They only have two motorboats and one was already taken so be aware. There isn't a reservation system so line up early. Many people came afterwards looking for motorboats. The staff helped me get acquainted with the boat and then helped us load our gear and set us off. The boat ran fine and was what I expected (a small skiff boat). Upon return they helped us out of the boat and carry our gear back to the boat house. A thing to know is that you have to park uphill from this Cama beach area and need a discover pass since you are in the Cama beach park. You can walk down to the boat house area and borrow a wagon/cart for the cabin campers to help you lug down your gear.

You can even take lessons or join one of their sales. The museum is free and it's not huge, but it's really nice. There's a "sister museum " on Camano Island but it's currently closed. I recommend Center For Wooden Boats if you're in the Lake Union area and are looking for a fun way to spend a few hours. The downside to this place is that, despite the parking lot right out front, the parking comes with a fee and the spaces fill up quickly. The streetcar stops right in front, but as a former volunteer it's inconvenient for me due to the time and amount of transfers it takes to get here using public transportation. But it's a fun place so if you don't mind the lack of free (and sometimes even paid parking is non existent) parking, this place is worth a visit

I have a 15hp Mercury 2-stroke outboard engine that had a frayed and stretched control cable. The…read moreengine wouldn't shift between drive, neutral and reverse. I took the engine to Performance Marine who conducted a very thorough inspection of the engine and recommended I get a tune-up and service the water pump as well as fixing the tiller cable. I also had one transom bolt that was stripped and they replaced that as well. This engine is a workhorse and I have had it for decades with no issues. It is reassuring to know it has now been professionally inspected and tuned up. I will probably get many more years out of it. Ironically, after I picked up the engine from Performance Marine, it was literally a YEAR before I put her in the water. When I finally did, I was nervous (and a bit embarrassed) that I had never tested it after the repairs. To my delight, she fired up on the second pull! A fine day ensued crabbing and sight-seeing on Dungeness Bay in Sequim.

It isn't a deposit; it is a fee. It doesn't matter if the reservation is months in advance, or if you cancel months in advance - no refund. Our boating plans change frequently due to changing weather, etc., so we could frequently lose the fee. This policy is unfair and unscrupulous, and the only marina or other business we know that does this.

Since I bought the boat a variety of issues have come up and some required replacement parts others just maintenance work. It has been my experience that Flower's does good work at a very fair price. Joe, the owner, is one of the more enjoyable people to deal with. He is patient and will explain what they are doing in a manner that is easy to understand. He and his mechanic are also VERY willing to give advice on work that you might undertake yourself and avoid a trip to the shop. All in all, a great business to do work with.
