It's a shame I have to offer a lukewarm review of my recent rental experience at the Sheraton Avis given the fact I had such a positive experience at the counter. However, I am sitting here scratching my head as to why I had to call the manager to fix the overcharges that were made to my rental after I left a very easy-to-understand note when I returned my vehicle. More on that in a moment... As a Preferred Avis member I wasn't particularly happy that the ease of renting a vehicle wasn't streamlined. I am used to arriving at the airport and through the Avis app, be able to locate my vehicle in the parking lot and just go. Not the case here. Though I reserved my vehicle online, I still had to wait at the counter upon arrival. I had an 8 am reservation, arrived 20 minutes early, and found myself second in line behind someone who had been waiting even earlier. The transaction for each customer was a bit slow (at least 10 minutes), but I did receive an apology for that wait when it was my turn, with the reason being related to the slow computer. The best aspect of the rental experience was the lady at the counter who took care of me. She was very sweet, polite and professional. I was pleasantly surprised how great the rental interaction with her went. I did find out through conversation that there just aren't many cars available at this location. That worked out in my favor as I received a free luxury car upgrade, but it does concern me for future rentals where I might get downgraded because there just aren't enough available. However, here's the big problem I experienced... The attendants here are not checking the returned vehicles. I was promised a full tank of gas when I took my vehicle. Upon getting in the car, I found it 3/4 full. I had no time to waste so I decided to argue the point when I returned. When I returned, I included a note with my key drop-off that they gave me a vehicle that did not have a full tank of gas. I also indicated I filled the vehicle completely with gas despite that. What happened? When I received my invoice, I was shocked that despite the note I left them, they went ahead and charged me for a full tank of gas. Now mind you, I stated on my online reservation that I did not want the fuel option -and- I left a note indicating that I filled the tank completely. So, I had to make a call to the manager and set things right. He was very prompt in fixing the issue but I can't help but wonder what the heck is going on over there that they don't check to see that I returned a vehicle with a full tank -and- they did not properly gauge the fuel level when I took it out. Just seems very sloppy. For that reason, I implore anyone considering renting from this location to immediately walk out to the vehicle to be certain the fuel level is as promised. I would also scrutinize your invoice upon return to be certain you aren't charged for anything you did not want. In my case, they charged me for auto-refilling when I returned a vehicle with a full tank. I hope this location does better in the future for its customers. read more

The worst experience ever! If I could I would give 0 star. Rent a car, only drove few hours the tire popped, and up in the gas station go so many hours until they close and in a rain with kids .. the tow truck came to tow the car away and we trying to get Uber but there isn't any Uber or Lyft anyway because we were no where in the mountain of SC. We were lucky enough some guy drove us to the hotel or we will have to call 911! We had messages from Avis telling us to go to the airport for the a car replacement which was an hour away ! When we got to the hotel it dark already and there still no Uber or anything so we had to stay in the hotel for 1 night. The next day when we got the the airport and the lady at the counter of Avis told us that she can't replace anything for us because there's no contract, so we call customer service (end up on the phone for 2 hours!) while my family still waiting. And they said our contract was Cancelled!!! We couldn't get a replacement!! So I had to rent another car pay and pay more $$. Paid 400 for few hours of rental got Stuck in the middle of nowhere , had to pay for extra rental and extra night of hotel and missed my kid's doctor appointment had to change our work schedule. Everything g was ruined for spring break and all I'm asking is for a some solution such as refund but nobody NO ONE on the phone can help, called so many times either they keep transferring me or they hung me up ! We used this truck for a local move from West long branch to Eatontown NJ. We went to the Quick Chek feet away from the drop off and filled it up with gas. This merchant tried to charge us $6 for gas and $30 to fill it! I tried talking to him but he basically called me a liar. The business is a scam and will try to charge you for extras you didn't incur. They never sent me a final bill, so I'm glad I checked my bank statement. Also, the truck was disgusting and didn't work well (broken handles and ramp.) I would NEVER do business with them again. The main Budget company itself was no help as they themselves couldn't reach the local merchant by phone all day. When asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold four times and no one came back on the line. read more

My family needed a rental for a vacation to Florida in October. I requested a mid sized SUV with low mileage. I picked up a brand new Chevy Traverse SUV. That was a great surprise, we were very happy. The service at Avis was excellent. Also, if you prepay the rental fee you get a very nice savings. I will absolutely return to Avis when I need a rental. There was no crazy up sell at the counter for insurance I didn't need. That was nice as well. read more

I rent from here at least 20 times per year. This is my favorite car rental. The service is great and the cars are always clean and low mileage. You can't beat the price if you're an Avis Rewards member. You can leave your personal vehicle there and you can return your rental 24 hours a day safely. This is by far the best car rental in the area. read more
