My family and I got the matcha, caramel, and coffee flavor. I was very impressed by the quality of the dessert and would recommend going here. It's aesthetically pleasing inside as well but there's a lack of AC since it's fully open doors. Parking is street metered or residential. There are a couple of seating areas as well. Service is great and they offer free samples
Extremely underrated ice cream spot, I had the vanilla and absolutely loved it. It was not too sweet and was the perfect mix of vanilla / coconut flavors. I also really enjoyed the gula jawa shavings they put on top. Service was awesome and let us sample as many flavors as we wanted before ordering (they have so many unique ones that use Indonesian flavors), and the orange interior/exterior of the shop was such a cool vibe.
Awan has been the best gelato i've ever had and somehow it's vegan?! Not only is this place so freaking cool, the gelato is absolutely unmatched. I got the seasonal white peach and birthday cake flavor and it was unreal! The texture is like custard, it's super thick and doesn't melt easily. The flavors are all so unreal, you can't go wrong. This is an absolute must in LA!
There's a lot of really cool flavors, but unfortunately when I went a lot of the flavors were out . The employee did help us try all of the remaining flavors, which were all good and was super nice

We sat outside and enjoyed it especially because it was beautiful outside. There is no indoor seating so you either sit outside or walk around. I wish I could go back just to try that mango ice cream again
Honestly my favorite place to come by and get a late night or after dinner sweet treat. I do prefer this location over the weho one due to parking restrictions. I personally love their dayglow coffee flavor and I have brought multiple friends to visit and they have all really enjoyed this place. Service is amazing as always with free samples.
This was one of the coolest architectural ice cream places I've been to. The flavors are standard but in a different way, there's a twist to it. This is an Indonesian flavor inspired place which for me is a first of its kind. The worker was super friendly and allowed us to try samples of the ice cream. It was rich and creamy and not overly sweet. You can taste the subtle flavors of the ingredients. There were a few places to sit but I imagine when it's busy you probably won't get a seat. The only downside is that it's a bit on the expensive end. Portion is good, vibes good, ice cream good. Also a nice place to take pictures!
Great service for gelato testing. This coconut based Indonesian inspired gelato with pure palm sugar topping grating is impressive. Awan used premium ingredients that come with Hollywood price tag. Unique & chic shop with 24/7 self vending gelato machine. Just have to deduct one star because of no parking & no free water for high prices gelato. I do love how smooth, soft & well blended gelato without milk. Recommended Pandan pineapple & butterfly pea with yuzu flavor.
place is quite cozy and unique ~ simple but comfy. my destination is san diego and seriously drove to los angeles only to grab this dessert. very interesting when reading the flavors but came here and not get what i was looking for: gula jawa salted caramel and golden sesame & kluwek chocolate stracciatella. came again the next day and still not available ~ aaarggghhhh!!! i feel disappointed, i really want those two flavors... finally order pineapple pandan, blue yuzu lemonade, gaviota strawberry, and balinese vanilla beans. will say all good and the flavours are quite strong and good. for the balinese vanilla beans, they put grated gula jawa and so good. will you open in bay area??? i really eager to get the kluwek and gula jawa though...

Plant based ice cream spot located in the Larchmont area. I've been to the location in West Hollywood, but this was my first visit to Larchmont. Similar menu with tasty flavor. They're all coconut based I think so you'll have a hint of coconut flavor (at least with the flavors I had). But this is seriously delicious ice cream that taste, it's all plant based, so it's pretty darn amazing if you are looking for a dairy free dessert option. Service here is very friendly and helpful as well. The vibe here is chill and it feels like you're going into a cavern to order and enjoy your treat. I can't remember what I exactly ordered but one of the flavors I got was strawberry and it was amazing
Ethan at this location was the best - got me samples of just about everything to try!! I ended up getting the vanilla, which was amazing. All the flavors I tried were delicious though. This location is like being in a cave, very fun. Overall, I really like when people go out of their way to make sure you have a positive experience, and this was exactly that!

