I finally got a chance to try Sno Zone! Whenever I think to get shaved ice, it's always closed. The stars aligned today and my children wanted shaved ice on a day it was open. FYI: It's only open for a few warm-weather months because it's a little wooden one-person stand in a parking lot. They typically open at noon. They have almost 50 flavors to choose from, including flavors that I have no idea what they are, like "Popeye," "Rock & Roll" and "Suicide." But they also have the greatest hits like wild cherry, watermelon, cotton candy and blue raspberry. You can choose up to three flavors for the same price of $3.50. There's only one size of sno cone, and it's pretty big. You can also get ice cream at the bottom of your shaved ice (Hawaiian style) or cream on the top (New Orleans style) at no extra charge. They only take cash, so bring yer change! Like I said, this is a little stand, so there is no seating, but it's located in the heart of Broad Ripple, so you can get your shaved ice and walk around or whatever. read more

They have so many flavors and offer fast service for a snow cone place. They use plastic cups to prevent messes and are always friendly. The parking is an additional perk because it's hard to come by in broad ripple. The only negatives to this place are not being able to tell hours and the bees. Although I don't know a solution for the bees, there should be a better way to know whether or not the business has closed early for the day without having to go all the way through broad ripple to be let down. This was one of my favorite shave ice places in Indy but am now not sure I am going to come back. We all came as a group and only half of us were served. It was 9:30. Place was supposed to be open until 11. Half of us got our shave ice and the other half arrived and attempted to order and was informed that they were closing early, no sign saying this was happening and we even said we were all together. Tonight I got the Tiger's Blood (strawberry and coconut) with ice cream in the bottom for an added treat free of charge! The ice to flavor ratio was perfect and the ice was perfectly shaved. A great addition to the experience was the protection cup surrounding the ice so that your hands didn't get dyed the color of your treat.
