Very decent. Nice atmosphere, good service and decent to very good food. I got to try the mixed meat fajitas, the enchiladas Verdes as well as the queso fundido. The fajitas were really good. The enchiladas Verdes were good and the queso fundido was decent (probably just that is prepared differently than I am used to). The service was friendly and efficient. Additionally, the food came out quickly and was well prepared. The serving size is Big so you won't leave hungry. The margaritas were really good as well as the Beer selections. Overall, it was Good+. I am spoiled in that I have lived in So Cali & Texas. I KNOW great Mexican food. For Florida, this is pretty good. read more

BRING OUT THE TACOS! That's what I heard one patron call out and I agree! Nice little place. Went for $0.99 taco Tues and it was worth it!! They brought out the salsa and chips which was a smooth style but had a nice mellow onon/garlic flavor. Got the margarita special and it was good. Out came the .99 tacos and they were kickin! ordered 6 and enjoyed them so much I ordered 3 more. the meat actually had flavor compared to other places I've been where you have to put hot sauce to add flavor. SHRINK IT DOWN!! I don't think they can shrink it any further. I only wish I would have taken a picture. The lunch chimichanga was made with a 6" tortilla, with maybe 2 teaspoons of cheese sauce on it (even though I asked for heavy on the cheese sauce). The rice-if it was 3 tablespoons that is an exaggeration, and it no longer comes with the refried beans-all for $12.99 what a rip off-never again!!!!! read more

Very nice lunch. Attentive service, good place for vegetarian option. Chips warm and salsa good. We are in Palmetto and unfortunately the local options are not great and mostly dirty inside and out. This was clean and refreshing. My lunch entree was Dos Amigos with one chicken and one beef. Both were well filled. Everyting was great. Only negative tip: skip the unsweetened iced tea. I really wanted to like this place based on the positive reviews, but had a negative experience. The wood four tops are all sticky. That already set the mood that it was going to be a weird night. Drinks came out not too long after and it's a great deal for $3 margaritas, but they're not good. Just tasted like sour mix with a touch of tequila. I ordered a vodka with club soda which came out tasting like vodka water because it wasn't carbonated. I asked them to fix, the bartender looked visibly upset and just added some more non carbonated wafer to the glass. I tried again and just sent it back, opting for water instead. Chips and salsa were a redeeming quality. Their salsa and homemade hot sauce are great. I had a hard beef taco, chile relleno, and it came with rice and beans. Everything kinda tasted the same and the edges of the rice were dry like the dish sat under the heat lamp too long. My wife's taco salad was inedible except for a couple shreds of steak that were just ok. The salad itself was soggy and lifeless in the fried tortilla bowl. When the bill came the vodka drink was on the bill. I asked for it to be removed and the server had to ask the bartender to do it who again looked visibility upset about this and looked over at my table multiple times. Eventually it was removed but come on how can you serve something like that? It's a common mixed drink. read more

If the only thing you like to eat at Mexican cuisine's is salsa, simply come here just for that. Down pat, this pace served the best salsa and chips that ever past my lips. It was sweet and clean on the palette. Unlike some salsas that knock your socks off with the after kick. The place was fairly empty so we were ushered to our seats as soon as we stepped in. The hostess was our server as well. He was extremely attentive and friendly. He kept our glasses and tummies full. Ordering was simple. (See my photos of the menu). Things are marked clearly and described to the taste. I ordered a Tamal and a Taquito. The tamal was a little too hot for my tongue due to the red sauce and the taquito was a little bland. But for getting our food in such a short time, it was still yummy. Parking would be limited on a busy night, but since it was mid afternoon, it was easy to park. There is a bakery and an icecream shop next door if you wanted dessert afterwards. A family member recommended this place and glad we went because of the salsa! read more

We had dinner our first time this year, but the food did not compare to what we had about a year ago. The restaurant is clean and we were waited on quickly. The complimentary ships and salsa are excellent. There was a special advertised for twenty dollars, Shrimp Cantina, I believe was the name. It was seasoned shrimp on rice SMOTHERED in white cheese. The cheese hardened as the warm plate cooled with cheese being the only flavor along with the shrimp if eaten individually. I added the table salsa for flavor and moisture. My wife's sampler plate included two heavy with cheese quesadillas, and some beef/chicken filled items which were very bland. read more