The flavors here are definitely super unique here so try it before buying! You can tell all the ice cream is made from great quality ingredients and not too sweet. No seating there specifically but right next to there's an opened area where you can eat your ice cream or grab coffee! read more
Okay I'm gonna need everyone STOP with the Gelato and IceCream for a second and go to AWAN. This is my new cold obsession and I'm upset that I by passed them in WeHo a very long time ago. The new Melrose location is STUNNING! Like i'm ordering in a StarWars set in Disneyland, it's like walking into a Star Wars Cave. I found my place for indulging in some guilt free ice cream! I found the entrance and the seating style quite cool. I was also happy to see limited options to choose from and could taste tested each of them. I feel quite overwhelmed when there are 50 options to choose from. The menu here is limited offering not so regular flavours. We had the one with mandarins first. Tasted very fruity and less sugary. The ice creams here are vegan and coconut based. After finishing it off within a few minutes, we next ordered chocolate Oreo. I'm not an Oreo fan but I am for sure buying this flavour often here now ... Again less sugary, very light on Oreo taste and definitely guilt free. Small cup $6 , regular $9 read more

Awan is one of my favorite ice cream places. Parking is relatively easy, just find street parking in front of the store or on the side streets. There is some seating inside on the side but not big enough for a large party. Awan has seasonal flavors. They always surprise me with their new unique flavors. They are able to create the flavors perfectly. I tried their Sobacha and Apple Oat Crumble and it was amazing. Very delicious and refreshing. I loved it a lot. Very smooth and creamy. read more

I love Awan's special vegan ice cream. Especially their original one is my favorite. It has some coconut flavor and vanila. And my husband also really liked his ice cream. Their space is not that big though so cute and cave vibe interior. I really like this theme. The staff is so patient and kind. I love AWAN! read more
I love a dedicated vegan ice cream shop, and the staff at Awan are very nice, so I will forgive the somewhat pretentious atmosphere (at least, for an ice cream shop.) The flavours here are very very good. Lots of fresh fruit involved and interesting combinations. And there's coffee next door in case you get the craving! read more

such a quaint little place for indonesian ice cream!! its a literal hole in the wall and has really cool orange geologic vibes to it. it was my first time having indonesian ice cream too. i like coconut milk so i dig that its the base for most of the flavors :) staff is nice and friendly! let me try lots of samples. i tried the caramel, coffee, vanilla, and golden sesame. i was leaning towards the coffee one but i opted for golden sesame since it was a limited time flavor! golden sesame was nutty and had chunks of dark chocolate mixed in like stracciatella! my friend got strawberry and pineapple pandan! both were good but strawberry stood out to me. its the best choice for a tart flavor!! if i was in the mood for fruity, i would most definitely get that one. store only has 4 tables along a bench by the wall. it wasnt too busy when we went so we were able to enjoy inside. they also have a vending machine for pints if you want to buy them read more

For a vegan ice cream spot, Awan is actually really solid. The texture is creamy and the flavors are unique without tasting overly "plant-based." Even if you're not vegan, it's still a great place to stop if you're craving something sweet. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area. read more
I usually don't like ice cream, but Awan has completely elevated the game and taste!!! Their ice cream is a work of art the taste and consistency. It's so rich and creamy without being overly sweet, and the flavors are incredibly unique and delicious. They always switch out flavors by season and everything is made with coconut!! So my lactose intolerance ass isn't sitting in the toilet tonight!! I've learned that it's always worth the wait, no matter how long the line is. I'm willing to stand in line every single time because I know I'm about to have the best ice cream! My go to is the yuzu, vanilla, chocolate, and honestly the split scoop is the way to go$$$$$ Awan never misses. read more
Awan in Larchmont is giving fancy cave in the best way. You order through a little window, sit if you are lucky, and eat ice cream surrounded by terracotta arches like a dessert goblin with taste. The hojicha and Balinese vanilla were rich and cozy, and the cantaloupe melon was bright and refreshing, it literally felt like biting into melon. Hard to believe it is vegan, slightly tragic some flavors were out of stock, still very worth it. read more

