I just want to start off by saying this is the BEST rental spot I have ever rented from. And I'm not being dramatic here- I use to work a far job where I had to rent vehicles to get around and other company's were always sketchy and rude... or something always negative had to happen(like over charging.) But not with AVIS. A year ago, I decided to start a new job with Uber and I was making reservations with different rental company's that just didn't work out or the expense was just way to high and they didn't care. I luckily found this company (Avis) and all the employees are always so nice, helpful and in a good mood. They move things along rapidly, so your not waiting long and even have available appointments quick! They explain everything in full details and one thing I love most is that there rates are very decent for good quality cars! You will not regret renting from Avis, they surely do everything they can to please there customers and ACTUALLY care about the people that come through. I rented a car because I needed to car shop over the weekend, and since it's going to be raining all week, I figured I would rent it for the week, in case I didn't find a car to buy. Well, thankfully I found one. I called Budget and asked if I return early, can I get a refund and they said no. I also asked if I can at LEAST get a refund for the insurance because I wasn't charged for that yet at the counter. The guy at the counter said I would be charged upon my return for the insurance. I'm extremely disappointed at the customer service. I asked if there is anything they can do and they said no. At least I should be refunded for the uncharged money for insurance that I haven't even paid yet. I'm so frustrated and will never rent from them again. So now, I have to keep this rental when I don't need it. read more

I would avoid this location at all cost! Employees are rude and the place does not have accommodating vibes. We rented a car from there and car stinks like someone just smoke inside a car. We were supposed to rent a midsize SUV and they were trying to rent a truck at first because that was the only car it was available. If you don't have the car you promised on the web, don't make it available to reserve the car!!! Then they offer the stunk car with full of Tobacco smell or weed I don't know what. Rented a 26 foot box truck on August 16, 2023. When I returned the truck the same day at 4 PM I was told that they were going to tow my car since they have no customer parking. I have another reservation for tomorrow and was told by Valerie that there is no customer parking on the premises and if I do so it will be towed immediately. They do have two smaller signs on the way out of the parking lot stating no customer parking but no mention of it anywhere when you come into the building or into the property which is very misleading. By the way, I've been renting vehicles there for 20 years and have always parked in the lot. Extremely disappointed, especially with Valerie's attitude explaining it. I've asked to speak to the manager Raul three times, and they also refused to have him call me or connect me to him. read more

Great People; Great Service I rented a truck from the Budget Truck Rental in Hawthorne, CA and had a wonderful experience. I had a number of complications arise related to my rental and the team at this Budget Truck Rental office was very knowledgable and supportive in working through these complications. My driver license had recently expired so I brought my expired license and a print out of the temporary license I received when I renewed it. Since this documented had been printed on my home computer, they were unable to accept it to issue my rental. They were polite in indicating that this was simply the corporate policy that they were required to enforce and they directed me to a nearby DMV kiosk to print out an official copy of the temporary license. When I returned with an official temporary license, they completed the rental process for my 16' truck rental. When I turned to leave I noticed that the bed of the truck was not as high as I was expecting. When I placed the initial reservation online, I called Budget's customer service number to determine which trucks were "dock height" since I would be having my items loaded from a dock. They assured me that both the 16' and 26' trucks. Unfortunately this information was incorrect. The team at this Budget Truck Rental helped me to swap my reservation over to a 26' truck so that I would be able to roll these items directly from the dock onto the truck. Overall this was a rather stressful set of circumstances, but this was entirely due to factors that were outside of the team at the Hawthorne Budget Truck Rental's control. They did their best to work with me to resolve these issues and the rest of my move went smoothly. I greatly appreciated their positive attitude and collaborative mentality. read more

I had a good experience here after having a horrible experience with U-Haul the day before my move. I was panicked because U-Haul told me the day before my move that nothing I reserved would be available. I called Budget, and they were very nice and helpful. I drove over to their location because I was so stressed and wanted to figure it all out in person. They stayed past their closing time to help me get my reservation figured out and helped me pick the right size truck for my needs. The supplies at the store (boxes, etc.) weren't very expensive so I bought them there. They gave me a very good price on the truck and guaranteed availability. The next morning I was a little late picking up the truck, but they didn't mind and were very understanding. Did not try to up charge me unlike the Torrance location! I originally booked with Torrance and they were out of the car I had originally chosen. instead of Torrance, honoring the reservation and just giving me a different size vehicle . they tried to charge me more for a different vehicle. So I decided to try my luck at this location. The employees were much nicer and very understanding. They told me the car options that they had available and didn't charge me for the next class because they didn't have the economic one I had made the reservation for. Called the number and spoke to a guy who assured me that the vehicle I had requested would be available upon talking to him he took my payment I paid they took my money 431.00 and some change and I had a reservation so I Uber there with my email and copy of reservation and once I get to the counter they say they can't rent the car to me because of it being a luxury but I asked the guy on the phone and he said as long as my payment went through there would be no problem I asked multiple times and of course it didn't work so then they said nothing they can do and I had to call to cancel my reservation since I was denied and then had to wait several business days to get my money back and on top of it they wanted to charge me a fee for canceling when I wasn't approved but I had a reservation number and my money was taken unbelievable terrible never again go to enterprise or Hertz I'd give 0 stars if I could and while waiting in line there were 2 other couples who had the same thing happen so unbelievable they need to get on the same page 0 stars read more

