I picked up a rental that was not only filthy dirty but I smelled like someone spent the night inside it & was smoking marijuana or stink weed. At first I though it was skunk but it got worse & I realized it was the smell of drugs. Also I was given a car with no gas, the red light was on on the dash & I was lucky to make it to the gas station. I returned it & refused another car as I had put $25.00 worth of gas & I could not drive the car. The Assistant & Branch Managers are nothing but paper pushers & pass the buck. I had to complain to State Farm & Enterprise but I do not know if I will ever see my $25.00 in gas. How can a legitimate business send out cars that lack cleanliness & gas to paying customers? In addition, how can they require that we sign a contract & take a $50.00 deposit for a nasty car?

On Tuesday morning I received a phone call that the type of vehicle I reserved was not available for a morning pickup but would be on site by early afternoon. I rearranged my obligations to accommodate this change in timing-but received no communication from the location throughout the day. I contacted them at 4pm to check on the status and the first gentleman I spoke to first told me they were hopeful a vehicle would be there by 6pm and then told me a vehicle would be available tomorrow. When I then asked who else I could speak to as this experience was unacceptable the manager then informed me no cars are available until Thursday. I cannot fathom how a company would allow you to make a reservation for something that is not available. Beyond that to basically be told sorry, sucks to be you we have no options for you and we can't help you is deplorable. I can tell you that based on this experience I will never be renting from enterprise again and beyond that will be sharing the same advice with my friends, families, colleagues and even enemies because I would not wish this experience on anyone.

They are absolutely useless, nothing I was promised was given; not the time, comparable car, or even a clean car. The Hertz Corporation should clean house and decide to actually try and operate an ethical and professional business. I am glad I work at a very large company that uses Hertz all the time because I will make sure they drop them and that none of my friends or acquaintances ever use them again. I am going to post this review on every ratings site and call customer service until Hertz decides to take some sort of accountability for the awful service they offer. My car has been hit twice in the past year and required a rental while body work could be done at Accurate Auto Body. I went through Hertz because it is located within a couple miles of the shop. During the summer I was hit and I scheduled a time for them to pick me up at the shop and called again the morning of to confirm. 40 minutes after they were scheduled to arrive they showed up. To their credit they apologized and gave me a "fully loaded" car at no extra cost. To their discredit the "fully loaded" Chevy didn't even have all the standard features my base model Civic has. I was also 45 minutes late to work because of their incompetence and a slightly better car doesn't help that very much. Fast forward to the winter- my car was hit again while parked on the street. I scheduled a pickup through Hertz . When I called, I was transferred 3 different times, I had to tell each person all of my information policy numbers license numbers names insurance, and then I was transferred to another person who seemed to have no idea why I was transferred to them and I had to retell them. After a 20 minute call I was done. 3 weeks later I got a call from Hertz asking if I was still interested in renting a car from them because they had no record of me calling before. I had the prior call confirmation number and after I had told them all of my information for the 4th time, they were able to find the reservation in their system. At this point I should have been prepared for utter incompetence but I tried to stay positive. I called to confirm 2 days before my pickup just in case and they said everything is ready and I would receive a comparable car but I should call the day of to "remind them". Can they not schedule it themselves?? The morning of I called an hour before and told them that I would be at the shop between 9:10am and 9:20am. They showed up at 9:45am after 2 calls from the auto body shop and myself. I had waited outside for 25 minutes (it was -2 degrees outside and windy). The same girl showed up that was late last time in a dirty, snow, and ice covered Mazda. She drove me back to the shop while never apologizing for being late instead she kept trying to make small talk. At the Hertz location I asked again to confirm that I would be receiving a comparable car and they said "yes, definitely". I asked if it had Bluetooth, Pandora, or a rearview camera, they said, "No but it has Skyactive technology." This would be comical if it was happening on TV but they were serious... How does having a different transmission and drivetrain make up for all the missing features they originally promised? How they can work for a car rental company and have no idea what is in their cars or what it means amazes me. It turns out the dirty Mazda she showed up in was the one they were giving me. It had ice and snow on the windows, sticky stuff all over the console and the cup holders. The steering wheel had food on it and the car had a quarter tank of gas. So at this point I was over an hour late for work and now had to go fill the tank.

    This Hertz. WHAT is happening?!…read more Pros: -The staff are polite. -I rented a nice, clean car. Cons: -The staff are unbelievably slow. -It took forever to check out a car. -Sometimes they can be so polite it comes off as condescending. -The staff are SO SLOW. -They work really well with my insurance company. -Did I mention they're slow? When I returned my car, the clerk went to go look at the car and the manager waited inside. Even the manager thought she was slow and went to go find her.

I could go into all of the details but after doing this to numerous 'customer service' agents, I'm worn out so I'll just give the highlights...the first car they provided had bald tires. So bald you could see the wear indicators. Our trip was 2,400 miles round trip through the mountains, not happening. Our exchange had a key fob that stopped working 800 miles in which means you have to use the key to open the doors which sets the alarm off until you start the car by pressing the fob against the start button. This is alot of fun for a week long trip and yes, we replaced the batteries. The wipers were also useless but we were overlooking that. Contacted roadside assistance who found (yet another) exchange but since the only location near our destination is a franchise, they wanted a $300-$400 hold ON TOP OF the $200 hold we already placed. I know they're going to respond to this with an apology but we already gave their 'unresolved issues' department a chance to help us out & that's all we got from them. Oh sorry, they gave us enough points for a free day but since this nightmare was prepaid, it's useless as we'll NEVER use them again.
