Based on the website this place seemed to offer so much more for the same price as others but welllllll not so much. There was no corn maize due to lack of rain but they conveniently didn't mention that even though we specifically asked. The kiddie area was much smaller than expected- most of the fishing poles were in disrepair and that day they had a group of obnoxious scout groups that were loud and aggressive with our little ones trying to also enjoy the different attractions We paid for two fire pits that was suppose to seat up to 50 and not hardly if it weren't for our Group bringing their own chairs it would have been a real challenge to seat 50 Their roasted corn is tasty and their general store cute but we came for a cornmaze and bonfire and really only got 1 read more

The beginning of this month we traveled to North Carolina to celebrate the marriage of my boyfriends good friend. He was the best man so it was important that we came. Aw Shucks was one of the many barns they looked at but ended up being the winner and was highly talked about to us before we even arrived to the premises. The hype was real! The barn was absolutely gorgeous inside and out, (with full working A/C I might add!). The entire grounds is HUGE, there is a well constructed fire pit to sit around, and the area in the back where the marriage ceremony took place was properly shaded and well decorated. You can explore by walking around and there are little shops you can get adorable gifts from, try some yummy ice cream, or take instagram worthy pictures. The workers we encountered throughout our busy filled night were all extremely friendly and helpful. The outdoor bathrooms are the perfect setup and are actually the most fancy mobile bathrooms Ive ever seen lol. Thank you for making a friends wedding more than memorable. Visited this farm for a friend's wedding and had an absolute blast. The wedding barn and outdoor ceremony were beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed seeing the animal barn and exploring the grounds. We tried the Cheerwine float at the soda shop and chicken tenders at Big B's and both were delicious! All staff we encounter were very kind. We went here this past weekend for some pumpkin fun. I looked online first of course and everything looked legit. We wanted to originally go to Wise Acres but it was booked up. So we drive out to Aw Shucks....it's $11 for adults to get in and $9 for kids. Everything else is extra. Extra for any food and drinks, extra for gem mining ($6 small bucket or $8 large bucket...they are premade, not real gem mining), extra for pumpkins, extra for the spooky trail, etc. I didn't see any pricing online so please take note about the fee to get in which includes entrance, corn maze, playgrounds, and animals. Also another important thing to note during covid...yes it's all outside. But not a single person working there was wearing a mask, just FYI. There were only small pumpkins for sell. No big ones, they had ran out and we're having some shipped. Def not a farm where you pick off the vine! read more

This is a nice space to bring a young child/toddler, as there are lots of farm activities. HOWEVER, The actual pumpkin patch / corn maze / hayride were one star at best :/ The corn maze was pretty trampled (I'm sure it's better earlier in the season), and the hayride was pretty redneck (no hay, and it barely goes in the woods--it just drives past a bunch of literal junk). One more thing worth mentioning, I arrived only shortly after opening on Sunday, and there was a decent amount of trash on the ground. Also the bouncing balls and basketballs were all deflated. Just a note of caution if you are having your wedding at this venue. At the end of the night of the wedding make sure you check with a representative at the venue to make sure none of their items are missing. I had a deposit on the venue that I can now not get returned as I was told several items were missing from the venue about 3 weeks after the event. The venue advised if the items were returned I could possibly get my deposit back. It is a no win situation to be put in as you cannot ask your guests did you take any items from the wedding reception? So I just lost the money. It is a shame guests would do that, but at the same time how would I know? Again just be careful & make sure you go over the inventory prior to & after the event. read more

Sad to say I have to rate this place as a 1 star. Went with my family and we all ordered food. $5.50 for a plain burger patty, no lettuce, no tomato, they ran out of most of the condiments and the "burger" tasted like it sat there all day. Chicken fingers were literally ice cold and hard as a rock. When we went to let the staff know they had the nerve to break the chicken strip in front of us and asked what was wrong with it. Seems the food quality is the poorest available and the staff could care less. Terrible customer service. The country store that used to be well stocked seemed to have items left over from past seasons and they raised the prices to compensate for lack of inventory. Yesterday we arrived at 5:00 pm and there were hundreds of people with 9 out of 10 people, or less, NOT wearing masks or social distancing. It was over capacity and down right scary. Very disappointing trip, none of the employees wore mask and it was not required. We wore our mask and social distanced. The attractions were not fun and the kids were ready go after30 minutes. We did not order food due to our safety concerns. Great, for pictures but not worth price. We arrived at noon on Saturday and took one of the last spots. Unfortunately, when we left there were cars packed with people that stretched for a mile long. THE 13th ACRE : I was in 'the Halloween industry' for a few years, so I have an idea of what I am looking at. Guys, this haunted trail is amazing! It is well organized, the actors are extremely talented and (without giving anything away) that even if you are a hardened, determined I-refuse-to-have-fun kind of person, you're still going to get scared. The 13th Acre is a haunt I will gladly put against The Haunted Mill and Booger Woods and is in my opinion better than the aged Campground Massacre. None of these are bad, I am saying that I liked 13th Acre better. Go, take some friends and be open to having fun. read more

