Fritts Roofing may do a great job with composite shingle roofs and commercial roofs, but from my…read morepersonal experience, residential Spanish tile roofs are not Fritts' forte! I'm going to try to keep this as objective as possible... The ordeal with Fritt's Roofing began when the owner, Joe, told us a permit for our roofing project wasn't needed while the City of Oxnard said one was needed. It was one bad thing after another from then until the end. The entire project was handled very unprofessionally, and I feel as though we and our home were disrespected: (1) Fritts Roofing caused a lot of stucco damage to the house and a lot of damage to a small tower that is a key focal point of the home. It cost us close to $2000 to have the damage repaired. Fritts attempted to camouflage some of the damage by slapping a coat of paint over it. (2) Roofing tiles were misaligned and had to be redone (thankfully, we caught it and brought it to Joe's attention before the entire roof had been completed). Tiles were laid just barely touching at the vertical edges rather than overlapping. This would have caused drainage issues and, eventually, major water damage to our roof. (3) Workers often stomped around on a portions of the roof that were nowhere near the job they were doing. As even non-professionals know, this is not good for a roof. (4) Workers repeatedly trampled through flower beds, smashing plants in the process, rather than using walkways that surround all of the planted areas. (5) Tools, equipment, and supplies were placed in planted areas (causing more damage to the garden) rather than on the concrete driveway just inches away. The list goes on! If I had to choose between another experience with Fritts Roofing and a leaky roof, I'd choose the leaky roof. There's a good chance the owner will reply to this and lamblast me for my honest opinions. Just keep in mind that I have nothing to gain by posting this. In the words of Amy Grant: "You've got to know who to, who not to listen to. You know they're gonna hit you from all sides; better make up your mind who to, who not to listen to."

I found out later that he also didn't return calls or show up to my brother's house. 2) His original fix didn't work - still leaking. He warned me it might not. After a more expensive fix, I asked for pics. No pics. Next rain - it continued to leak in the same place. When I called again (within warranty period) he hung up on me. I forwarded him the warranty info that his wife had sent. He did come over with some workers to take a look and fix the issue. This last winter's rain (lots of it) it did not leak so I give him that. 3) First time he came by I asked him if I would be better off replacing and he said no, I had several years left. After the second time leaking (within the year), and me calling, he said my roof was rotted out. What? To be fair, I did not pay him at first due to no pics. I just wanted to see what he was charging me the extra money for. I told him prior to working on the roof I wanted the pics and texted him the next day to see if he had taken pics of the work. Nothing. So I am leak free. His prices are good. It's getting to be summer now so maybe you would have better luck with him now = less busy. His warranty is one year so as it doesn't rain that often (except this last winter) douse your house with water where the leak is just to verify the work was done correctly.

After multiple emails, phone calls and voicemails over the course of several weeks, I have not received even a courtesy call back to see what the work is or how they can help on a project they have complete familiarity with and would be helpful on. I'm not sure if they had a falling out with the previous owners over the project, but I find their lack of communication to be incredibly unprofessional and completely lacking of basic common courtesy in business and therefore deserving of this review.

Mike Seay took my initial design concepts and worked with me to get to a final product of my dreams. They were easy to get a hold of and were great communicators throughout the entire process. They made sure to address challenges and solutions along the way, and consult with me for any decisions that needed made (whether it be colors, materials, costs, layouts, etc.) The attention to detail and quality of their work is truly amazing. The billing process is detailed by line item so it's easy to understand. If changes are needed/wanted during the process it is super clear as to the cost difference. We are really happy with the outcome and have recommended them to both family and friends.

We were really patient and understanding because we get it he runs a business and we changed a few things here and there but it took 8-9 weeks to redo our very small bathroom. I can't remember the amount of times Jesse would say they would be here tomorrow and they wouldn't show up for a day even two with zero communication. We would have to reach out and ask when they're coming. Despite the communication and time it took to finish this project because again, they would skip days we paid them 10k(~70% of the total) before they finished. Why? They were asking for payment even though it wasn't complete. For some reason I felt bad it was taking so long and I know he had to pay his guys, but that's not really a me problem. I was 9 months pregnant and about to give birth we kept telling them we really need them to finish up(please actually be here to finish and/or bring more than 1 guy). They were unable to finish and I was home with a newborn and toddler while they finished it up. As soon as they finished they wanted to do the walk through asap of course to get the final payment. They didn't have the time to wait for my husband to do it- again I had just gave birth. So, I had to do the walkthrough without my husband and paid him. After my haze though I realized how terrible of a job they did with the tile; leaving chips, grout unevenness and less than 2 years later grout is falling out of in some places. For some reason they used 2 pieces on the door frame despite us having lots of framing material laying around. When I reached out a few months later to request he fix the severe grout issue he sent 2 highschool looking kids with a tiny $5 looking tool from home depot they just bought and within a couple hours they were gone. It looks worse than before. He never followed up after that. They started August 7th and the walkthrough was Oct 4th. We still need to get it fixed by someone else.

From day one, he went above and beyond in ways that honestly aren't even discussed anymore in this industry. Communication was clear, expectations were met or exceeded, and every detail was handled with care. When issues came up, he didn't deflect or disappear, he owned them and fixed them the right way. That alone sets him apart. The end result completely blew us away. The quality of the work, the attention to detail, and the pride he clearly takes in what he does showed in every part of the project. We were genuinely thrilled with how everything turned out. What really says it all is that at the end of the project, we were standing there having a drink together, not stressed, not relieved it was over, but actually happy.