On top of that, the space has a super cute, cave-like ambience, which takes the experience to another level. Whether you are lactose-intolerant or not, this spot is a must-try. Setting: Flintstones cave. The interior decor is so unique. This ice cream shop is VERRRY artsy. Really like the interior design. Everything from the counter window, trash can, seats, and tables really matched the vibe and theme. Also very open to the street so gives it that cave entrance feel. Even the merch displays are put in cave like holes. Dayglow coffee: strong coffee flavor and not too sweet. However a bit bitter like burnt coffee but also I'm not a coffee connoisseur. Nekohama Hojicha: Great tea taste and super creamy. Love hojicha flavor and they nailed it on the dot. Cantaloupe melon: our favorite!!! Not super sweet or artificial. Really good melon flavor!! Love this flavor and hope they still have it next time I go. Gaviota Strawberry: apparently they use strawberries from tamai farms! They have great strawberries so the ice cream was definitely tasty. However it was too sweet/sour after a while. We put coffee and hojicha together while melon and strawberry were together to make a good flavor match. (Light Fruity vs strong heavier notes) Price is pretty average considering the generous scoops they gave me! Definitely a place to try flavors and share with friends. It's a lot of ice cream. Also they let you sample all the flavors! The sample spoons are made of metal lol even better material they use for utensils. Definitely will be coming back for seasonal flavors! read more
Awan continues to make some of the best vegan ice cream in LA, solid service, and a very unique ambiance as well. The only downside is they have a limited selection of flavors. Personally, out of all the samples I've tried, only the strawberry really stood out as truly worth getting. The Larchmont location has a lot of competition, since Salt & Straw, Jenni's, and Bacio De Latte. I think Bacio De Latte might be the best out of these. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR MY LACTOSE GIRLIES! Awans ice creams are both delicious and great for anyone with a dairy (and possibly additive) intolerance. As someone who has a bad reaction to dairy products and many dairy alternative products( such as oat and almond milks), I am so happy that I can enjoy ice cream worry free at awan. The store has a cool concept, though small, you will feel like you're in a cute cave. You'll need to find street parking which may be difficult during weekends. The cashier was super kind and patient, and the flavors were all tasty, some a bit too sweet for me but still delicious none the less. Would love to see milder flavors from awan. - CHOCOLATE OREO: creamy and delicious! Great choice for chocolate lovers -BALINESE VANILLA BEAN: best "not too sweet" option -MATCHA GUAVA: the guava over powers the matcha, don't order if you are expecting a strong earthy matcha flavor. Mo is a rockstar and singlehandedly convinced me of Awan's deliciousness. When I arrived, I wasn't fully convinced Awan would be worth the hype, and I was planning to get vanilla, totoro, and grapefruit flavor. Thanks to his savvy customer-facing personality and in-depth knowledge of the flavor profiles, Mo was able to instead guide me towards ordering blood orange & gaviota, and totoro&their limited edition valhrona chocolate chip which honestly was way better than chocolate oreo and should become a menu staple. Of all the flavors, I would say valhrona and gaviota were my favorites handsdown. Awan's exterior is adorable, and fitting for their ice cream theme. Love a sweet treat that isn't so sweet and this is it! The flavors are so simple but so yummy! The lady who served us was so nice and patient with my group that wanted to try most of the flavors (it's so hard to pick!!). The atmosphere was very dark but we also came in around 9-ish so it's to be expected haha read more
Cute place near Melrose. Had the option of ordering 2 flavors from very unique choices. Couldn't make out the spices, but can say it was very delicious and CREAMY. Surprising for being completely vegan. 8 out of 10 for me. Enjoy. read more
Loved the concept of this store! It's like a cave and has no door. Service was a bit slow because there was only one worker when we went. Flavors are all quite strong, especially the speciality flavors. However, we ultimately decided on the vanilla bean and Oreo cookies & cream double scoop. Vanilla bean was more like a coconut flavor and had a very smooth rich texture while the Oreo cookies & cream was a bit less smooth and more on the bitter side actually. Both flavors were actually on the non-sweeter side. An interesting store with interesting flavors! read more

This place was really cute! I liked how dim it was. Nice way to get out of the sun and be a lizard. I tried their stranger things special an bd their vanilla. Really great! The person at the counter let us sample the flavors before we decided which combos to get. They also brought it to us when it was finished. I can't wait to go back! read more
