I just had my first appointment at Aviva this morning and I already can't recommend it enough. I'm from the area originally but live in NYC and am visiting my parents in NH. My eyebrows were long overdue for a touch up. I haven't waxed them in years as I have been having them threaded in New York for a long time now. I quickly realized threading services certainly aren't as common in NH/ME so I started looking for viable waxing services and that's what led me to Aviva. Alisha was so warm and accommodating immediately, and the space is beautiful, clean and calming. Alisha and I chatted throughout my waxing and she's incredibly friendly, interesting and kind while not getting distracted from giving me truly impeccable eyebrows. She was gentle and meticulous and made sure I knew what she was doing and was ok with the direction she was taking with shaping my brows the entire time, which I really appreciated. I have naturally very thick dark eyebrows and they really do make such a difference on my face depending on the shape so I'm particular. Everything was perfect, virtually pain free. I will definitely come back here anytime I'm in the area and will absolutely be recommending to all of my friends nearby. I get my Brazilian wax here. I love this place! They are so kind and thorough. They make you feel very comfortable. I'm impressed with how much less it hurt than some other places. From my first interaction online with Aviva in anticipation of booking a wax, to every appointment since, I have never been disappointed and in fact have often been beyond impressed. The online scheduling system is a breeze to use and sends confirmations as well. So great! Ryan is amazing, and is who I usually see for my monthly Brazilian, but I recently experienced Alisha instead and although their techniques/styles are very different, they are both incredible. I have nothing negative to say about either of them. Both are very friendly and conversational during the wax, but incredibly professional. let's be honest, a Brazilian wax is something that could be AWKWARD, but they both make it so comfortable and easy and QUICK! They are efficient, but very thorough. I have not used Aviva for any other services, but if they can give the best Brazilian in town, then I'm sure they can handle any other service with ease. And although some people claim to have a "painless" Brazilian, I will say that they must not have nerve endings. A Brazilian hurts, even with the best esthetician, but it doesn't have to be excruciating. At Aviva, they keep the pain to a minimum and that's saying a lot. The shop itself is intimate, cute and clean. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Went to see Michaela for an In-Betweeny wax. She was phenomenal and super professional. I had a terrible experience last month at another location and going to Aviva was like upgrading from a motel to the Ritz. Their office is clean, modern, and welcoming and the products they advertise are well known respected brands. Michaela is a sweetheart and I will definitely be going back to see her. For the service being done, she immediately makes you feel comfortable and there is no awkwardness in the room. Her methods were great, no double dipping the stick and it was generally painless as far as waxing goes. To top it all off their prices are super reasonable for the experience you get! I will definitely be coming back for future appointments. Location: I had a little bit of a tricky time finding it because I don't see well driving at night, but it is directly next to the fire station. Couldn't be happier! Make an appointment with Ryan! She has done such an amazing job with my Brazilian wax. She is incredibly meticulous, friendly, and professional-making sure you are nothing but comfortable and happy with the service. Prior to coming to Aviva, I had only ever been to one waxing studio downtown- I was very convinced it was the "best" place and that it would always be painful. Ryan has completely changed my view of how this service should be. I never feel uncomfortable or in any pain during or after the service. All appointments are made online, so the studio is always peaceful and quiet- no phones ringing and no one else walking in. Just light music and a fan. I love this adorable little "spa". Ryan is my go to gal for coloring and waxing. Always on time and consistently providing the same excellent results. Damn, Alisha is amazing! From start to finish, this was a perfect self-care experience. It was incredibly easy to book an appointment online (I went for a brow wax). I showed up a little early, but Alisha took me right away anyways. She was so personable and knew exactly what to do with my misshapen overgrown eyebrows. Aviva is nestled right next to the fire station in Portsmouth. You go up one flight of stairs (and may be greeted by Bella, the first floor furry greeter), before you arrive at the immaculate gorgeous salon. I started going to both Alisha and Michaela when they worked at another salon in town. When Alisha relocated, I followed her to her new business in order to keep getting the ultimate treatment. When I heard that Michaela had joined forces with her, I was thrilled. I have gotten my fair share of Brazilian waxes, and these ladies are the best in the game. They work fast, make you feel comfortable and are genuinely interested and care about you and your well being. Also, my eyebrows have never looked better. I can't recommend this place highly enough, and I won't go anywhere else for my waxing needs. A quick side note that isn't gushing: they do accept credit cards but not Amex. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars! Ryan did my make up for my vow renewal last weekend and I can honestly say that I have never felt more beautiful! She listened to everything I said, though it was just vague ideas and a couple of pinterest photos. She was sweet, professional, patient and incredibly talented.
