Went here for my brother's birthday and it was quite the experience! Make sure to make a reservation and wear closed toed shoes. Once you sign the waiver- a staff member gives a safety talk and watches you throw your first few times and gives you pointers. We had Dylan and he was excellent. His safety talk was easy to understand and his advice was really helpful. It took us a few rounds to get the hang of it but you have 1.5 hours for your reservation- so plenty of time! read more

Never in my wildest dreams would I think I'd be at a bar throwing axes... OK, Milwaukee.... It is kind of cool! Drinking and throwing axes at a wooden target -- what a concept! I do need lots of practice though lol, but it was fun! They give you a short tutorial in the beginning and then they let you go off on your own. The funniest thing is the guy who was instructing us said make sure you wait until the axe has stopped and fully dropped because it can ricochet off the walls. Then he said "Don't worry there have been no injuries" and I asked "How long have you guys been open for?" to which he replied "A few months".... greaaaaat that makes me feel real safe. HAHA Their cocktails were meh. My aunt got an old fashion and it did not taste like a classic old fashion, something was missing, but they swore it tasted just like one :shrug:... I'd recommend sticking to beer here. read more

Went here with a group of people and had 2 lanes. Instructions were great. They knew exactly what they were doing and how to explain to beginners. I only had a few issues. When you get a bullseye you get to ring a bell! And trust me, you definitely want to on your first try. Unfortunately the bell was broke...which was a bummer. Drinks seemed overpriced...unless you drink PBR! Then you get 24 oz. for $5...crazy deal. They goofed up splitting our pricing. My sister booked everything online, when it came to paying I received the bill for my husband and I and we were shocked at the cost. We didn't want to complain or come off as cheap so we just paid the bill. After the fact I asked my sister what it came to for her, it was much pricier than I was expecting. She said she found out they over charged my husband and I and under charged some of our friends. Making it a loss for us :( Other than that, I'd definitely recommend trying it out! read more

Absolutely pure joy! AXEMKE is a blast and I couldn't think of a person who wouldn't have fun throwing axes. I went with a group of people that I am only acquainted with and it is the perfect activity to get to know someone. AXEMKE is a great place to break the ice or socialize with people you don't know. No one takes Axe throwing seriously (unlike intramural sports for example) so I never felt intimidated or insecure about my throwing skills because I feel as if ax throwing isn't something to be super competitive at but just for fun. What I love about AXEMKE, in particular, is the vibe inside. It's industrialized and hip. It has a full-service bar inside. (You can't be drunk before attending but you are allowed to drink during your time there!) I definitely think this activity is the best activity to do with a new group of people or for something your friends to do. It's a super sociable place with music and they even have Mario cart on a T.V. you can play if you want! I do have two negatives about AXEMKE though. At the end of each lane where you throw an ax, you get a bar table but it's shared with the lane next to you and if your large group is next to another large group there is hardly any room for all of you too fit. It can just feel very cramped and crowded by where you throw the axes. Also, they don't accept outside food. I'm wondering if it is because of how small of a table you get by your lane but when I was there, they were only selling Poptarts as food which I thought was a little strange. I think this is one of the coolest new trends to try out and I did have a blast when there! Highly, highly recommend! read more

Great space with awesome feel and look. They were super concerned about ax and COVID safety but also serving up some nice cocktails. We booked last minute and were glad they could get us in on the holiday weekend. WEAR REAL SHOES. We had sandals/flip flops and while they have these things to protect your toes, they were crazy uncomfortable. No biggie just wear real shoes. read more

Went here for the first time, was initially intimidated, but very quickly became comfortable in the environment. Workers were very nice and helpful, especially Kevin and Steve!! These two were exceptional and helped us with everything including drinks, giving us advice on throwing, and just conversing with us. A fine new place for friends to gather, hot off the success of Splash Studios and Nine Below, comes their newest venture, an axe throwing range. I almost didn't believe it at first, but it is true, and now I know Chicago has some as well. You walk in, sign a waiver, grab a drink at the bar (nice craft beer list, plus an 11% ABV malt liquor called Axe Head, fitting choice XD) and then you get an orientation on the process. I forget our axe master's name but he was very friendly and informative and told our group everything we needed to know to have a fun, yet safe time. You can play a game with official scoring, or just toss for fun. Thankfully the blades aren't super sharp, but still exercise as much caution as you can and follow all their rules. We had a blast, I loved the vibe there, and would go back for sure. Price is $25 for an open session, plus they add in a few dollars for the orientation session, which I suppose functions as a (deserved) tip for your instructor. read more

Went last night with work family. Made the reservation early (good idea) we had 6pm party-place was packed. Lane was a little delayed when we arrived but time was adjusted accordingly. Drinks are a little pricey and just ok tasting. Don't bring anything extra as there is very small space to wait for your turn. Travis was our guy who showed us how to throw-very friendly. Ring the bell on all corners when hitting bullseye. Have fun, great concept for a new activity if looking for something new. Definitely would go back. Worth the money per person. read more

Our group of friends went their location on the east side and the first Impression is spray paint. The entire room smelled like spray paint because they spray paint inside!?! And while we were there one of our friends who was 6 months pregnant asked for a coffee and they didn't have any. So she went to a coffee shop near by and brought it in. At first I'm being skeptical about the combination of alcohol and axes. But, all people are needed to sign a waiver which of course a MUST NEED to Sign. So don't forget that when you go there you wear closed shoes. If ever you're wearing a sandals or slippers , they have a crocs foot wear you can borrow. It's awesome to play actually. You think you're an expert ? Try it out yourself. My fiancé said "you seems to be in a good mood?" And his army buddy said "thanks for having me here , I enjoyed it". The place is a stress reliever and fun place to go into with friends. They have awesome staffs who will tell you the basics and the rules. Simply the Do's and don't s . In every lane they have medical kit so if you got cut use that kit. It's there for a reason so don't be crying baby. There's cameras too so every one is being watched. If you really got injured or just dumb stupid to do things so beware. Bring more people in there folks. The more the merrier. Just be careful with yourself holding axe or you forgot people are waking behind so don't just swing it. It'll be at your own risk kind of play so be an adult. Don't come there if you'll cause trouble to others. It's a place for fun and drinks and get together. So just be responsible adults. read more
