For those that are indecisive, there are a few predetermined combinations to choose from. In addition to the flavored syrups, you can add ice cream to your snowball. Finally, there is a gum ball that is thrown on top (although after being in the ice, it is pretty hard). The primary location is a trailer that is set up in the A-1 Bail Bonds parking lot off of US 31, but you can often find find Lickity Slick at various local events. When I got…read morehome this evening and started to do a little bit of fact-finding for this review, I realized I'd experienced it early in its history in Shipshewana, Indiana. Kukui's was founded in 2009 in Shipshewana. The family behind it moved to the Greenwood area in 2018 - Kukui's Hawaiian Shaved Ice came along and became an "on the road" business often found in The Centre at Smith Valley. Fortunately, they do also leave Greenwood as happened with their appearance at downtown Indy's Statehouse Market. Kukui's offers 32+ flavors with six additional sugar-free flavors. They have add-ons including ice cream, sweet cream, Haupia cream, adzuki beans, Ube ice cream and more. While it's a mighty strong claim to think about "best shaved ice," I think Kukui's may very well be able to make that claim. It's certainly better than anything else I've had in Central Indiana. Kukui's has four different sizes. This shaved ice is gluten-free, dairy free, and has no high fructose corn syrup. The people here were super friendly. It was a sunny day in Indy with temps in the 70s and low 80s. It was perfect shaved ice weather. This was perfect shaved ice. I can't think of a thing I'd change about the experience.
