So we have done business with this branch many times and rented a full size SUV that wasn't full when we left the lot. So we were told to fill it back to the 3/4 level and we did. I am a 4 time customer with Avis I would say that on 1 out of 4 occasions I have been happy with my rental experience. My recent experience I was deployed with Red Cross for a local disaster. Red Cross was renting multiple cars from Memphis and Nashville Tennessee airports. We had to drive 2-4 hours to a remote location where we needed the cars to travel to connect with people whose homes were destroyed from a tornado. On the way to this location, I noticed my tire had low pressure. I filled the tires with air and was able to make it to the site, but the tire had a nail in it and was slowly losing air. My only recourse was to call roadside and have them travel 35 minutes to get to the car to change it to the donut. I called customer service with Avis and they assured me that plenty of cars were available to rent at the nearest Avis rental 30 minutes away. All I needed to do was exchange the car. I got up early to drive the car to Jackson and made it there close to 8 am only to find a less than helpful service associate and no potential cars current or future. I spent and Red Cross staff spent hours on the phone and time waiting for Avis to take care of this problem. Eventually someone did come two days later to tow the car away. Seriously all you needed to do was pay for a tire locally and we would have been glad to have it repaired or replaced. read more

called to make sure they had a convertible- rented it through the website after calling to confirm availability. They claimed they had one, they did not have one. They had a coupe- claimed it was more expensive and offered no discounted rate... we should have left it right there and went elsewhere. The car had trash in it from the last person, partial Vaseline container and food wrappers in it. It was not full of gas....the inside of all the glass was disgusting.... Tonia had medical appointments and we didn't want to be without a vehicle while she was at the dr appointments that encompassed two Days... we called to complain... over an hour on the phone and they offered a discount for our inconvenience..... Then? We cleaned the nasty mess out... filled it up... returned it... I am not a racists.... Two people were inside and another customer when we took the car back.. I needed a washroom... the employee( in full mask and latex glove- as if people were disgusting to her) stopped me- can I help you? I smiled and said- I need the washroom... two of them( bathrooms) steps from me.. she states- they are out of order... You can't and won't convince me that both washrooms are out of order.. She isn't waiting until the end of the day to use the washroom... I sincerely would like to believe that I was not stopped from using the washroom based on my skin color..... I'll Never know... Please...do not rent a vehicle here..... By the way... she did put her latex gloves back on and ran out to throughly check our car back in..... along with verifying we filled it up.... Then she came back inside and used hand sanitizer on her latex glove, just to handle paperwork... I am beyond disgusted with Avis... I hope they aren't all run like this one.... From Wednesday to Saturday was just about $500 for a mustang coupe... we would have opted for the Prius for our needs when they lied to us about the convertible... except it had four flat tires..... Look elsewhere Don't rent here... Maybe it would have been a better experience had we been a different race of people???? Maybe then I could have at least used the washroom.. I will NEVER book a car with Avis ever again. I went to pick up a car I had reserved and could not pay for the car because AVIS DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS WITH THE CHIP. This is 2022. What major companies do not accept credit cards with a chip now? Additionally, when I called my credit card company thinking something was wrong on my end, they asked the gentleman at the counter to manually enter the card number. He said he could not. This guy even suggested I go to Enterprise down the street. Way to go Avis employee, working on behalf of the competition. So guess what?! I went to Enterprise and their friendly welcoming faces had me in a rental within 15 minutes AND they take credit cards with chips. Don't waste your time with the Avis location in Jackson, TN. Go straight to Enterprise down the street. read more

We reserved a car that we planned to drive out of state. Our car had broken down and I am Active Duty Military and on orders. I paid and they told me that I could pick up my car in the next hour. I grabbed an Uber and when I showed up and they realized I was planning on driving the Vehicle out of state. They refused to rent me a car stating "they had a shortage of cars and could only rent to local in state drivers" so basically I paid and then I was stuck with no Vehicle. She gave me the number to call and get my money back(which takes 24-48 hours). But the inconvenience and the money I had to pay was terrible customer service!! I would give this No stars if I could!! read more

Very poor customer service. Tara, specifically will go out of her way to be rude. Also, they will try to charge you more for every possible transaction. Never rent from here. Use Enterprise Car Rental. I've used Avis at other locations at normally it is ok. Jackson, TN is awful. Do not rent here. You will be sorry if you do. read more

They are by far the worse Avis location in the world, I travel with them a lot and love Avis in other areas but her at this location I received the worse customer service, from the rude lady that work there to the dirty car they gave me. I will never return to this location until they terminate all those ignorant employees and get some quality people there. read more

Poor customer service skills! I made a reservation the day before for a full size car. When I got there to pick up the rental there was an issue with my debit card that was in my husband's name not to mention they only had compact cars available. I understand policy so I called my husband to come down to do the rental and the compact car was acceptable. In the twenty minutes it took him to get there the rental agent rented out all the cars with me waiting right in front of her!!! I called customer service to complain about the poor service and she said she would cancel my rental at no charge to me. Really??!!! Cancel what? They had NO CARS! I didn't even get an apology. Rates are low but I would pay more for better service. Avis has lost a customer and I would refer no one, not even people I don't like to them. Even they deserve better customer service than I received today! read more

I would not rent from here again. They didn't check the general safety of the car before giving it to me. I got 10 miles away from the location and the tire light came on. I pulled over, saw that the tire was nearly flat, and put air in the tire (I would have taken it right back to the Avis location, but they closed at NOON...also ridiculous). About 20 more miles down the road, the tire went flat again. I called Avis for roadside assistance at 3pm. They said they would call someone immediately and gave me the towing company that would be coming to change my tire. I received a text message from a completely different company an hour and a half later JUST to tell me that they would be there in ANOTHER hour. It is now 2 hours later and I am still on the side of the road for a car that should have been checked before I left the lot. The car was also not very clean, and I could never get anyone on the phone to book the reservation in the first place. I had go to the location to book the car because they never, EVER answer the phone. read more
