I did not recall any glass damage when I returned the rental car. I asked for evidence and was sent photos that included the odometer when the car was taken into the shop and a copy of the work order. Fortunately, I had taken a photo of the odometer when I returned the car. The odometer photo I was sent had 173 more miles and the work order was submitted 13 days after I returned the car! The damage I was being charged for was not caused by me! Thank goodness I had the photo of the odometer, as ultimately the burden of proof fell upon me. I do not recommend renting from Budget or Avis, as they are the same company.

Where do I even begin to describe the nightmare the past 48 hours have been with Budget Rent-A-Car?…read moreI made a reservation through Southwest Airlines for a rental through Budget to be picked up at the Missoula airport. Once I landed after a delayed flight on United, I went to the counter to get my car. After hauling my skis and luggage out to the car only to find out that the trunk was broken and does not open. Also, I had paid extra to book a midsize car and was given this tiny Mitsubishi which they say is a midsize. A midsize car to me is something like a Nissan Murano or Ford Escape. Hauled everything back inside to the counter agent and the only car left was a minivan, but I was already running late to my meeting so I took it and left. After a long day of work I got to my hotel parked the car and went to sleep. Less than eight hours later I woke up and went out to the car and it did not start. The security guard at the hotel tried jumping the car and it was not a dead battery, the car would just not turn over. I called Budget's roadside assistance, after giving all my information to a lady and being on the phone with her for over 30 minutes the call disconnected and she never called back. I re-dialed the 1-800 number and was matched with a new agent. She could not see any of the prior information that I had given so I was back to ground zero. Keep in mind it's -10° outside and I'm literally freezing in my work clothes running late to a meeting that I flew cross country to come too. The lady on the phone could not find any information under my name, phone number, address, or reservation number. How is that? She asked me to find the Vin number on the car, after I told her that the windshield was covered in over an inch of ice and snow and I could not see it she informed me that she could not help me until it was found. Then she told me to check the inside door because Budget places a sticker on the door that has the Vin number. Someone at Budget put another sticker over half the Vin number so I could only read her half. She informed me again that they could not send help until I gave her the Vin number. How do they not know their own inventory of cars? Because I was frozen and could not wait any longer I ordered an Uber to come pick me up at my own personal expense. When the Uber got there I asked him to help me locate the Vin number and he was nice enough to chip away enough snow and ice in the freezing cold to be able to read the full Vin number to the agent. Then she proceeds to ask me what year, color, make, and model of the car is. Are you serious? It was a brown minivan, I have no idea what year it was made. Do you not have any of this information? How come it takes 20 minutes to get a car and they ask everything except my blood type, but you don't even know what kind of car you gave me. Freezing, I got in the Uber. As we pulled away she tells me she now needs the license plate to send a truck. Are you kidding me? We drove back around to the car and gave her the license plate number. She told me to leave the keys in the car, unlocked, which makes me so nervous with liability, but I just did what she said at this point. Over an hour on the phone trying to get this figured out while standing in the freezing cold and her only comment was "must be different than living in Arizona." I then asked if she had informed the local, Great Falls, Budget office of the incident and that I would need a car and she told me that it would make more sense for me just to deal with it because she would have to call 100 different numbers to get through. Even the Uber driver was laughing at that intelligence level of this agent. I finally arrived at the Great Falls location, on my own dime from Uber. The Great Falls agent had no idea what had gone on and tried to help me as much as possible. She was able to switch me into a car and get me on my way. I walked out to the car, which was filled with fast food wrappers, used toothpicks, random change, and an empty tank of gas. Are you freaking kidding me? I thought all cars going back to the airport had to be filled with gas. And do you not clean the cars before you give them to guests? I was already an hour and a half late for my meeting so I just said screw it and drove away. I went and filled up the car with gas myself, $50+ dollars later and I was finally on my way. This was hands-down one of the worst experiences I have ever dealt with, with any type of company, rental car or not. I rent cars almost every single week and I will never rent with Budget again!

Still tinking, why the rental is not registered for automatic toll payment??? Anywa y, about 6weeks later got the VMS letter; a week later Teh Toll Roads send me also a letter stating to pay 6.48 in 4 weeks or 106.48 after that. Now the question I still have is: did the VMS paid the 6.48 toll charge or I still need to pay it. So, have to call them tomorrow. Such a nasty case, where budget customers can be trapped to. Not taking budget cars anymore. Can someone inform if competition use same tricks to charge customers????

They AUTO deduct money from your account. I rented a car in San Diego and received a $37.50 ticket for being 10 min over on the meter.... bad on me. I get a notice from VMS that I owe them $50. I figured the $50 would cover the ticket and the rest would go to VMS for their process. Wrong. They charged $50 just to act as the middle man between Budget and the City of San Diego. I guess I ok'd this service when I rented the car. Must of been in the fine print. A few weeks later I get a letter from the City of San Diego saying I still owe them for the ticket. So the grand total of the ticket was $50 VMS B.S. fee + $37.50 ticket + $3.00 convenience fee = $90.50 for being 10 minutes late on the meter.

Five-star service…read more This is a gritty place. So don't come here if you're not used to dealing with scrap yards. I was on my way south, and noticed my parking brake kept needing the lock disengaged to put the car into drive (pushing an extra button, a two-handed operation to get the car out of Park). Turns out, the brake light switch had failed: it's the little switch above the brake, that senses the foot lever being pushed. It actuates the brake lights too, so I had had no brake light the whole time. Since the car was sitting at a church, I had the local pastor drop me off, around noon, after Autozone/Napa/carquest all said the part wasn't available, and the min price at the desk at Autozone was 36$, after I had initially been quoted 10$ over the phone from the Autozone employee. :( Calling around for a yard, I was referred to Moltzan's. The owner of Moltzan's, over the phone had said no one would be back until two, as they field staff were on lunch, to look for and pull the part. I couldn't wait, couldn't get another ride, so I had the pastor drop me off on his way back. That was about noon. Someone was at the desk within 20 minutes, and he went out and found it. I had given him the old one, a generic autozone replacement that failed probably after 40k miles. It took him a good 20 minutes out there too, to find the matching part. It was an OEM this time, and for $10 - the same Autozone misquoted me - perfect.

Steve did it for me and let me pay him on my following payday. That was such a big help for me. On the second occasion, I needed a belt for my car. It kept overheating. I took it to Midas and they quoted me $480 and a full day with my car. I took the car to Moltzans at 4 pm and left it and they called me by noon the next day and it only cost me $160!! I was SO relieved. I won't take my car anywhere else. They're good, experienced mechanics. They're honest and compassionate. I recommend them to anyone in Great Falls needing a mechanic. Thanks Steve and everyone at Moltzans!!
