Zero stars. Ayers took a 30% deposit for crawlspace work that our HOA didn't approve -- and then refused to refund us even though no work ever started. The salesperson told us they had worked in our complex before and were familiar with the property type. Our HOA confirmed that was not true and that Ayers had recently declined work here because they don't work on wood foundations -- which ours has. We canceled immediately, provided written HOA denial, and followed every request for documentation. Ayers still refused the refund. Buyer beware! I hired Ayer's to fix a problem with water leaking into my basement. Quote was $18,900 to redo our interior French drain and install a second sump pump. I paid a deposit of 30% or $5658. Work began and when the contractor (apparently Ayer's contracts out their jobs) dug a new pit for the second pump, he said my house does not have a footer and he could not continue the job. He did finish installing the 2nd sum pump. The sales person we worked with created a change order for our job and said we would receive a refund of $3411. However, Ayer's refunded us only $1882 with no explanation. Despite repeated attempts to contact them, we heard nothing. I reported Ayer's to the BBB and only then did Ayer's respond by saying our only option was to take them to arbitration - which would cost me more than the refund they still owed me. I did bring in a structural engineer who said my lack of a footer (my house is more than 100 yrs old) is not uncommon and not a problem and that my house is sound. The structural engineer referred me to another waterproofing company that completed the job for about half of what Ayer's quoted me. They did a fantastic job, explained everything, and did a nice clean up afterward. One more thing, the company that actually did the job right found that the sump pump put in place by Ayer's was just lined with a CUT OFF PLASTIC TRASH CAN! read more

Biggest scam I e ever experience. The charged me 40k after interest to fix my sagging foundation, and fix my flooding crawl space. After an impressive sales pitch I signed the contract and had them do the "work". dusing the sales pitch they told me they would level my floors, and install equipment to prevent my crawl space from flooding every year. They explained this will be a multiple day project and I would have to rip up my floor to give the access to the foundation. So I ripped up my floor, and had them come in to do the work. They were in and out in about 4 hours, and left me with still sagging floors. after Getting in the crawl space myself I discovered that multiple of the jacks that they installed to lift the foundation, weren't even touching the joists. And to this day, my crawl space still floods with a foot of water every spring. I contacted Ayer's to see what can be done, after all they advertise all over the internet how good their customer care is. After contacting them I was offered no form of help or compensation. After expressing my experiences with them on social media they blocked me, removed my reviews and comments, and they no longer reply to my emails. They have the WORST "customer care", and worst quality of work out of any business I have worked with in the past. Do not let the impressive sales pitches fool you. So now after hiring Ayer's I have, sagging floors, a flooding crawl space, and 40k less than I had before I hired them. After speaking with many other past clients of Ayer's I have learned that unfortunately I am not the only person that has had these issues. Ayers provided driveway raise/repair services 8 months ago. Equipment malfunctioned, causing an 'explosion' of resin used in their process to adhere to sections of home siding, stairs, pillars, and banisters. Technicians onsite acknowledged their responsibility to repair this, which will require sanding and repainting. I have had text message exchanges with the technician and left numerous voicemails for management with Ayers home office over the last eight months, and have received zero return calls regarding this matter. What could have been easily resolved for $200 in paint and labor, is now requiring the BBB and state Attorney General's office. Pathetic. read more

My mother paid them over $30,000 to install their system. It created mold & air quality and issues in her basement. Their system did not work and caused damage. She had no mold issues in the 30 years she owned the home until after using Ayers. When she complained to them she was bullied and intimidated by their employees. They told her there was nothing they could do and that it was her fault that their system didn't work. They repeatedly lied to her and demonstrated they did not know what they were talking about. The employees with Ayers are some of the most untrustworthy people we have ever dealt with. Their entire basement system does not guarantee a fix and may not work as they advertise. I would give them zero stars if I could. What a complete scam. Their response was simply that the we didn't use the humidifier correctly and closed the door to the mold infected room. However, the humidifier was set EXACTLY as they specified and THE DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED UNTIL AFTER THE MOLD APPEARED! This was done so the mold would not spread. Our unfortunate experience with Ayers began with an impressive sales pitch. The price did include a permit they said