Do not trust Rick LaRosa with your time, money, or project. He should not be in business. We paid him to prepare complete architectural plans (including MEP) for our small business in Shoreline, WA. He promised permit-ready documents in 2-4 weeks, but after a month of silence and another payment, he delivered incomplete, inaccurate, and unusable plans. When we asked him to fix the issues or refund us, he refused. We took him to court, and the Seattle King County court ruled in our favor--he was found in breach of contract and now owes us the judgement plus court and collection costs. This is not a misunderstanding. This was a scam, backed by a legal judgment. Contact the Oregon Board of Architects for more information on prior complaints against this business as there have been several. Additionally, the architect has been repeatedly turning up at our business take photos and posting negative reviews online for our business under his fake email account to try and intimidate us into avoiding collecting on his debts. Protect yourself and avoid being scammed by this fraudster. Multiple potential clients have reached out to us for a reference saying Rick LaRosa claimed he designed Nixi City which is absolutely laughable. The only thing he contributed to our project was wasted time and a mess we had to pay another architect and engineering firm to completely start over on. They did the real work and got us our permit. Rick had nothing to do with our finished plans or business except scamming us. The audacity to take credit is just more proof of his dishonesty. Rick LaRosa is no longer licensed to practice architecture. His Oregon license #ARI-6670 was revoked due to malpractice and criminal negligence, and his Washington state license #12029 is also revoked. DO NOT work with this man. The negative reviews are 100% accurate. Rick aggressively calls and texts until you pay him, then disappears. I paid thousands and received absolutely nothing. No updates, no deliverables -- just endless excuses and silence. He even had the audacity to ask for more money despite not producing a single piece of usable work. After months of lies, false promises, and a set of garbage plans that were completely unusable we hired another firm and got our permit. Rick and his team helped our company design a 5 story mixed-use building on a relatively small site, and we had a great experience working with them. They were adaptive when last minute changes needed to be made, they found creative ways to maximize parking and building footprint on the site, and they maintained communication throughout the design process.
