Closed. Out of business. Don't go. The doors are locked for good. It is a wasted drive.

"Is there nothing I can say, nothing I can do To change your…read moremind? I'm so in love with you I'll be your saviour, steadfast and true I'll come to your emotional rescue" (Jagger and Richards) A professional organization I belong to was scheduled to hold an axe throwing party/charity fundraiser at Pine & Iron in Hartford last night. But two and a half days ago, they contacted us to cancel because they had closed their doors for good. We didn't want to cancel the event, so what were we to do? Well, Montana Nights came to our rescue and 20 of us had a blast. Our Guardian Angel was manager Carolyn, who worked in a slot for our group, arranged an instructor, pizza and sandwiches from Square Peg, and drink tickets from their bar (beer and axes, what could go wrong?). Anyway, we had a freaking blast at Montana Nights. Our instructor Kyle was great. He gave us a safety talk, demonstrated one hand and two hand throwing techniques, and broke us into two teams for some axe flinging fun. We threw at a conventional bulls eye target, an unconventional bulls eye target where the center moved around, and Tic Tac Toe and Connect Four variations. I threw ten axes in warm ups, and then 20 axes in two ten-frame 4-person team contests. I stuck one out of ten in the warm ups, just one in Game #1, but improved significantly by sticking 4 in the second game. I even had a center Bulls Eye!! By the way, the food from Square Peg was great - lots of different pizzas, grinders cut into fours, and a big salad. Thank you Carolyn and Kyle for saving our event. It was a charity collection event where our members donated new clothing, toys, and household supplies for Madonna House in Norwich, CT. I would love to see Yelp incorporate more of some sort of charity collections at our events. Sort of a "Pay It Forward" philosophy. Everyone can afford to bring a few cans of soup or tuna to donate to a group that needs them.

The wings are very well done and sauce was a hit with the kids to dip carrots in. Pizza was charred and thin. A true representation of New Haven/brick oven style. I will be back

Stopped by here a few weeks ago or so with some coworkers. I honestly had no idea it was there,…read morebut the location is nice, and it's a great new option for something to do in the area. Signing Up: I was admittedly annoyed in the beginning, as the paying/sign up process seemed a bit annoying at first, but it wasn't terrible. I was still limping along a real P.O.S. smart phone at the time, so the premise of trying to use it and its limited battery life was irritating, but they had a pretty easy workaround. Keep that in mind if you'd like to avoid using your phone. Also note that they have a cheaper option for those looking to just observe and not actually throw. Throwing: The throwing areas are all nicely sized with seating areas that offer plenty of space without too much overlap with other people in adjacent throwing areas. The place is actually much bigger than it initially seems due to the layout. The trainer who initially explains all the rules was very helpful with demonstrating different throwing styles and scoring options, was personable as well, and periodically checked in to see if we had any questions. Bar: The bar is well-appointed with a rather long list of canned beers. No glasses, however, and the prices will add up quickly on you if you have a bunch. I imagine it is NOT BYOB anymore, given that there's a bar, so ignore that if you see it in other comments. Also- they have menus available for restaurants which will deliver, and I believe some of them may even offer a discount for delivery to Stumpy's, so ask Stumpy's which one(s).

No, I wasn't tripping on Psilocybin mushrooms, but I was playing baseball on one of the sports simulators at the Clubhouse on Main. You see, when you play their baseball game you can choose your opposing team (I couldn't resist competing against Team Zombie), choose your stadium, and choose a few other variables. Last night, a professional organization I belong to hosted a game night charity fundraiser here, and we had a blast. We played simulated baseball, golf, and hockey, threw axes and darts, had some great food, and overall had a sensational time. Clubhouse catered our food with platters of wings, quesadillas, salads, nachos and sliders. The food was plentiful and quite good. The space is huge and also has pool tables, video games, karaoke, Pop-A-Shot basketball games, a full bar and quite a few big flat screen TVs on the wall. I chatted with a couple who watched the Super Bowl here and told me the place was mobbed. Definitely a cool place to hang out or host a party. Oh, and best of all, I ran into fellow Elite Yelper Jen H while I was here! PRO TIP The bar isn't cheap, a Margarita I bought for a friend cost $14. They do have a Happy Hour where things are mightily discounted.

They have a full bar, game simulators where you can play multiple sports, axe throwing, and even that viral boxing machine where you punch the bag as hard as you can (yes, it's as fun as it looks ). It's the perfect mix of competitive and social. Now let's talk about the appetizers because they did NOT disappoint. The wings were flavorful (we had BBQ garlic parmesan, and buffalo), the quesadillas were really good, and the loaded nachos were absolutely amazing. And lastly, the pretzels definitely gave Aunty Anne's a run for her money. I'll definitely be back!