they would have to pull. They went ahead and scheduled us for the next week. The morning of our appt, with all of our stuff moved in such a way that no one could easily access anything (home office, computer, bills, etc), they called and rescheduled. The soonest they could get us in was an entire month out. The second appt was made and once again, they rescheduled the morning of. Once they showed up, we were shocked at how young the kids were. We told them that we had dogs and cats. Both were put up in rooms where they couldn't bother the workers. However, once they left for the day, our gate was left wide open. Luckily when we let our dogs out, they didn't notice the open gate. Another issue we had is that they left the front screen door propped open. It was a very windy day in April and the wind blew our screen door off the hinge because it was left open. The workers were there for 2 whole days. In that time they jackhammered our concrete floors, installed a pipe from the leaking window all the way to where our sump pump pumps water outside. We were told by our sales person we would have a small concrete seam. What we were left with was a huge trail of uneven concrete work that followed the pipe and it was a good foot wide. The concrete was so uneven that a piece of tile wouldn't lay correctly if we tried to do so. Then we looked at the work around the window. They put holes in the concrete to the outside of the house. They was a piece of plastic blocking a larger hole that was not flush to the concrete. Even now that piece of plastic allows the most water in. To explain that absolute absurdity of what they did is a hard task. There was rag blocking a pipe to the outside. We have no idea why but it was stuck all the way in with purpose. The outside pipe isn't even connected to the pipe that goes to the sump pump drain. Now we have new leaks that are all over the basement. We had a plumber come and look at the pipe and he dumped over 5 gallons of water into their pipe (drains into the sump pump area) and absolutely nothing came out of the other end. So where is it going? When the kids left, they tried to collect the full balance. We refused. The sales person, owner, and a few other people from Ayers contacted us. The only thing they said is that they would come back out and "fix the problem". At this point they have drilled holes into our house, broke up concrete, and made the leaking go from one to area to the majority of our basement area. At this point we want them to never touch our house again. They were condescending in every way. We were told that they would have a really good team come to our house to fix their mistakes. Shouldn't all of your teams be GOOD TEAMS? Ayers acknowledged they messed up. They said it was their fault. They only wanted to send more people into our home to what????? Fix the huge holes and jacked up work? Why would we trust them again?? At this point we had read some other complaints about Ayers. One said to check your permit. We did. No permit was ever pulled and yes, they did charge us for one. Then, they argued with us about needing one. We had checked with Mason County building inspectors and were told that we did need one. Ayers assured us that they didn't (after charging us for one). Come to find out, they were told they needed one and quickly pulled one. So, all of this work was UNPERMITTED. They played that down like it was no big deal. Ayers has ruined our basement. Not only did they not fix the problem, but they made it leak EVERYWHERE. The first big rain we had after they destroyed our basement, we had an inch of water standing in our entire basement. We went from a small leak that prevented us from finishing part of the basement to our entire basement being flooded. We have to have Servpro come and clean up the flood damage and mold. We had to throw away furniture. Our son had nice guitars that had flood damage. We had electrical equipment that shorted out. It is unreal. They were notified of our predicament and the Vice President was nothing but condescending. They are using scare tactics and threatening to put a lien on our house to secure the final payment. I had my 125-year-old home lifted by Ayers with their smart jack systems. I was extremely worried given all the water and electrical on or around the beam. They sent out two of their employees, David and Todd and these two guys did a wonderful job installing nine jacks under the beam and taking all the precautions necessary not to disturb any of the water and electrical. I would recommend this company as this was not a small job for such a large house. They used a hydraulic system to drive down twenty feet in the back to stable ground, this was tedious endeavor working around everything they had to work around. Ayers replaced our egress window and insert. The process up until install was standard. The window was installed and although we knew that they weren't responsible for lawn damage, we could not believe the amount of damage caused to our lawn and irrigation lines. That weekend after the install we had a huge rainstorm. We had questions/concerns regarding the install. The next 2 weeks were spent chasing the office and the salesman for any support whatsoever to address our concerns. We weren't asking for anything to be fixed or accused them of doing anything wrong. We just wanted someone to come out and talk with us. I got