We went on my sons first school field trip today and the staff was very kind and took me from station to station in their gator. I've been here several years In a row and I love it. This year we drove out and immediately turned around due to the extreme lack of masks and social distancing. Hundreds of people with no masks packed like sardines. We aren't out of the woods yet with this pandemic people. I understand you can't control how many people show up, but other similar businesses have mitigated this by selling tickets for certain times to control crowds and risk of spread. 3 star but bumped to 4 for the 13th Acre Haunted Trail that is associated. This place is actually a really great place to gather as a family, enjoy a corn maze and partake in some really clean family fun. They have a live bluegrass or country band normally and there are other activities like a hayride and little mini playground to keep the kiddies entertained. I will tell you that you'd be hard pressed to spend a whole lot of time here as most of the activities don't take long. Next year I think we will rent a little spot and grill out as a family and that might be even more fun. Now, the 13th Acre Haunted Trail is another story. I don't have a lot reference for haunted houses, trails, etc. so keep that in mind but I thought this one was very well put together. It takes a solid 15 minutes to walk it and you will be scared so I think it's certiainly worth the extra costs to do it. Only downside, no adult beverages....ugh.....but they do have a cool old country store with the old time bottled soda and some other neat stuff. read more

We drove 45 minutes this weekend to visit the cornmaze, only to turn right around upon arrival and drive home. They were clearly not complying with guidelines for COVID- no capacity limits, no social distancing in the entrance line, throughout the park, on the wagon rides...it looked like a Covid hotspot. Once falls gets in session Aw Shucks farm offers The 13th Acre. One of the scariest haunts in the Charlotte area. From the moment that you step out of your car, The 13th Acre will sure to send chills down your spine. As you walk up to get in line you are greeted by many characters like, "Jack Jack" and "Nicholas and Carl." As you stand in the queue line you are being scared left and right, and the haunt hasn't even started yet. Once you step foot into first scene you are sure to be screaming/jumping the rest of the way through. Not to mention how long it is. Amazing actors and great set design. Aw Shucks is pretty awesome! Great place to take the family for an afternoon pumpkin patch adventure. Plenty of goats, chickens, ponies to pet and feed. They have hay rides, a corn field maze, and even a pretty epic silo slide you have to see to believe! The food is okay, pretty standard fare with nachos and corn dogs and the like. Really it's just substance, the activities around the farm are why you're there. Definitely check out the gift shop though, cool old-school trinkety stuff. Highly recommended, but if you want to save some $$, buy your pumpkins elsewhere. read more

Our first mistake may have been going after Halloween, our second would be trying to wait to leave Charlotte until after friday night rush hour traffic and not realizing this place is sooo far out there. But, we had a Groupon, and we were going to use it! The staff was very friendly, but when we checked in they kind of only pointed in general directions, assuming another employee would be at their designated location. This wasn't the case when we approached the maze. Since no one was manning the station we just went it at the opening, and started walking around. I knew it was supposed to be multiple acres large, but in the dark it didn't look like it went further that 50 feet and then you hit a tree line, and the corn was so beat up it barely went up over our shoulders, so we definitely should have been able to see some other part of a maze... needless to say some direction would have been appreciated. We spent about 25 minutes in there are then decided that was enough. They had the tractor going for the hay rides, but again no one was there. The general store is well stocked with sodas, gifts, and novelties, and they have a small restaurant serving up nachos, popcorn, paninis, and the sort. They had a few other activities, but I was a little surprised there were either no lights on it, no one stationed there, or really any life nearby - so not the most inviting. Maybe our attempt to go later and to miss the big crowds really backfired. Maybe October weekends, with all the lines and waits, really gives you the best experience? read more

I have just exited the 13th Acre® segment in the Aw Shucks Farm and I can say "damn" That junk is one doggone scare my guy. I get out the car see this Big Show built wolf man staring at me. I'm kind of off the cannabis so you know I'm geeking already. I see a pretty long line so I expect to have to wait. But they offered a fast pass. So going in we get on a buss everything quiet and two men sitting on the end. Legs and everything shaking I start hearing screaming. The people were A1 actors dude. The ambient was terrifying, the place was well decorated. They had a pretty neat "IT" themed place and these one son of Satan dude come out with a chainsaw. THATS ONE DOGONE JOKER. But to sum it all in, the pay and/or wait is actually worth it every bit. Ps I'm high ass fuck right now. You can bet a pig in a hay stack I'll be back next year. read more

I think this would be a great place for little kids. Me and some friends went to do the corn maze but since it was the beginning of Nov, the corn Maze was kind of falling apart and not very difficult. They have animals, food and a pond. There was a lot more to do there than I expected. read more

We went here today on a field trip and had a really fun time. The animals were our favorite. They also have a huge slide that my son really liked. You could tell that the animals were well cared for and the guides happily answered any questions we had. I think we were supposed to get to see the cotton gin but we didn't get too. I was under the impression that the kids were going to get to do hands on activities but they didn't do anything hands on. We still had a good time though just my son was looking forward to that part. Oh, and even though we were on a field trip and we were chaperones we still had to pay even though we didn't get to participate. read more