I went to this place a very long time ago and was not really impressed. So we never went back. Until one day i thought we need to go back there and see if its any better. So we went back and i was so happy we did!!! It was great, the food was so good. I will say we are pretty much eating there at least twice a week now. Thats how much better it is. Called to place an order for pickup today - was loud in the background but they said 29 minutes for two burritos. Fine but when I got there there was still a 15 minute wait to pick up the food. That said it was pretty good. I wish they were more organized but I will definitely try them again in the future. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and it was pretty good and a little spicy, but I like spicy food. If you don't want that ask them to remove the jalapeños. read more

Oh my good lord my poor belly. Why did you do this to be Habaneros? No, no, I can't blame you. My cravings wrote a check my stomach can't cash. It's not your fault, except it is. So I decided I wanted to try something new during lunch today. When I don't bring my own lunch to work, I tend to just grab a sandwich or sub, but I wanted to sit down and read today, so I drove to Habaneros, having passed it a number of times. After reading their menu before walking in, I figured tacos would do, but when I walked in and read their full menu, I decided to go with their chili verde. Ohhhhhhhhh, boy. Mistake. Anyway, firstly, and this isn't a problem, but my server was this corn-fed farmers boy from Idaho. Not very authentic. No, the servers in a Mexican Restaurant do not need to be Mexican, but if your server in a Chinese restaurant was a white dude from Wisconsin, you'd probably be a bit worried about the authenticity. Maybe it's just me. Service was great - he was awesome, no complaints, and like I said, this isn't an issue. Just found it unexpected. Started with the standard chips and salsa that any good Mexican restaurant gives automatically. Liked the chips - tasted fresh, not greasy. Salsa was good, too. Not very chunky though - may have been store bought. The chili verde looked like it'd be good. Large chunks of pork that just fell apart sitting in a green chili sauce, refried beans, and rice, with corn tortillas. It looked better than it tasted, not that it tasted bad though. Just not great. If it wasn't for the noises being made by my stomach, I might have gone 3 stars. The tortillas were a problem They brought me out 4 corn tortillas wrapped in aluminum foil, but clearly they were wrapped poorly or too soon because they were all stuck together. I was only able to get 2 tortillas out of the whole deal. The last problem was the smell. When I sat down, it smelled like a bathroom. Should have known at that point and just left, but I would have been embarrassed. So, to recap. Okay food, bad tortillas, horrible smell, and terrible terrible stomach pains afterwards. Sunday @ 3:30 Was very quiet and no one else there. Walked in an immediately got seated. Chips and salsa on the table as we sat. The chips were awesome. Freshly made and the salsa was obviously made on site. The server was very good and tried to be authentic. Didn't work but who cares, he was great. Had the Cha Cha chimichanga which were delicious. They needed to be a little crispier but the taste made up for that. Besides they made me new ones in a few minutes. They can make anything w/I the meat, but that is not actually a vegetarian option since the price is the same. 2.). Got charged a dollar for the spicy salsa when the chunky salsa is free of charge. Giving an A-OK because we are torn! Very Sick of their mistakes on our take-out orders, however, we do like the food. Ate in restaurant once, service & cleanliness was fine. Have phoned in take-out orders at least 25 times & eaten many things on their menu, all good. We especially like their Salsa, Jalapeños Poppers, Chili Verde, & Polo Borracho. The Polo Borracho has great flavor, but the chicken is 'always' dry. To get on to our disappointment - Out of 25 take-out orders, only 5 have been correct! To make matters worse, when you notify them, either over phone, or getting in the car & driving back to the restaurant to tell the manager in person, they just don't give a darn! They will give you whatever is missing, but without a care in the world, or any concern for your trouble. Last night they forgot to include any tortillas with the Chile Verde order. DO NOT order take-out from them without checking your full order inside the restaurant before leaving! Many, many times we have ordered (& paid for) extra Salsa, only to discover it has not been included in our order! The problem is obviously NEVER ADDRESSED with staff, & last night, while reporting it to management, they hardly took the time to acknowledge us, while handing some tortillas to us, as they are turning away to move on to the next thing they are doing. Have never felt appreciated as a repeat customer, & their negligence in filling take-out orders completely is unbelievable. read more

Never ending chips and salsa make for a good dining experience. Prices are reasonable. The decor is fairly standard for a Mexican place. It's nice to have an affordable place to grab a few tacos.
