I have been coming to this salon for quite a few years now. Cindy is extremely meticulous, very friendly and professional. She's great at remembering everyone's name which makes you feel very welcome. Yes some of the technicians use gloves when doing pedicures but I'm pretty sure I would too - doesn't bother me. The spa pedicures are very relaxing in the massage chair. How much leg massage you get varies a bit based on who you get. I am very picky about my nails and I like the way Cindy does it. I get great gel manicures and pedicures. I love I can get a gel manicure for 25 dollars. If I want to add a pedicure, it's still under 50 dollars. This was going to be my first time getting a fill at this salon. I called to make an appointment for 12:00 pm-and asked how long it would take. The lady said it would only take 40 minutes for a fill, and see me at 12. My gel manicure started chipping two days after I got it. Within a week so many nails were chipped I thought I'd attempt peeling them off. I've never been able to literally peel all the polish off on the first try without even damaging the nail. For this quality I should have gotten a regular manicure. Gels usually last at least two weeks. Super bummed I also was a bit hesitant regarding the quality of the salon. It needs a bit of a deep cleaning and make over. The paintings on the walls were crooked. The chairs seemed dingy. I wasn't sure about the cleanliness and disinfection of the equipment. The technicians were all very nice but I'd rather pay twice as much for quality work in a clean salon. read more

I see Cindy every 2 weeks and she is fantastic! I have never had a nail break, chip of lift. I get compliments on my nails all the time. I also love that Cindy knows the name and likes of all of her customers. Her memory is impressive and it makes you feel important. My daughter went to a less expensive nail salon in the mall and they did a horrible job. They painted and updated chairs etc since the really bad reviews. This is my favorite place to come for gel polish mani. The reason for 4 stars is bc when I get a gel polish pedi, they start in one chair to remove the old gel polish, then move me to the pedi chair for the pedi, but then move me again to a mani chair to paint them. I told them they could drain the pedi basin while preparing my polish with the light, that way I wouldn't have to move again. But that's my only complaint. I have been going to Avocado Nails for almost four years. When I was in sixth grade I developed a case where my toe nails would develop into ingrowns. I consistently had to have surgeriues to fix the issue. Then one of the staff members at my school recommended Holly at Avocado Nails. I went in for a pedicure and she helped me with my ingrown and it wasn't painful at all. I ditched the surgeries and Holly has been the only person I see for my pedicures. I used to go to this place all the time when i first moved to Rancho SD many years ago so now that I am back I did not think twice about it. I couldn't help to notice how run down the place is and dirty. The waiting area is dirty, the chairs are dirty, the floors look like the have not been swept in a while and then I got this feeling in my gut telling me to run. But I did not listen! Got a pedicure in the spa chair which they used to clean before after use but they dont now. And also white tip acrylic nails. Boy do I regret it now. I caught a nasty fungus in my feet and hands :( disgusting. A couple of days after i already knew something was wrong, my feet started getting this white skin around my big toe, under the toe nails n on the bottom of my feet. A couple of weeks later i decided to remove my acrylic nails and i could see black lines running down my nails. Now i have lost half the nail on my pinkie gross!!! Beware people that place is nasty. I have now found a new place in La Mesa where they use plastic bags to cover the tubs and i am getting my pedi there!! Btw i used tea tree oil on my feet to get rid of some of that skin peeling fungus! read more

Not too pleased with my first visit here. Spa chairs were very basic, the surrounding areas weren't very clean. My nail tech cut my cuticle with his cuticle scissors. Aside from the previous annoyances, they charged my sister 6 extra dollars for a French tip pedicure. To me, that's a little excessive. Also, it's not clearly listed on their pricing sheet. Staff here at this salon are very nice. But it takes more then just that to get customers through your doors. They definitely need new chairs in the front, as the ones provided were dirty and old. Maybe a little paint on the walls, would make the whole salon look nicer and cleaner. A throw rug would be great also, as the tile on the floors looked dingy and cracked in some corners. In need of my weekly Spa Pedicure and need to find a place close to Ranch San Diego. I came to the center where the gym is and found this place in the corner. I was first not sure about this place, they took me right away. Nail Polish color selection is not that great but found a color that works for me. I was not sure how much the pedicure was and they didn't have me a laminated sheet to let them know which pedicure I wanted. I added on a wax service and figure my bill would be $40 so when I asked how much my bill was $27 for everything. What!?! Nice pedicure with callus remover and lip / chin wax all for the low low price of $27??? I was in shock for a moment then I paid them with my card. I wasn't able to go to my usual place so I decided to try a new place out near my house. It is conveniently located in a shopping center so many things are surrounding the place making it a little hidden. It looks a little run down and could use a small face lift considering the area it is in but still had a good experience. The workers there are all very nice and seem to care and have a conversation with their clients. Not only that but I was in there while they had some regulars come in and they always knew what they wanted which was pretty cool and everyone that finished up always sounded happy with th en results. read more

I have been going to this place off and on for about 7 years for acrylics, pedi's and brow waxing. I can go over a year without going in and Cindy, the owner, always remembers my name. I have brought my mother and grandmother into Avocado Nails and she remembers them too! The atmosphere isn't very impressive but their work always exceeds my expectations. Their prices are in line with what they should be. I have mostly had good experiences with other salons but I make the drive from Mission Beach just because I like to feel remembered. 6 stars! read more

I went in for an eyebrow wax a few weeks ago and had the best of my life the woman did exactly what I wanted and my eyebrows looked amazing so of course I came back today. HORRIBLE idea. I got a different woman this time and once again explained exactly what I wanted. She did an awful job hacked my left eyebrow and left the other one decent. Its ridiculous how different they look. I had used many nail salons before trying Avocado Nails and always had my acrylic french manicure have at least one nail break. Then i found Avocado Nails and have been coming back for over 3 years. My nails always last 3 weeks and look great Cindy does a great job. If she is on vacation Holly also does a nice job. For my pedicures I use Natalie or Lina and they are wonderful. I used Avocado nails for years. Cindy does a wonderful job and Holly does a great pedicure......but, the salon is filthy. The front chairs are so disgusting I would not sit on them and the floor is always dirty. I watched the owners husband come in to mop the tile floor with the dirtiest, blackest shredded mop I have ever seen. He just moved dirty water around the floor. The waxing room has a faded, stained sheet that I would have thrown out. I just could not stand the dirt anymore so I have found another salon just down the road. Disgusting air--they're too cheap to have decent ventilation, the guys reek of ashtrays and smoke blows in the nail shop to mix with acrylic smells.
