This place... I wish I never stopped. Bad service. Bad food. We ordered "house special" margaritas and waited 1/2h... I asked our waiter twice and she told us bar is busy. Customers who walked in behind us had better service. So we asked other waiter and our original waiter got mad. She brought us dinner before our first drink! $10 house special margarita was so sweet and I did not taste any alcohol. Bad cocktail in plastic cup. Food... I think I had better frozen Mexican food than food this restaurant served. Over cheesed, over cooked, no flavor, no spiced bad bad Mexican food. I've had their soup and it was very good with good mix of vegetables, rice and chicken. I decided to go in for an order to-go. They told me 5-8 minutes and I ended up waiting for 20-25 minutes. We have tried MexiCali and they are more like a hot dog stand compared to Habaneros. This is authentic Mexican and wow taste great. Service, food and atmosphere all 5's. These kind folks kept the chips & salsa flowing and I liked that a great deal. When a man like me waltz into a fine Mexican establishment with my massive amount of masculinity oozing all over the place the best coarse of action is to direct me to a booth and start pouring sweet and tangy salsa down my gullet. These guys were hustling, i'd say four or five different workers came to my table making sure I was treated like the King I am. I had the daily special, which consisted of rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, and two enchiladas (one with red sauce and another with salsa verde). Overall the food was good and the service was robust and in yo face! No blowouts either! I give it two tacos up. read more

The food and portion sizes are typical of any Mexican restaurant. The food is well flavored, and they offer a wide array of Mexican dishes. My wife and I are very big Mexican food consumers. As being such we like a bit more spice than most and absolutely love our salsa leading me to my next point. As being big salsa lovers we went through the small bowl they brought us to start with. We asked for a larger bowl, it was accompanied by a snide remark stating "I hope you can eat all of that" I understand not wasting, but I am playing for food and service. Rudeness is not appreciated. Why does this place not have 5 red stars??? This is the best Mexican food I've had in a long, long time. Authentic, very fresh, probably all made in house from scratch. The chips were light and crispy, the salsa is very good and fresh. So I had the chili relleno (3.99) with rice and beans (3.35) , my husband had the combination plate chile relleno and enchiladas. As soon as I tasted the beans, I knew we found our spot. It was so flavorful and tasty. The rice was cooked the usual way which I like to mix with salsa but I didn't this time because I wanted to taste all the wonderful flavors. Finally, the child relleno was amazingly light, just the right amount of cheese and sauce, lightly battered, and with authentic style mashed potatoes just at the stem part of the chile. It was awesomely awesome! And the staff were so friendly. I hope more people come because this place beats any of the other Mexican restaurants here. We will be back for lunch tomorrow:) read more

This place is legit. I got the Señor Hambre with steak. It was gigantic and seasoned with a nice little kick. My party got the queso fundido, which was basically a nice chorizo and queso dip. The service was quick. It was delicious. My party and I wanted something a little more authentic than most Mexican places and Habaneros delivered. It was terrific! And I left stuffed. If you want a hungry man's meal with some heat, get the Señor Hambre. read more

ALERT: NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY!! I was very excited to see their "vegetarian" selections on their menu - however this must be a joke! Ordered the "vegetarian" fajitas, when they arrived found a few pieces of steak. Explained to my waitress that I'm a vegetarian, ordered "vegetarian" fajitas and asked her politely to have the chef make a new plate. Now after at least 45 minutes at the restaurant, my 2nd round of "vegetarian" fajitas comes out and I find a piece of chicken in it this time! I couldn't believe it. I told her I'm not going to reorder and sent it back. To top off my horrible experience, I saw my waitress explaining to either the owner or manager what happened and I saw him laugh and shrug it off like no big deal. We went there for dinner hoping for quality Mexican food. The experience was less than ideal. The regular lemon Margarita was salty and you could not taste the tequila flavor. The taco salad that was supposed to bring beans had none, and the veggies (it was for a vegan person) tasted stale and salty too at the same time. The plantains tasted stale and the cheese had no flavor. They really need to revisit their dishes and give more tools to the chef. However, the place was clean and the people working there were nice. I was really excited to try this new restaurant, but sadly it was a pretty terrible dining experience. We were the only customers in Habaneros at 4:30pm. Four servers were working, or more accurately, sitting at the bar and talking. Service was incredibly slow and lacking. We ordered steak fajitas and chicken fajitas- both were horribly overcooked and the small amount of sides that came with were barely enough for one tortilla. When I asked for more, it showed up as an extra side on the bill even though they never said anything about it being extra. The rice and beans had obviously been sitting around and were very dried out. When I said the meat was way overcooked, the server said he would check and see what was going on in the kitchen, but never came back to tell us anything or offer any replacement. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Habaneros. read more

We've tried just about every Mexican restaurant in Sarasota/Bradenton without luck but we finally struck gold at Habaneros! I had a combo meal of a taco and tostada and my husband had a chicken burrito. Both were so delicious and extremely fresh! After every bite we kept saying to each other " this is sooo good!" The frozen strawberry margarita was large enough to share and really yummy! The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly! We will definitely be back! read more

We moved to Bradenton a few years ago from Sarasota and had yet to find a good and quick Mexican restaurant. We have been twice this week so we have obviously enjoyed the place. Very similar to Mi Pueblo in Sarasota. We do recommend it if you are in the SR64 Manatee Ave west of downtown. read more

This place is nice , clean and friendly ! Plus the food was great . The chips and salsa are delicious and in the table as soon as you seat. The only negative is the kids meal , my 7 year old loves fajitas but not on the menu here so he got the cheese quesadilla , cold tortilla made with mozzarella cheese !. It is inexpensive, and for what you're getting it should be The service: very fast which is a huge plus but not the friendliest. They were professional but where overtly nowhere near going the extra mile for the client. The food: the food was tasty, but again it falls in line with three stars. It wasn't memorable, it was a good meal but nothing to write home about. The only weird thing food related was they only have refried beans. I happen to enjoy them but when other people at the table asked for black beans or a salad those options were not available... I found that bizarre. No black beans at a mexican restaurant??? The ambiance: it felt Mexican, the AC should have been a little cooler, it was nice inside but again nothing special. I would have been happier if the server hadn't forgotten that I ordered my margarita without salt and also that I asked for pico de gallo on the side.
