Man, was I glad to see the Caveman Truck parked beside the Speakeasy after a few beer samples at…read morethe Indiana Tasting Society event! The menu offered a few different foods with multiple choices on sizes (by the ounce), and the lovely hostess taking our order was delightful. We had a really hard time deciding what to get as everything looked reeeeeeally good, but we opted to split the following: *Bacon Hash -- 4 oz for $4 -- well worth it! *Barnyard chili -- 8 oz for $7 -- pricy yet tasty *Jicama Tacos (one chicken guac and one chorizo aioli) -- 2 for $7 -- messy but pretty good *Fudge bites for dessert -- $3 for one -- dark chocolate, peanut butter, banana, sea salt, and applesauce mixed and formed in to a hockey-puck type solid mass. It was not really sweet like I expected, and kind of hard to eat. Probably wouldn't get it again. Next time I will totally get the Brussels Sprouts for myself when not sharing with the hubs :) I would say overall this was a 3 1/2 star experience for me as it was over $20 for 'snacks' and we were still hungry afterwards, but a star bump for using real, quality ingredients.

Still, I'll support a paleo food truck when the truck has "bacon (greater than) gluten" painted on the side of it. That's one way to get my attention for sure! On our visit my boyfriend and I shared two tacos--one chicken, one chorizo--fried plantains, and the brussel sprouts. I have so many nice things to say about all three. Instead of corn or flour, Caveman Truck uses fresh jicama as a tortilla to hold its protein + slaw + guac/aioli. It's the perfect starchy alternative to cut through the good greasiness of the chorizo. The plantains are not only fried in coconut oil beautifully, but also they are caked with a curry-based seasoning, providing you with a sweet plantain that also has some savory elements to it. The brussel sprouts--my favorite of the three--are fried in coconut oil and topped with an overload of crumbled bacon and a spritz of lime. It's a little bit of fatty, a little bit of zesty and a whole lot of flavor. All three dishes knocked it out of the park. From here on out, I'll be keeping an eye out for the Caveman Truck on the streets of Indy, because I still need to try the highly-praised barnyard chili and bacon hash. If this is how our ancestors ate, then I can't wait to eat the primal way again!

I'd see it driving around and I was…read moreeven at a corporate event with their truck, but I didn't get a chance for a break to try it. I saw them pop up on DoorDash recently and apparently they opened a storefront in June 2025 in Beech Grove. Pronto Taco is just that...pronto. I ordered through DoorDash and still got my order quickly. Everything was packaged nicely and they even put a handwritten note in the bag. I went with the combo so I could try a variety of things. My mom had the asada tacos. My mom loved the steak but not the tortillas. My favorite part was the slightly griddled tortillas. Welcome to a day in our house. The menu is very to the point. A few tacos. Chips and salsa. Bottled Mexican sodas. I'm not mad at it. Everything was super fresh. The tacos are around $5 each but they are STUFFED with meat. The salsa roja is hot (hot, hot, hot according to their website), but delicious. Next time I'll try the veggie taco since that's probably more my speed. In addition to being open for lunch 11-2 and dinner 5-8, you can book the food truck or order catering for events.

Pronto looks pretty simple. I've not been to their storefront - Beech Grove is pretty hit-and-miss in terms of accessibility. However, after passing by them a couple times at Statehouse I finally gave them a try. Pronto is basic a handful of taco varieties, chips/salsa, bottled Mexican soft drinks, a couple sauce options (mild and roja), and also a breakfast taco. I know that Pronto has a storefront. I know that they cater. I also know that they cover statewide. I'm primarily limited to chicken these days and the taco pollo is a winner for me. I enjoyed the chips and salsa. I got the mild sauce (because I'm a wuss). However, a friend of mine got the rojo and it wasn't really as hot as I expected (though particularly sensitive folks probably want to stick with mild). Employees have been friendly both times I've been here. Prices are fair. Food is good. I've become a little more into tacos these days and I'm definitely a fan of these. Overall, I'm quite pleased and am hoping they show up again when the next Statehouse Market season comes around.

Even with the rush, I was able to snag a seat quite quickly. I was so impressed by how efficiently the staff cleared and prepared my table; it's those little touches of attentiveness that really make a difference. I decided to keep things classic and ordered the Asada Tacos. The service was remarkably swift my order arrived in under ten minutes, which is exactly the kind of efficiency I adore. While the initial presentation was a bit more understated than I anticipated, the flavor was a total 8/10 triumph! The staff was also incredibly accommodating when it came to my preferences; they brought over a lovely selection of chips and sauces, but were perfectly gracious when I mentioned I prefer to avoid the heat. These are truly some of the best tacos I've had the pleasure of trying lately. I will most certainly be a regular here!

I don't know how else to explain it. The queso is delicious. They have a salsa bar, and I'm not joking when I say there are a lot of delicious homemade salsas on the salsa bar. You have to buy a basket of chips, but it's very inexpensive and so worth it for the salsa bar! Lastly, the Al pastor is the bomb. The inside is really nice, the owners are so gracious and remember us when we come back each time. Don't sleep on this place--it's perfect for a weekday dinner or a weekend date night!