Warning to Parents--We were at the corn maze tonight and had a bad experience. Be sure to go into the corn maze with your child and not let them roam on their own. My 14yr old son got jumped in the corn maze tonight by a stranger who took his cell phone as he was using it as a flash light. Luckily the group of boys he was with was able to chase down the guy and tackled him to get the phone back. Security in this venue is non existent as it appears the company only relies on the workers to manage. I'm sure it was a fluke from all the other good reviews but was not a good night for us and a warning to others. Which is why it got two stars. read more

Went to the haunted trail last night. I will say I've never been to one so I don't have anything to reference it to. It was very well setup and executed. Only groups of around 8-10 people go at once through on a delay so it's never overcrowded through the trail. Great scary scenes set up. All the actors were amazing. Looked like there was a lot to do for a family. read more

I had my wedding here this past Saturday, I don't have enough space to talk about how amazing this venue is/was!!! From Bonnie and Butch the owners and Jonna with the staff it was hands down the best decision! They were so friendly and accommodating for every little need that was requested. They NEVER made me feel like I was an inconvenience, but that It was never any trouble to do anything we asked. Came here for Halloween with my husband, I had seen several people in the area mention it and I can easily say I would not go back. We paid $21 to go and walk through the corn maze which wasn't very impressive and then walk around the property and visit the old train car. It was about a 45 minute drive for us and I could not have been more disappointed with the way things turned out. Definitely not worth the cost of admission. read more

The maze was pretty scary but super short and a very long wait.They say they sell the last ticket at 11 and close at 11:30.We got there at 9:30 and all we did was the maze.The tractor ride was close, the corn maze was "about to close" and they were shutting off light 10 mins before 11pm.Why sell tickets so late is everything is closing so early? If you're looking to get scared this is not the place to go ! Just unhappy with the experience and how rude everyone was when it came close to closing. Variety of things to do and see. While the kids loved seeing the animals, the hayride, and the grain bin slide. Lots of cute areas for taking pictures. Other areas could use a little TLC though. As others mentioned, the corn maze was pitiful, which surprised us as other area farms had fine mazes. There is a rather high children's treehouse that has railing boards missing and an incredibly awkward slide that starts on steps. The kids fort also has wall boards missing on the upper level, so watch small children extra carefully. The GEM Mine was terrible. No clean water, mining in muddy red clay water and everything was covered in it. Just leaning on the water table, both kids got it all over their jackets. Luckily, we had extra clothes in the car. Mediocre rocks found and all the mud were not worth the additional cost after admission to do this. I do like you can bring your own food and we will do that next time as the burgers were quite poor. Overall, lots of potential, but not sure we would drive an hour here again with other options available. read more

Hmm well where to start...well we have 5 kids...the ages are 22, 15, 14, 9 and 4 months. We usually take a visit to aw shucks multiple times every fall...we absolutely have to because we cannot juggle all the different things with the kids...we normally go with our 22 year old to the haunted walk through, get hot apple cider, roasted corn, buy novelties in the shop, and leave , then another weekend take the 15, and 14 year old for their own special time and do the same only we do the maze, pick pumpkins, and 2 years ago were able to talk them into doing the haunted walk through which they loved...then we take the 9 year old because she always feels the odd one out and we again do the apple cidar, novelties, buy a pumpkin, do the maze, the train car etc...the 4 month old hasn't been yet obviously but if we go with just him we will be doing nothing except having a relaxing adult time with our newest member, hot apple cider, roasted corn, some pictures but all in all spend a total of 30 to 60 minutes tops to only buy stuff ..... so I was told by about 5 different couples with kids I know not to go this year..because they started charging general admission and it's simply not worth it anymore.... to make sure I shot the farm an email explaining that we don't do any activities with our 4 month old and I got the response of...YES MAAM...everyone pays admission....WOOOWWWW I guess if y ou have one kid and one visit and your doing all the activities you might consider it but in one season ...... so you mean to tell me my admission alone because my husband and I both attend activities with the kids would be around $120 for the season just to pretty much sit there and watch our kids....another $70 for haunted walk through be cause the adults take two sets of kids ... about $40 in pumpkins, around $150 to $250 in apple cider, corn, novelties, candy.... This place has now become a rip off.... they used to have someone at every activity to take tickets... I guess they just got greedy, they don't even charge like this in long Island NY....you have to be out of your mind to pay this...it is cheaper for us to go to Carowinds and do pumpkins independently. we will find other places to spend our money ...because $600 on a fall tradition is obsurd read more

Bonnie and her staff are extremely efficient, friendly, caring, outgoing, and they made sure we had absolutely everything we needed to make the wedding/reception went smoothly. Even our guests and family said this was the nicest venue and staff of people they have ever seen at a wedding, or any other party for that matter!
