I just had my first appointment at Aviva this morning and I already can't recommend it enough…read more I'm from the area originally but live in NYC and am visiting my parents in NH. My eyebrows were long overdue for a touch up. I haven't waxed them in years as I have been having them threaded in New York for a long time now. I quickly realized threading services certainly aren't as common in NH/ME so I started looking for viable waxing services and that's what led me to Aviva. Alisha was so warm and accommodating immediately, and the space is beautiful, clean and calming. Alisha and I chatted throughout my waxing and she's incredibly friendly, interesting and kind while not getting distracted from giving me truly impeccable eyebrows. She was gentle and meticulous and made sure I knew what she was doing and was ok with the direction she was taking with shaping my brows the entire time, which I really appreciated. I have naturally very thick dark eyebrows and they really do make such a difference on my face depending on the shape so I'm particular. Everything was perfect, virtually pain free. I will definitely come back here anytime I'm in the area and will absolutely be recommending to all of my friends nearby. Jamie knows what she's doing, very well obviously, so right away that makes you relax. Then she just has a very calm and easy going demeanor, and easy to talk to. She was quick and efficient and I was finished and on my way before I knew it and extremely happy with my results. She's also very reasonable in her prices unlike sometimes overpriced spas for the same results and experience. Definitely try Jamie.

At first I trusted what they said about the hair color being safe then I started with a great deal of hair loss which was contributed to my age. Then I started with some irritation after coloring and then severe pain and blistering which I had to apply ice packs to my head for 4 days before it subsided. I asked to see the ingredients and I was sent the product leaflets for each item used to mix my color. They are definitely not safe and contain multiple ingredients above OSHA approved levels of being toxic and dangerous and contribute to hair loss and severe scalp irritation. I made this known to the manager and she told me she would talk to Aveda and get back to me. it has been 20 weeks since then and she still hasn't gotten back to me. I can only assume Aveda knows its ingredients are toxic and just don't care. In those 20 weeks of being free of Aveda products my hair has filled in bald spots and is growing strong and healthy! Please do not take my word for anything, just stay informed and ask to see the actual ingredient papers enclosed in each item used to mix your color. This was my first experience with lash extensions. After doing much online research, I chose Lashbar primarily because the two owners are also registered nurses, in addition to having great reviews. After a couple of days, I'm still extremely pleased and impressed with the results. My own eyelashes are ridiculously fine and pale, and Stephanie told me that they would not support the weight of the "extreme" type of extensions, so I was prepared for a subtle improvement only, and hoping to possibly build up to more. But guess what? These are fabulous! My lashes look so lush and so real that I don't even need mascara or eyeliner, things I never would have left the house without. An added bonus is the extensions actually make my eyes look more open once again, taking a few years off my appearance. I highly recommend Lashbar. I saw Stephanie, but I'm sure that anyone they employ will do a great job as well. Top notch. read more

My first time going to the Lashbar in Portsmouth and let me start by saying... Tatum. That girl is a truly sweet & talented, lash angel! I never expected a lash lift could be 'relaxing' but she was SO gentle, careful, and thorough. Everything felt soft and comfortable and not aggravating (as some other experiences I have had at other places.) I am more of a 'natural' make up style girl myself, and I am SO happy with my services! I got a lash lift/tint & brow wax/tint and as a dark blonde - it can be difficult to totally nail my tint shade with out looking a little stark. Tatum absolutely nailed it. She cares about your end result and pays attention to all of the details, and I am so grateful to have had such a good experience! I really appreciate her work, 10/10 recommend Tatum, and will certainly be coming back to Lashbar in the future. read more

I love going to Lashbar! I have gotten my eyebrows done and my lashes done for over half a year now. It is always clean and organized there which is so amazing. All of the lash ladies are so kind and customize your lashes to your eye shape as well as how you want it! The brow waxing is super gentle and I got perfect brows from it! At Lashbar they are also very accommodating with peoples schedules and try to make it work! They are also very inclusive with pricing as if you are starting off slow and don't want to pay that much you don't have to. I have never had lash extensions before. I went to lash bar to see Stephanie because someone highly recommended her. I had a full set of classic lashes done and absolutely love them. After a little over a week I did have some issues only on one eye (lashes coming off) and went in to have Stephanie look at them. She fixed them with no questions and was super awesome about giving advice to help their retention period. I have very light lashes that are difficult to work with. I am very happy with the services I have received and highly recommend lash bar to everyone! read more

Lashbar offers so many great services but I recently went in for one of their peels. I saw there instagram stories and posts and decided in the cold months this was the best investment for my skin. I have never been more comfortable and relaxed in the hour I spent with Jodie. The derma globes were a major bonus! The services the lash ladies provide are incredible! Anywhere from extensions to facials, they know what their doing and do it with a smile. They listen to you and your wants and go above and beyond to do that all while keeping your healthy lashes healthy. I recommend friends, family, basically anyone I meet, to Lashbar. There are not enough good things I can say about the staff at Lash Bar. The new space has really taken the whole "lashing experience" to a completely new level. Rachel has been my go to girl for lash extensions. She's always very friendly, listens to my "eyelash esthetic" needs and is extremely meticulous! I get complements all the time on my lashes. I have had lash extensions for almost 2 years and I love going to LashBar. All of the lash girls are highly qualified and talented so even though they work based on a level system (how long they have been doing lashes) a level 4 (the highest level) stylist will always check the work to make sure you don't leave the salon with lashes that aren't perfect. Mistake! My eyelashes literally melted off, looking into a lawsuit. Saw some rude lady named Kimberly Stout, she bragged to have all these credentials, found out she worked for a hair balding company before this. I can never grow eyelashes back again. A small example of many: my fiance and I were planning to exchange gifts, and knowing I'd likely cry while opening mine she held off on applying any eye makeup that could possibly run until after we opened them. She was right - I cried, and the photos still looked great. In fact my makeup looked just as great at the end of the night as it did when she first applied it, thanks to her airbrushing magic and other products she uses to fix everything in place. Other appreciated things: she tucked blotting papers and a two tubes of lip color into my clutch, and left all my girls with a wand of their respective lip colors for touch ups as well. She did some light makeup on my groom that you couldn't notice in person but made our pictures look even better. She took pictures throughout my makeup application to check for anything that would show up funky on camera as we went. And for a nominal fee she'll stick around to touch you up one more time before you head down the aisle, something I especially appreciated since we did a first look and it was tearful. Do yourself a favor and call Joanne - and don't listen to wedding magazine timelines that tell you to wait until 3-6 months beforehand to do it either. She books up super fast.
