We rented a car today and the lady work at front desk had very bad attitude, she declined our own car insurance, we told her another rental car company always accepted our personal insurance but she said Avis doesn't accept third party insurance. Finally we found out she was lied to us, Avis is accept personal insurance. We are very disappointed about Avis service and will never rent any car from Avis again. Do not use this service They were like a head w no body The person over the phone messed up our reservation so when we went in to pick up the car the gal behind the desk was having a hard time had to FaceTime w supervisor who was not helpful at all recommended us canceling our reservation but couldn't honor our original quote almost doubled the cost... The good...dropping the car off at the Avis in Denver. The service was much better and they seemed to car about the fact that the car we were given in Minneapolis had a flat tire the whole time. They gave us 50 dollars off for the inconvenience, and trust me it was a huge inconvenience to our vacation to have to continuously fill the tire. The Bad....the Avis at the airport in Minneapolis was horrible!! I mean absolutely horrible. The guy have us the letter&number to find our car. Told us the type of car. When we got to it, it wasn't the right car...we walked around the WHOLE parking garage looking for th car he assigned to us...couldn't find it and good look getting any help. They were so short staffed and then after walking around everywhere, which I have a lung diease and have no business walking around like that, we had to get back in another line and wait. Not sure if Avis is the company we will continue to use after the horrible service in Minneapolis. I prepaid for a rental on July 2nd at 9am and the BEST part is the staff who worked at this place were there BUT they didn't have the keys to the office to issue out car rental pick up for customers! First problem, the person who had the key wasn't there. 2nd problem, when I asked when will the person show up, they all responded - "we don't know"‍ 3rd problem (no back up plan!), they told me the person who has the key is out on vacation for the 4th of July...4th problem- I asked for a refund bcuz it was 10am and nobody has showed up with the key and they replied, "Prepaid is not refundable"...I said, that it should be refundable when you don't have my car ready for pick up at 9am and it's 10am...the problem is on your company NOT me (the customer!)...they apologize and were polite but they couldn't do anything and this failure is NOT on staff but on their management team! Poor operations and I will NEVER rent from this place again. As a result, I went to another car rental place that day! I plan to call them to get a refund. read more

I go in , in the morning to pick up the car I had reserved lady comes out and says are you here for a pick up I said yes she said sorry we have no cars here. I asked her what do you mean I have a car reserved. All while walking 2 people to the same car I had reserved. I told her that thats the same exact car I had reserved so you guys just give peoples reserved cars away? She said it has a donut I wouldn't want to send u out with that. I'm extremely mad at the point my wife calls the one on Pelandale they said they have some available so we take that drive bout 17 mins out we make it there and I wait in line and they guy says they only do reservations. I told them I had one for the air port but they have no cars. Dude was not trying to hear me out. I call the customer service and complain let them know what's going on and all they can do is say sorry nothing they can do. I paid a lot of money for a trip and I couldn't make it because Avis had no cars to fulfill my reservation. Do not rely on Avis this company does not care about you or your plans. If you are late with the car u get that late fee but if you show up for a car and they have nun it's too bad for you. They did nothing for me. They didn't even try and say hey let's fix this let us take care of u in any way. I legit don't recommend this place. Don't waist your time or money. Reserved a car to go to Disneyland. Office opened at 7:30 wanted to pick up asap to drive to Anaheim. After arriving at office, there were already a line of customers. Office was not open at 7:30 am in fact no one showed up until after 8:10 am. When the associate did show up she said "I'm sorry we had a no show this morning". The associate was not able to start computers for retrieving information. She stated "computers are not working for me and there is nothing I can do until the manager gets here". The manager Candice Stacy didn't show up until 8:35. I was very annoyed by this time, and did say this is "very unprofessional" to which Candice said "well you can go somewhere else". Jennifer A from the Modesto Ca Avis location has contacted me via text and phone call threatening to take legal action against me for a rental agreement that I did not sign for or authorize. Jennifer was extremely rude in tone and condescending. I will be contacting the Modesto location on their next business day to discuss with management, as Jennifer refused to provide her superiors contact information after I repeatedly inquired. I had to text Jennifer demanding her to stop contacting me after she sent a text accusing me of vehicle theft. I was unknowingly listed as an emergency contact by the renter of the vehicle and they have refused to return the car in question. I explained several times that I would pass along her demands to the renter, but Jennifer insisted that I was also in possession of the vehicle and would be prosecuted once she turned over my information to the district attorney. From my previous experience anyone can be listed as an emergency contact and should not be harassed, accused of criminal activity, and threatened with legal action. While I understand Jennifer was set out to execute the duties of her position she was extremely unprofessional and kirt Jennifer's accusatory statements were unwarranted and unnecessary. I am appalled and displeased with the customer service and "scare tactics" displayed by this Avis employee. read more