the runaround (and attitude) from the front office and promises about being called tomorrow or the next day or the next never came. Finally after too many phone calls someone finally showed up and I was able to talk to them about our concerns. But by that point, I was just as done with them as they were obviously done with me. After a week of run around and phony empathy we were told no refunds after 72 hours (which is law anyway). This has neen one of the worst experiences I have had. Ayers showed up in early August as scheduled. The young men doing the project, although polite, did a poor job! I have called Ayers several times and can not get them to return my calls. My contractor who cut my floors out, so Ayers could work unencumbered, can not put my floors back down until Ayers fixes their mess/errors. The salesman, Rob, who assured me he would oversee my job has never been in contact with me since I signed and paid for the contract!! My contractor has sent Rob, Ayers salesman, pictures of the substandard work performed by Ayers and I still haven't heard from him. Also, I was told I would receive a copy of my receipt, which was paid in full, in the mail but have never received it. I am in the process of getting an attorney involved as I should not have to live with only being able to use the middle of my rooms and having my floor torn up around all of my exterior walls and having unsafe living conditions If anyone meeds basement/crawl space work I can not encourage you enough to use another more professional company!!! read more

The sump pump installed and drain line outside was not working properly and water is still leaking in the basement. My appointment for installation was rescheduled for over a month and the clean up was not completed after the instal. Also, the washer wasn't working properly and the hose was leaking since the installer did not connect the appliances back to see if they were working correctly. Please take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. One star is excessive! Yes, if you put a deposit down you only have 3 days to request it back, that's pretty common practice here in MI. Personally I changed my mind the next day and they were super friendly and understanding. The initial consultation was SO thorough and informative, they'll try to price match competitors - honestly I'd recommend calling them even if you're not sure. I was told how much I needed this system and that I would be amazed on how much water would be removed from my walls. I was sold a system for almost 15k. My salesman later told me I would still want to fix the main problem outside after they were paid. (I feel I was hustled) 1st visit they cracked my foundation and moved a support post without checking with the engineer. Also 80% of the seems were not sealed, the cracked most of my concrete under my furnace, plumbing was coming out of the wall, the plastic was supposed to be tight to the wall and most was 3-4 inches away and they left 2 holes in concrete. 2nd visit same crew, slapped a shotty patch on the crack in my wall, they used hydraulic cement and mortar looking, sloppy. They didn't fix the plumbing coming out of the wall, they cemented the floor under my furnace but made it so no water could drain. Also the seams were no better and the concrete was splashed all over . 3rd visit they tried to use duct tape to get the seams better but that did not work. The cement was still blotchy. The crack was still spreading the plumbing still coming out of the wall and they drilled small holes in the concrete were they cemented the drain closed. Also test ports for drainage were cemented shut. 4th visit they came out with another crew and redid 80-90% of the work. They re drilled bigger holes by the furnace and got it about 60-70% better. Now after the concrete has settled I have cracked all over and they refuse to fix them. My foundation crack is spreading and they will only fix it if I sign off my right and that even if the crack spreads after the patch they will not be back to fix it. I chose not to sign away my rights. Whether or not, I can take legal action I have no idea, but was not gonna sign off my right, especially for a fix that may or may not work and them not be responsible to fix it if it gets worse. End of the day I feel like I was lied to and sold a product that I didn't need. I spent almost $15,000 and found out I could've spent $4500 to fix the problem outside of the house.. I've been dealing with them for almost a year and had nothing but a headache they came today to try to get me to sign away my legal rights for a patch job that may not work. They did come out again saying they would do more patching but it wouldn't keep my wall cracks from spreading. Customer service at the corporate level is a joke. My elderly mother suffered a stroke and was hospitalized the week her driveway project was due to be done. We notified Ayers and asked that the project be put on "hold" pending her recovery. Initially they implied a willingness to work with us. She made a $2K+ deposit on the project, but nothing except the initial visit for a quote had taken place. Unfortunately, she did not recover and she was transferred to a nursing facility for hospice care where she passed away a few weeks later. Numerous calls and requests were made to the corporate office for a partial refund since the project could not proceed. Calls