I've been coming here for over 2 years now and have never been disappointed. Vicente is an amazing stylist and has given me the best haircut consistently. You can show him a photo and he can make it happen, no matter how thick or thin your hair might be. He's also amazing when it comes to longer hair, men or women, and different types and texture of hair. All of the products they use on your hair are available for purchase in the lobby and you'll definitely find something you're going to want to keep using. It's super easy to make an appointment, they have an online system where you can do it from your phone! There is sometimes a little bit of a wait, but it's completely worth it and I never mind. I have been a client at Axis Salon Spa for over a year now, and beyond impressed every time I go in for an appointment. I get my hair cut and styled by Vicente. He is always professional, personable, and honest. Every appointment is a real treat. He starts off with a neck and head massage and then on to the service. He is never rushed, and always making sure you are comfortable with the way the appointment is going. They are located downtown, across from the Albuquerque public library. It's taken me quite awhile to post this review as I'm still angry about my service here. I requested a trim and a highlight and asked specifically that they leave my color rooted and not cut my ends blunt. 235$ later I left with the worst cut and color of my life. The service they provided was worth about 40$ and is better suited to a tween than an adult. When I expressed my disappointment, I was made to feel this was somehow my fault and that I should be grateful as this will 'last longer' than the look I was going for. I feel ripped off and disrespected and would discourage anyone from visiting this business, ever. read more

I can't begin to express how thankful I am to have found Vincente and Axis spa! The day before I was scheduled to speak at a dental conference my usual hairdresser completely failed me! My hair was literally orange! There was no time to have him fix it before my flight into New Mexico. I thought that washing it would help, but it only made things worse! I called Axis salon and by a miracle Vincente had a cancellation and was able to see me. It didn't take me long to realize that I was in good hands. He corrected the color and completely revamped my hair style. Not only that, but in the process he was so kind and fun to spend time with. idk, i went in a couple weeks ago. this place will usually give you the complete opposite look you ask for. If you wanna get a CERTAIN haircut/color I'd recommend going somewhere else. The stylist here like doing their own thing, and won't even give you the hair color you ask for. You can show them all the photos you want for inspo, and they will still give you something different. I miss my old hair, i've lost so much work with the animal-print hair they gave me, and i didnt ask for it', it's so unnatural, and it's so hard doing other work with such ugly hair. My confidence has gone down and I just miss my old hair, I regret every day going to this salon and I would do anything to get my old hair back. i hate how horrible i feel about my appearance. The hair colors they always give me are so FUNKY and weird. From paper white hair to animal print hair, I just keep coming back and asking for the same thing, and for years and years, it's been funky weird colors or something I never asked for. I had to end up spending more money to get it fixed because I just can't do work with unnatural animal print hair, I had to also buy hair extensions. I also asked to keep my hair rooted and not to dye up to my root, and they dyed it to my root, so even MORE money wasted cause now I have to go get my roots done again soon. None of this would be happening if they just gave me what I asked for years ago. I'm done going to this place, too many chances given. I'm tired of spending so much money on trying to fix up their mess. If you plan on going blonde I really recommend Armondo's Hair Salon, they will give you a natural blonde look the first time, and they give you exactly what you want. This salon is in the perfect location downtown. I had the best time getting my nails done here. Miranda did a gorgeous job for my holiday nails. I had both sets of nails done in gel & I was finished within the hour. It's a beautiful salon & everyone there is so talented. It's my favorite little downtown gem. The fact that they only have about 7 nail polish colors to choose from should have been an indicator to go elsewhere for a mani/pedi. But seriously, the most neutral color I found was gold, with the rest of the polish colors being crazy glitter and CRACKLE shades. Yes, crackle. Anyway, the actual service was odd, to say the least. The woman who did my nails was very nice, but had little idea how to actually do nails. At one point during my pedicure, she actually ripped out part of my nail - she didn't even look to see if I was in pain, she just proceeded to carry-on with the pedicure. The manicure was also pretty bad. In fact, after the tech "cleaned up my nails" (i.e. almost clipping my skin with each use of the nail clipper), I told her that I didn't want any polish. Honestly, I didn't want to waste my time getting a shoddy paint job on my nails that were so short that they were raw. $53 later, I left with ugly gold toe nails, and little boy finger nails. Extremely upset. I scheduled an appointment for a manicure at 4:00 P.M. I advised in advance I had somewhere to be at 6 PM and was told that would be plenty of time to get my manicure. It took Yesi an hour to take the nail polish off of my nails. I then asked to get a Thanksgiving color like a pretty orange or brown and that I wanted gel but was told that they had gel but couldn't do it because their gel nail polish wasn't good. I was also told they didn't have a color I wanted in regular nail polish but was never asked if I wanted a different nail color. I'm already irritated as it's 5:30 and she is still doing my manicure. Filing my nails and cutting my cuticles. She put a clear coat of polish on my nails that looked blue and told me ok thanks we can go pay in the front now. When I get to the front I'm told it's 38.00 dollars and at this point I'm extremely upset. I paid 38.00 dollars for her to remove my nail polish I had prior and to file my nails and cut my cuticles when their sign says the manicure is 20.00 dollars. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that the manager wasn't there but that they would have him or her call me on Saturday. I never got a call and now it's Monday 2:30 MST. I think this place is terrible for claiming to be a salon and spa when they only have 5 nail polishes. No gel polishes. If I had not been in a rush and went to my normal salon I would have paid the same amount and gotten exactly what I wanted and would have been out in less than an hour. DO NOT GO HERE. I was in town and needed to get a nail polish chip repaired. I was directed here by my hotel. Honestly, probably the worst manicure I've ever had. The young lady was very sweet and friendly, but her skills were sorely lacking and she was very unorganized. Her hands kept shaking while she was putting the polish on and the final finish looked liked something I wouldn've done myself in high school. She should not be doing manicures. I absolutely would not recommend this place for nail services. read more

