I've…read morealso used Budget before and never had major issues, but this last experience was outright dishonest. I rented a car for one day and purchased full coverage for peace of mind. The prepaid total was $92 and it clearly showed that everything was included. When I picked up the car at Miami Airport, I specifically asked if anything else needed to be paid and whether everything was okay. I was assured it was all set. I was in a rush, and the agent at the counter clearly noticed that. He handed me multiple pages to sign. I did check what I could, but I didn't have time to review every single sheet in detail. When I returned the car the next day, Budget charged me an additional $101. Only after that I found out they had added extra services without my clear consent: extra gas service option, supplemental liability insurance, extended roadside assistance, etc. I contacted customer support. They offered sympathy, but refused to refund anything and told me it was "company policy." So the only thing I can do now is warn others: don't use Budget. Choose a company that is transparent and takes responsibility instead of adding paid options without proper disclosure.

I rented from the Thrifty Car Rental off of Tamiami before and I received an invoice the day of return. With this location, it took about 6 phone calls, 2 voicemails that were never returned, and a rude gentleman later to get them to say they would "take a picture of the skinny invoice" and email to me when originally they had been telling me they could not email me an invoice only corporate could. They stated they could only fax it to me when I had my rental record #. Who has a fax these days?! Nonetheless, when I call them today with my office fax line is when they tell me they can't fax it but will take the picture and email it to me....This could have been done two weeks ago.... Please remember that when you step up to the counter. With that side note being said I have had a great experience with this Hertz location. We had prepaid for an suv and when we got here only a compact car was left. They told us they had an suv coming back and that they would call or to stop by and we could swap it out. Stopped by early the next day and they had the suv ready to swap out. While some people would be upset by this mix up you must understand my first statement. The staff at these locations are doing the best they can for their customers.

When I arrived to pick up the car, I was told they didn't have it available. No call, no email, no warning -- nothing. This completely defeated the purpose of my reservation and put me in a bad situation last minute. If a company knows they can't honor a reservation, the bare minimum is to notify the customer ahead of time so they can make other arrangements. Very disappointing experience and poor communication. I would not rely on them if you actually need the vehicle you reserve.

The price of the rental was very fair at $19.00 per day for a sub compact car. BUT... I ended up…read morepaying more for the gas than then actual rental price because there were no gas stations anywhere on my way to the airport and I was running late for my flight. I know... I know. My fault for not filling up the gas tank. But COME ON. They charged me $10 per gallon which came out to a $70.00 penalty fee just for gas! That's ridiculous! Lesson learned? Don't ever bring a Dollar Rental car back without a full tank!