were repeatedly ignored despite initial promises to raise the request to a mystery person. No one ever responded after that despite weekly attempts. Hired ayers to do water proofing in our basement.We needed to move 30 years of items away from wall.Took 2 weeks to clean the area.Crew was supposed to show 2 days later.They came 1 MONTH later.We were not pleased.Crew got the job almost done except for spraying foam to rodent proof area.A guy named Sheldon said he would come back the next day which would be monday.Never showed up.We called and he said sorry but for sure he would be there Tuesday,AGAIN never showed up on Tuesday or Wedsnday.What a way to run a business.The job was VERY VERY expensive and there has been NO followthrough.Its now Thursday and NO SHELDON. We had a couple of contractors come out to inspect our basement and give us quotes on waterproofing. The first company that came out was very disappointing. The salesman clearly did not know how and why our basement was wet and was telling us things that I know were not accurate. We then had Ayers come out and I was very impressed. Josh was extremely professional and very knowledgeable. He explained the problem and the options we had to solve the issue. He was not pushy and DID NOT try to sell us things we didn't need. We chose Ayers to do our project because the experience was SO much better. They were really helpful in making the project fit our budget and giving us cost breakdowns based on what we decided to do. Once they came to do the work the crew was very courteous and pleasant. They kept us informed while they were doing the work and were very careful to protect our house while they were there. We have never left a bad review before - usually prefer to remain quiet but stay away! We were quoted one process and then when they came to do the work we were told that won't work and was presented other option. We accepted but still the floor was off. Return visit, floor's still an issue. Months later we finally got another person to come out to do another check, found the floors were even worse - probably because west inner wall of the crawl space was partially collapsed - something they never told us when they did the work or we would have had that fixed but that's not something they do so guess that's why they didn't tell us? Tech called next day to say will have to wait until Monday's meeting to find out what can be done - 10 days, still waiting for a call back. Nearly $21K down the drain with more damage to fix that probably won't have been that bad at first. Seriously disappointed and we will consult a lawyer to see if there is any recourse. Hugh pressure to sign & get on schedule. 5 months later couple of canceled dates after taking time off and hurrying to get things ready. Quoted job incorrectly & it will cost more money and another year wait. They have had thousands of dollars for month & now can't do it. Ask for money back huge deal about amount & getting it back. Then they come back with another quote to get it done. Another bad decision on my husband's part. We were quoted over $11k for the Ayers Basement System and told that is the only way to fix the water coming in to our basement. We opted to start small with a $2,700 sump pump discharge line replacement in an effort to get water away from our foundation with the idea we'd save up to have the reining work done a little down the road. The work they did is messy and has caused more problems than we had before. Now we have water shooting out of our gutter downspout and backing up on our patio and flooding the patio and hot tub slab. We had another company come out for a second opinion and within 15 minutes found a crack in our foundation which was where the water was coming in. This company fixed the problem for $425 the same day and said the sump pump discharge line was NEVER the problem and would have NEVER fixed the problem we had. We have attempted to call the rep the sold us this job, Jerrid, for 48 hours with ZERO communication in return. Which is funny because he was in constant contact leading up to getting our money and suddenly after cashing the check, he seems too busy to return a phone call or text. We called the main line and a customer service rep SEEMED helpful on the phone assuring us he could help and understood our frustrations, but what do you know, there was NO follow up AGAIN. I do not typically leave bad reviews, but I feel this is the only way to maybe get their attention. Please take my advice and look elsewhere! I got a consultation for putting in window wells and making sure drainage around the house was adequate. I had a fantastic experience and learned so much about possible issues! If you want to learn about your basement, Ayers does a great job talking through why they recommend what they do and positives/negatives. I also had a great consultant. She was very knowledgeable, kind, and informative. I never felt pressured to make a decision quickly. She answered all my questions and then some. AND they will reschedule at their convience, not yours. HOME: It's not their home so why should they care. They don't live there, nor do they care that your house is turned upside down because of you preparing your home for them to come in and do the job. To them your home is just a dollar amount. MONEY: You must sign a contract and pay half down before they come in( keep in mind they will cancel 1st appointment that is set up well in advance). AND...if you finance this project, the loan accrues interest from the date 1st payment is disbursed. You MAY get lucky if you fire them as we did and get that money refunded, however you will be stuck paying any interest that accrues on loan for a job not done by this company. