missing some love inside .. it was a very dry piece of chicken breast with not much sauce inside and I don't know it was pretty bland and dry not enough tenderness and or flavour. It was still great .. they heat it in a panini press so its fresh and delicious I added some cheese and eggplant salad but it was still pretty dry. That's something I wouldn't get again. The focaccia bread was amazing 5+++ freshlybaked! Service: ok a little busy so they were ignoring us at first Ambiance : very fast pace to go kinda shop but it was pretty clean and easy .. thankfully they don't rush you to make an order and you can take your time! Cheers

The focaccia bread was to die for. Cooked just right and tons of flavours. Will go back just for this. They had a backery on site but did not get anything this time around Enjoy

I was asked to work in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and someone recommended going to this place for lunch…read moreas opposed to one of the restaurants on Saint Anne Street so I decided to give this place a try. The other place which was recommended to me to try was the cafeteria inside John Abbott College (but I decided not to go there for no particular reason). Cafe Twigs is located at McGill University's Macdonald Campus (on the West Island in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) in the Macdonald Stewart building. It is a small cafe which serves lunch/breakfast food along with the usual snacks. Lunch starts at 11:00am (breakfast offerings finish at that time). For lunch, I decided to get one of their sandwiches as opposed to one of their hot meal plates. Their sandwiches are named after people (I'm assuming named after the people who work at this place). The sandwiches are pre-made and when I ordered it, I was asked if I wanted it toasted to which I answered yes. The person placed it into one of these grill machines while I waited and looked at their board hanging on the wall. I saw that they had chili so I decided to order a large chili as well. The sandwich was made ready in a few minutes and I grabbed my chili and sandwich which were placed on the counter and headed to the cash to pay (and get my spoon and napkins). They accepted credit cards and their machine was one of the touch machines so went very smoothly. They didn't ask me if I wanted my bill and immediately threw it in the waste basket. I found the prices to be fair or slightly expensive for what I got. It wasn't what I would consider to be inexpensive nor was it what I would consider to be overly expensive. For my meal, it was a little less than $13.00 which didn't include a drink. As a basis of comparison, the large vegetable chili here was ~$5.00 and it is smaller than a Wendy's large chili and the Wendy's chili includes meat. There were a few seats which were empty so I had my lunch there. This place is like a university cafeteria so most of the customers are university students and the seats get taken up pretty fast at lunch time. The sandwich that I had was pretty good. It was called the "T.J" and the chili was also very good for a vegetable only chili (I normally prefer a meat chili).

My usual order is a panini with chicken, avocado, brie cheese, mustard, hummus, tomato and spinach. While the prices may seem just a bit high for some items, it is VERY worth it. For my sandwich, the amount of brie cheese they use alone would cost the amount of the sandwich. It is delicious and I am craving one as I type.