Ordered a standard SUV two weeks in advance. Called the day before to check it was there. Arrived on the day with my bags ready go.... Was given a small suv without any explanation. I said that I ordered a standard suv and Stephanie shrugged and said that's all they had. I told them I wanted what I paid for and that my bags wouldn't fit in the car they offered. Again..."nothing I can do". With a carload of kids and bags ready to go on a trip, i understandable got upset. Only then did Stephanie say she would "transfer the renovation to another" Buget Avis. I then had to drive half an hour to the other Budget Avis. By the time we got to our hotel it was 10pm. DO NOT rent from this location or you will be sorry. To start off you need look no further than this location for your next car rental. I planned a very short notice vacation in June 2022 and it all hinged on the rental of a vehicle within a few days. Thought it was impossible just coming out of the Covid era until I was referred to Jonathan who honored my instant request with ease. I explained to him my immediate need and he went above and beyond the call of duty to not only easily confirm my reservation but open my eyes to the type of vehicle that would meet my long distance needs. Never thought I'd be going long distance in a Prius Hybrid but was the perfect choice for my road-trip. I had incredible fuel efficiency with plenty of storage and full time air conditioning across the deserts and zero issues. Upon return of the vehicle Valerie immediately assisted me with a personal touch and had me on my way with receipt in hand !!!!. They ddin't have a vehicle available in the size we had reserved, so they gave us a free upgrade to a larger sized vehicle. That's how you take care of customers! READ THE FINE PRINT OR AVIS WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!! I do not write Yelp reviews often although today seemed to merit one. Read the fine print, seriously, read it all. The staff was super nice and talkative assured me that I would pay $141 for a 6-hour rental as we were going through the paperwork. Admittedly, we were in a rush so I did not read everything to the letter as I usually do. I missed a clause that charged me $293. When I spoke to the original sales person he assured me the rate was incorrect and I should have been charged $141, he sent me through the Avis Budget Group customer service runaround. A week later and I am still being charged $293 for a six-hour car rental after returning the car with a full tank of gas, adding only the minimum insurance, and refusing add-ons. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!! We have never had such a bad experience with any company/people in our life!!! We reserved an 15 passenger van from this company since we were coming from Iowa all the way to Hawthorn, we are a big group so we needed to make sure we had a vehicle that could fit all of us. We even pre paid to ensure we had the van reserved 2 weeks prior. Well we get a call 1 day before we were to get the van & they told us they do not have the vehicle.... We understood & then asked for them to find out if they could at least look for 2 vehicles for us to drive in while we were visits. The gal (Stephanie?) said she would check and call us back in a few minutes (she called at 1pm), we NEVER heard back. We tried calling them back and they never answered. They claimed they left a voicemail l, but we didn't receive it. So we showed up today to see what was going on in hopes that they had some type of transportation set up for us... NOPE. They told us they did not have the van we prepaid for. They didn't even have 2 vehicles for us. Only One car (that smelled like they were smoking in it). There was one guy probable around 40-50 years old that was sooo rude. I'm assuming he's the owner since he was taking no responsibility over the situation. He said that we did the wrong thing by pre Paying for the vehicle. That he would personally never do that. What kind of owner or employee doesn't stand by his own company's rules???!?! That absolutely blew our minds. He basically told us it was our fault for not reading the terms and conditions & that pre paying did not guaranteed us getting the vehicle. This particular Budget location facilitated my move yesterday with ease and dexterity. Previously things had gone quite wrong. First, I thought I was borrowing a friend's boss' truck, but that fell through at the very last minute (a Saturday night). Thus I desperately needed a 15-foot moving truck (or larger) at a moment's notice, on a Sunday. Father's Day, specifically. Few Budgets are open on Sundays, but Manchester was. However, they only had the gigantic trucks, which I neither needed nor wanted to pay for. Nonetheless, we were somewhat desperate, so we made the short haul to the LAX area from Venice. By the time we got there, someone had returned the perfect truck (nearly BRAND new, might I add), and the workers, Chevelle and the manager, saved it for us without a deposit. They also loaned us a broken dolly, which we couldn't use, so we didn't have to pay for it. Truly, it was the best imaginable moving/truck-renting experience. Chevelle even dished out free sympathy and coffee. I recommend that if you are moving to or from the west side, you trek up to Manchester for your truck. read more