I used to be a faithful, long time AVIS customer. I have rented from them many times over the years. For DECADES, even when their competitors were less expensive or more conveniently located. That all ended today. AVIS charged me almost twice what my one-day rental was quoted by slapping me with an hourly rate after my day rental went over by 10 minutes. First of all, I picked my car up early - by an hour and a half. When I called in to arrange this, it was no problem. No mention of changing the terms of the rental or anything like that. I was upgraded to an SUV, which I thought was cool, like the AVIS I remembered. Once the paperwork was done, my agreement still showed the original return time, and it was never explained to me that my return time was now earlier as a result of picking the car up early, in fact my paperwork showed my early pick up time, and my original return time. So I show up the following day to return the car 10 minutes after the kiosk closed. I used the return drop-box and figured everything was okay. I know from experience that AVIS routinely places a hold on your CC for an amount greater than the expected charge for the rental so I didn't blink at the original charge that appeared right after I picked the car up. However, today (5 days later)it posted for that exact same amount. I thought that was strange so I called the branch to see what was going on. I was told that because I had returned the car late, I had gone on their hourly rate for the extra time beyond the agreed rental time of one day. Okay, then I asked why the amount I was charged was exactly the amount placed on hold right after I picked the car up. I mean, were they psychic? How did they know I would be an hour and a half late? I asked the clerk this and he put me on hold for a second. He came back on the line and asked me if I had picked the car up early. I said "yes, I did" and he said "Oh, that explains it." Apparently my first hour and a half of the rental were at an hourly rate (I was never told this) and then the daily rate took over until I returned it. What a crock! I'm never going back to AVIS I don't care if I have to walk 5 miles to go to a competitor. Bottom Line: I should have been informed upon calling to pick up the car early that additional charges and/or a modified return time would result. I should also have been informed at the time of pickup that either I was going to be on an hourly rate or that my return time would be an hour and a half early. Even failing those two items, my paperwork should have been changed to reflect the earlier return time or the extra charges. Sorry for the long-winded post, as you can tell these people have me steamed. I'm going to make a formal request that the association that I am a member of ceases to do business with AVIS. As a single mom times can be rough! It was my daughter's 12th birthday and we had weekend plans for Monterey when my car decided to not cooperate I was beyond stressed out and our hotel room was paid for and it was too late to cancel and I had no other choice but to rent a car. I wanted to make my daughter's birthday extra special but cutting into our funds to rent a car was not part of the plan. Candice,not knowing my situation, upgraded our rental to a mustang convertible so my daughter could celebrate her birthday in style along the Monterey coast! BEWARE RENTING FROM AVIS AT THE MODESTO, CA AIRPORT: Just returned a Van we rented from this franchise. At rental the employees did not offer or suggest to do a walk around. My husband noted a very small, pea size dent in the back passenger wheel well, and called to the employees attention. This employee did not document the damage, She was too busy to come out and look at the issue, said it would not be a problem at turn in because she would make sure it was documented....well as I state, she did not... At turn in, we were told it had a 'Big, huge dent in the back passenger side wheel well' Sound familiar?? Yep, we are being held liable for another persons damage. read more

For Candace at Budget Rental Thank you and here is my great experience Originally, I was going to leave town for Medford on Monday, but on a whim decided to leave on a Sunday. I read some Yelp reviews and wasn't real sure about this place. However, I called at 9AM and was in a Ford C-Max by 12. Customer service was fantastic: courteous and efficient. The C-Max is a peppy, roomy, and accommodating vessel! Before I left I had the huge navigation screen set for Oregon and my Bluetooth. Everything worked beautifully except I never did quite learn how to lock it without the alarm going off. Some other cool features of the Cmax were the heated seats (which help me on long drives) the cool battery counter that lets you know when your all electric, and the downhill helper. Obviously, I don't know the real term. That thing was awesome! On a 6% grade I could set my speed and it would stay there without me braking. Anyway, great car, great customer service and I would use them again! Happy Travels! read more