Will not be going here again by choice. Got hair and makeup. Stylist worked on my hair behind the register which i thought was a little unprofessional. My makeup and hair was ok nothing special just overpriced. One girl of our group had her hair fried by the stylist. Along with makeup got fake eyelashes the lady did not know how to put them on. This was for the whole group and we ended up having to redo our own lashes or just take them off completely. I think they need some refining or additional training on small things. I went here on a suggestion from the receptionist at a near by hotel. My coworker and I were stranded in ABQ for the night and were looking for a little R&R. We were able to both schedule Mani/Pedis. We were both excited when we saw that it was an Aveda salon. Short story? Pedi was decent, Mani was of lesser quality than i give myself The Pedicure took 45 minutes and was really nice, I appreciated the attention to details (cuticle oil, nice scrub, great foot cream, etc) but felt that the "spa" chair was a little week (my coworker agreed) When it came time for color, I was VERY disappointed at the SLIM selection for colors- only a few were OPI, other's claimed to be "spa" brand and all looked very old. While I don't need trendy colors, I do appreciate a selection- nearly all the colors were shimmery (I prefer flat) and mauve-y tones (that my Grandma would LOVE). Despite not being put under a dryer while my Manicure started, I was overall satisfied by the pricey ($45) pedicure and didn't think to much of it. But the "Manicure" left everything to be desired. I was told there was a special, the Manicure was $20 when purchased with the $45 pedi so I said sure. After soaking, cutting, pushing cuticles, filing, buffing, the technician began adding base coat/color/top coat... no hand massage, not even a quick swipe of lotion... which, again, i thought was very weird. The paint job left much to be desired- the (old?) polish was streaky, and she asked if I wanted two coats (of course?!) and then didn't work to clean up any of the sides of my fingers where the paint was on the skin. (It wasn't terrible, but I at least appreciate the effort of cleaning up after your mistakes) after the color, it was even more obvious that my hands/nails/cuticles were dry and under moisturized. After asking about a dryer and being told they didn't have them, I paid and walked out. On the walk back to the hotel i realized that my nails had not been filed smooth and 3 of the fingers had sections of nail hanging off. Totally. unimpressive, and $65 I wont see again (though I will suggest to the hotel NOT to recommend this place!) I'm a Chicago girl and happy to spend $40 on a Mani Pedi... but this is the WORST I've had. read more

If you dare go, go at least and see Vicente, the owner. Otherwise, and in general, stay away. Extremely overpriced for the quality. I have never paid so much for hair in my life and hated it even more. I was shocked. I thought this was supposed to be a nice salon, it's even Aveda branded. It looked like a 5 year old did it - Do NOT let Miranda touch your hair. She can't even curl with a straightener much less do color, even with pictures and conversations about it. It was horrific I tell you, worst ever!!! I can't believe she let me out like that. I can't believe she's licensed. I was so upset about my hair I cried, and thankfully they got me in the next day to fix it. Though it still is not ideal, it at least looks professional and he did correct the initial disaster. I even took pics with me and had conversations about it all yet no one could make my hair even remotely resemble the look, yet I have girlfriends who get similar things done elsewhere and it looks fabulous. It was nothing complicated or drastic! I am still not totally happy but my hair has been through the ringer in the last 24hrs, so I'll give it a break, and they were very nice and did correct it in a timely manner as in the next day. But still. Shouldn't ever have had to in the first place. My poor hair. Worst price and color I've EVER had, and I've had lots done to my hair over the years, even been to lesser salons, well, or so I thought. Oh, and twice I was told to show up a little early to do all the steps for COVID and whatnot, yet they did not show up to my initial appt until almost 9:10am, my appt was at 9, and I waited for more than 15mins outside, yet I was the one told to show up early. I can't say I liked the haircut I got here (only so so) but if you want an incredible PEDICURE to to Goly (can't vouch for anyone else.) It's pricey (about $45 +tip), but she is really gentle and extremely thorough. My pedi was perfect, my calloused feet were soft as a baby's behind, and the best part- the pedicure lasted for a month- much longer than the less expensive pedis I have had. read more

I went to see Axis Salon this weekend. I was looking for something completely different than I've done before. The staff was super nice. Kendra worked on my hair. She knew exactly what I wanted and helped me decide what would look best for me. The staff and Kendra made me feel so at home and welcome there. She did an AWESOME job!! Stay away! I am still trying ti fix the damaged they done. Like the previous post stated just cause it reads "Aveda" doesn't mean it's Aveda. Expensive, damaged hair and bad service! Consider this your warning stay away, you're better off going to a $5 haircut salon. read more
