My sales coordinator was Rose, she was a joy to work with, as were Tim & Tim, the 2 gentlemen who assisted with the financing. All 3 of them are very personable, customer oriented & know their stuff. All my questions were answered to my satisfaction, everything was thoroughly explained. The monthly payment was a little more than I wanted to pay, but for what I got, it's well worth it. I loved the fact that I didn't need to haggle to get a great price, the price you see on the website is the price that you pay, but keep in mind that's before all taxes, fees, & any extras that you want are added on. For the test drive, I took the car to my mechanic, who checked the car out thoroughly, the car passed with flying colors, with a couple of minor issues that were addressed before I drove off the lot. I can honestly say that in all my years of buying cars, this was the easiest, most pleasant car buying experience that I've ever had. I highly recommend Hertz Schaumburg.

However as we were told by our sales rep they only have 1 guy who does the finances. This causes a huge backup if there is literally anyone else there trying to buy a car. We were there from 9:30am to 2:30pm. While buying a car is a process, it's not a 5 hour process. Esp since there is no haggling involved and we had the car we wanted picked out. By the time we were able to sign our contract we were already in a huge hurry So we had to rush the most important part of the whole thing. We carved out 3 hours, were fine with 4, then started to get annoyed and anxious at 5 We also noticed an interior light wasn't working during our test drive. The sales rep mentioned they would have someone swap it out but by the time we left it was still out. Either they forgot, or somehow in 5 hours had no time to swap out an interior lightbulb. They did end up changing it a few days later though We would defiantly go back and recommend to friends. Just make sure to bring lunch haha

Upon entering, only one employee was there to take care of 4 or 5 clients and was completely overwhelmed. We and another customer were told that there were two trucks available; one 15 miles away and one with the keys stuck in the drop box. My dad being the tool man that he is, grabbed a crow bar out of his car and jimmied the key box open so that we could get a truck. The other customer, poor guy, argued with the employee (he too had made a reservation days before) just so that he could get the additional mileage covered by Budget, and headed on his way to another town. When we finally got our keys, checked out the outside of the vehicle and hopped into the truck, we were an hour and a half behind schedule. After returning the truck, and finding out there was no mileage reported on the receipt and filling the gas tank up to where it was when we got the truck (3/4 full) we found out that we were charged for an additional 40 miles and a gas charge for $40 and $11 to fill it up completely. Still waiting to get my refund.

Received car with a nonfunctional trunk so back in line for another rental. Finally received a vehicle. At drop off (Schaumburg) I was charged a fuel charge even though the tank was FULL. The guy at the desk said he cannot reverse fuel charge because of "outdated system."

The manager is absolutely horrible -- rude, disrespectful, impatient, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. There was not a single moment where I felt like a valued customer. Every question was met with attitude, and the level of hostility was unbelievable. The car itself was filthy, clearly not cleaned before I received it. There were stains, dust, and trash left inside. On top of that, the car had multiple issues malfunctioning, making me question how they are even allowed to rent vehicles in this condition. The fact that they would hand a customer a car like that says everything about how little they care. And when I left an item in the vehicle and tried to retrieve it, the staff and manager acted like I was an inconvenience and made the process way harder than it needed to be. No empathy, no effort, no respect. I will never rent from Hertz again and I strongly recommend that no one else does either. Save yourself the headache, the disrespect, and the unsafe cars. This location is a perfect example of why people avoid Hertz altogether.

So this time, decided to take an uber back and forth from airport, and only rent for a week from the nearest rental agency. So rented a car via Costco travel. The selection of cars is a lot less than at the airport. Was expecting the mileage to be a lot higher on this car, but it wasn't (about 35k miles). Got a malibu as intermediate which we liked. The agent has a lot of discretion of what car to give, so being really nice is expecially important here. I was quoted around $260 for the week (all fees included) which is good. I returned right on time, with the gas full (actually filled it up near a gas station 2 miles away since I had time). I told the return agent that I had filled up, and that the car was great during the drive. He then gave me my receipt and I was on my way. Later, I realized the amount was $20 higher than the quote (which sometimes happens). But when i grabbed the detailed receipt from the website, it stated that I had returned it with 14.8 gallons out of 15.0 (which is impossible to gauge at that level)...so their argument must be that it is impossible to return it full, since I must have driven it here and that takes gas. Because I didn't fill up, it automatically kicked in the penalty of 2 gallon minimum (at $9.90 per gallon). I don't know then how one can return it 'FULL' unless you bring a gas canister with you OR buy their pre-fill option (which is the point). It's a scam....shame on you, Budget! Yes, I should have noticed the discrepancy right away and confronted the guy, but didn't notice until I got home. And if you ever been on a phone call with a car agency, it's an extremely unpleasant experience. Going through their website, it's difficult to figure out how to send a message to Budget to get this rectified, and can't go back to the location. Even if I did, I always feel worried that the agent will suddenly find a problem with the car returned (dings and what not), if I make a big fuss. It might just be 20 bucks that I have to chalk up to experience learned (unfortunately I already rented a prepaid week with Budget for later this summer, but that's from an airport location so this won't happen there).