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Well where to start on this one..you will be treated with the utmost disrespect along with your home. A $24,000.00 + quote to lift a sagging basement wall back to its original state was promised, Unfortunately they were unable to lift the wall and refused to do anything more to raise it completely. They didn't pull local permits, call for underground utilities marking, or show underground work they did before backfilling. They would though stuff mortar between my cracked brickwork. This review includes two different projects, performed by Ayers Basement Systems. I will start with the Basement project. The Basement project had been scheduled for April 27th to the 29th, 3 business days. The crew did arrive on the 27th of April, and broke up the flooring for the drain tubes. The crew leader had made a decision to remove the 3 bottom steps to my basement. The steps were required to be removed, not on contract. This was the crew leaders choice, only to put concrete under the steps. The steps were never replaced until June 16, 2022. The crew did not return on the third day to clean up my basement, the inspection ports on the drain tubes were not cut flush to my basement floor, the battery for the sump pump was not placed near the sump pump, I the crew leader (Nick) never readded the steps to my basement. I had to contact the salesman Jeff Wetherell on May 01, 2022, with a Complaint regarding the completion of the project. I explained to Jeff that the crew did not return on April 29th to complete the project. I was asked to send pictures through text. I had been told by Jeff that, "he will have a crew out as soon as possible". I then sent another complaint on June 8, 2022. Ayers Basement systems did respond and sent a two man crew to my home on June 16th. They had to clean the concrete over spray off my garage door, cut the inspection ports down to my floor, flush my drain tubes and sump pump (they had left stones and dirt in the drain tubes), clean the Basement for dust and debris, and they tried to reinstall the 3 bottom steps to my basement (they left two board removed). This had been 48 days, in which I had been forced to struggle in my own home. My laundry room is located in the Basement. I had requested to receive a cash settlement for the 48 day delay to finish the project. I requested to receive $30.00 a day for the 48 days and $120.00 to fix the steps after June 16th. I was told NO. Now I will discuss the driveway project. This project had been delayed twice by Ayers Basement systems. So, I had been offered a credit of $300.00 and the three year warranty for my sump pump. The project started on June 24, 2022. The crew finished on June 28th, I signed the revised contract. The contract had to add the credit of $300.00 for delays and a credit of $360.00 for removed concrete by me. On June 28th, I noticed a small lump near the bottom of my front porch. I asked to have the lump fixed, the crew leader (Chase) and the Foreman (Mike) tried to talk me out of the repair. I had requested the lump to be fixed and had been infirmed that a review will be submitted. The cut to split the City sidewalk and my driveway, was not straight. The cut ends up an inch and half into the city sidewalk. I have reached out to Ayers Basement systems to get the repairs started. I then was yelled at by Zack (Productions), I was told that "I am refusing to cover the contract". I reminded him that I do not have the contract. So, I can't add the contract to a loan. I do have a voice recording of the conversations (for training purposes). I now have the contract, but I informed Ayers Basement systems that I will add the contract to a loan when the repairs are completed. No contact from Ayers Basement systems. They need to make a new cut to split my driveway and the City sidewalk (maybe repair the city sidewalk too), find a way to fix the lump at the bottom of my front porch, and clean more concrete over spray off from the of my garage. Again, this project was completed on June 28, 2022. I am a Disabled Veteran with physical and mental disabilities. I struggle with travelling up or down steps, the removal of my basement steps did force me to struggle. The crew had known of my disabilities. I do not understand how Ayers Basement systems would refuse to fix the steps for a Disabled Veteran. Ayers Basement systems failed to honor the contract. I have retained an Attorney and reported the basement issue to the BBB. I am still waiting to hear from the Headquarters, to resolve the cash settlement and repairs. read more

I was quoted 64,000$ for basement fix. Went to 3 other companies and the highest one was 23,000$. These people preach about being there for their customers yet they rob. The lady mentioned recourse so I could possibly pay for the immense project. The job was 10'000$ cheaper than what I bought my house for. Steer clear and check out the Bureau of Bad Business reports in them. They have hundreds of complaints. They hire people who have no clue what their talking about. read more