Online system reserved my 24ft truck, local location never knew it was reserved. They hit you with fee's everywhere to make money!!! We had reservations for a car at 11am. When we arrived the car was not ready. We waited about 30 minutes for the car. When we got the car it was still dirty and the interior had not been cleaned out. The previous renters contract and personal items were left in the car. We arrived about 30 minutes after we supposed to drop the car off. We were told that because we were late we would be charged for another hour. We asked if the charged could be waived and we were told no they would not waive the additional hour. We told them that we had to wait for them to get the car ready. They indicated we didn't have to wait that long. We let them know that there level of customer service was very disappointing. I cannot believe how different my experience was than some of the other reviews for this operation. I cannot more strongly recommend avoiding this Budget Truck rental. I cannot help but speculate anything above a 1 star rating maybe the Avis Budget Group doing some sort of paid reviews to help try to resurrect it's obviously lack of customer service and ethics. My story... I was returning my truck rental...I literally filled the gas tank 4 blocks from the store....I left the bunk handle to go until it clicked off....I rarely drive a truck and the piping seemed industrial so I was concerned on it overflowing....I looked at the gauge and it was on the F --- it seemed full and was the same as when I got the truck.....when I got to Avis/Budget lot, Raul indicate the tank is not full and it is $15-$20 short....I was surprised and told him I just filled it up down the street....thinking I may be misunderstanding or not reading the F needle correct; and not wanting to pay him the $30 service fee plus whatever gas he believes is correct; I drove the truck down the street again to try to fill it more.....I literally placed 2.2 gallons in at $8.32 when gas came shooting out of the pipe....in fairness the needle did move from the center of the F to the right side of the F; however, further to the right side of the F than when I got the truck....I drove back to the Avis Budget site to drop the truck off and wanted Raul to verify he is now ok with where the fuel level is and ensure he can see what the level looks like when gas literally pours out from the top of the pipe....Raul had no interest in confirming the fuel level and had another employee check as, I believe,in his mind he got what he wanted; he squeezed another customer for every last penny to in his word "protect his company's interests"..stunning he did not have the professionalism to verify his demand for more money from his customer was met (candidly I think he may have realized how shameful his actions were)....if he is the manager (??which he may very well be??) if he is that desperate to zing customer for every last penny and try to charge a ransom for his demands not expecting a customer to leave and remedy his charge without paying his ransom; he may want to consider focusing on customer service and building the Avis/Budget business on positive customer satisfaction than doing what happened this morning; losing a customer via working what is seemingly corporate strategic approach to pinching its customers for fees and charges at all cost.... fool me once; shame on you...fool my twice shame on me.....Raul and his organization lost a customer today and I strongly encourage you avoiding this business at all cost....thanks for reading.... read more

This is a hidden gem in the South Bay and they service the entire Los Angeles metro area with a fleet of Budget trucks in all sizes. However the real gem of their operation is an amazing individual by the name of Shazia Akhtar. My true story and review: We booked a Budget 16 foot truck 2 months before our one way move from Mar Vista, CA to Reno, NV. My plan was to lock in a truck for the very busy Labor Day weekend, and make use it for the move, as my company (no not Tesla) was moving to Reno, NV. When I called this Budget location the morning of our rental to pick up our truck we were told that trucks were not back as scheduled and there were not trucks. Much to my dismay, I was not happy. Sharzia assured me that although we would not be able to pick up our truck in the early afternoon, she said she "would find me a truck". How many times have we heard vain promises from CS reps? Right!? So in a panic I contacted U-Haul and went to get a back up truck, unfortunately they only had a 14' so I was going to have to leave some furniture behind. So later that day around 5PM I received a call from Sharzia, she delightedly informed me she had the truck I had ordered in spite of the shortage of equipment in the LA area. We went right over and got the truck, she was great, she kept the office open until we could get there and she was even able to give me some additional free miles and a few other considerations above and beyond my contracted price. The trucks had high miles on it, but it was a newer model and drove great, got good gas mileage, and when we got to the Budget office the on the planed arrival the fees were perfect, no overcharge either for keeping it over night due to the holiday. All I can say is dedicated people make a difference in any business, even in a business as large as Budget. I highly recommend this corporate location in Hawthorne and I suggest before calling the toll free that you call this locations phone number and ask for Ms. Sharzia Akhtar, you will not be disappointed in her professional and friendly, can do, get it done approach to serving her clients, and you will get a really great rate, and ultimately be fully satisfied with the level of service you received. I reserved a vehicle over the phone with my debit card they took the money over the phone than I travelled 9 miles to get there only for them to tell me even thou they took money off my card for the rental plus a extra one hundred dollars they couldn't rent me a car because my debit card was reloadable from the government and I would have my money tide up for over a week and I missed a funeral and it was pouring down rain and I would have to get home the best way I can very poor service wouldn't recommend at all read more