A salesman gave us a bid of $8352.89 to remove part of a concrete wall in front of our home and add parking. He said it was a 2-day project and scheduled the work for July 8th. We signed the contract and paid the deposit of $2505.87. When the crew showed up on the 9th (not the 8th) they said the salesman underbid the project. They could not (or would not) honor the contract because it was a 4-day job and would cost at least twice as much. They said the job would be easier and cost less if it was in another part of the yard. The foreman called back two days later with a quote of $16,883, more than twice the original contract. This was not acceptable and the foreman said our deposit would be refunded. It is over 3 weeks alter and we still have not received it read more

Lots of leaking!! So far the flooding has ruined a few rolls of vapor barrier. Reached and ruined a bag of self leveling concrete, and had to pull up all my newly installed vinyl floor. Basement is currently flooding. I'm not seeing a way to add pictures. So far I'm down the cost of the system and 100 bucks in my material. They will be here in a couple of weeks to examine the issue though. read more

Came in our house to do our basement..took the basement door off as they proceeded to jackhammer. My whole house was covered in white dust. They left muddy handprints all over the white walls in basement. The stairs going down to basement were destroyed from the workers. They overcharged us almost $1500 had their salesman come back out to measure how much we were overcharged..said we would be reimbursed that was in February we are still waiting for a check. I would advise staying away from this company. Seriously, don't even get their free quote. The price is 3 hours of excruciating forceful selling. To make a long story short, they wanted to completely tear my basement apart and replace the whole system at a price of $27,000. This price didn't include repairing all of the drywall and flooring that they would be destroying in the process. There's honestly too many things to even cover. They wouldn't trench the outside discharge pipe mor than 15 feet from the house. The sales person admitted that he was paid on commission and that was obvious from the way he kept trying to upsell. Ended up going with a reputable contractor who was recommended to me by family and they worked with the existing system and it only cost me $1,200. Can't speak to the work they do as I opted to not do business with them, but I can tell you I know a slimy business when I see one and this one was real bad. read more

We spent 5,000 dollars to have 4 of our basement windows repaired, however, 3 out of the 4 windows repaired have failed. I did a plexiglass repair which stood up for two years no leaks. 3 out of the 4 windows repaired by Ayers is leaking worse then the original windows my plexiglass repair DID NOT leak. But, their "professional" repair cannot even stand less then 20 minutes of rainfall. Please pick a different company or just try to do the repair yourself I mean the "professionals" had a fail rate of 75% no way you can do worse. read more

I urge you to read the BBB complaints against Ayres Basement Systems to learn more about this business. I am a customer who paid thousands of dollars and received a faulty Sani-Dry unit. It took months to get it fixed. It is now having problems again and am told that they cannot come out for at least one month. Let me spell out every single thing that went wrong, then you can decide if you want to take a risk. 1. A worker punched a hole in our family room instead of the foundation. They were supposed to create an access to allow the pipe to exit the basement. Instead of creating a hole in the foundation, they punched a hole in our family room wall. They did fix the cement part of the house. But we had to fill the dry wall ourselves. 2. A worker severed our internet cable in the yard 3. we were supposed to have carbon armors (wall stabilizers) and the clean wall drape placed for one side of the wall. Instead, they did it for only half of the wall 4. In the process of jack hammering the cement, they broke our pipe. And they tried to deny it. The project was done on 6/18/20. But they won't send anyone to re-evaluate their mistakes until 8/4/20. This company hires inexperienced contractors and does not make sure they have proper trainings. But they charge for highly professional quality work. Absolutely do not recommend this company. In fact, all the customers with horrific experiences with them should come together and file a class action law suit. They are a disaster and should not be allowed to destroy more houses read more

Rebecca (sales agent) acknowledged the provided were not those she and I discussed at the time of signing and down payment. She spoke on speaker with me and your worker while the job was being completed and promised an adjustment to the cost. The job originally quoted was for a slotted drain pipe with a surrounding thick sock, and a "forked drain" (I think it was called?). We even discussed how your pipe was patent pending. Ultimately the pipe installed by your workers was a simple PVC pipe and bubble pot. Rebecca acknowledged that she made a mistake and did not pass on the message to the workers. She said she would "make this right." No adjustment to the cost was made after numerous attempts to contact you. read more
