Extremely Disappointing Experience - Poor Service, Hidden Charges, Zero Accountability I am a Preferred member and this was one of the worst rental experiences I've had with any company. I was overcharged for a fuel fee that was completely unwarranted, as the vehicle was returned with the same fuel level it was picked up with. Despite this being a straightforward issue, resolving it became unnecessarily difficult. The customer service desk was shockingly unprofessional. Staff were openly bickering and cursing among themselves, showing a complete lack of basic customer service etiquette. It was uncomfortable and unacceptable. As a Preferred member, the check-in process should have been seamless. Instead, I was required to check in manually and then wait an additional 15 minutes before being allowed to pick up my vehicle -- defeating the entire purpose of Preferred status. To make matters worse, no one informed us that adding an additional driver would incur an extra charge. This lack of transparency resulted in a $77.20 charge for something that was never disclosed, discussed, or agreed to. That is misleading at best and scandalous at worst. Miguel Peneranda eventually reached out and corrected the fuel charge, but refused to address the undisclosed additional driver fees. After that, communication stopped entirely -- no follow-up, no explanation, no resolution. I also contacted billing customer service directly and was met with indifference, lack of courtesy, and zero accountability. Because of this experience, I will be taking both my personal business and my company's business (Nestlé) elsewhere. Avis has made it clear that Preferred status means very little and that transparency and customer care are not priorities. I strongly recommend choosing another rental company. read more

So I rented a car from Avis. When I got in the vehicle and headed towards the exit I noticed the tank wasn't full. They marked it on the contract but not sure why it's my responsibility to fill the tank. No big deal. Later that evening I was pulled over, sent through a roadside sobriety test (I had not been drinking) and placed in the back of a police car. Why? There was no license tag on the back of the vehicle. Not blaming the police - I had out of state license, no insurance card for the vehicle I was driving and the pamphlet that Avis provides is hand written and could pretty easily be faked. I get they had to confirm the vehicle wasn't stolen. I immediately called Avis customer service and was routed to an overseas call center which was zero help and essentially all they kept saying was return the car. They couldn't even connect me to the rental counter to ensure there was another vehicle available much less arrange for it to be ready when I arrived. After traveling 40 minutes back to the airport spending another hour waiting in lines to get a new vehicle and driving 40 minutes back Avis offered to comp ONE RENTAL DAY or about $35. There over 20 rental car companies at the Fort Lauderdale airport any of which would be a better choice than Avis. read more

Work experience ever! They made me wait for almost 1 hour because the car needed to be cleaned. I had originally paid for an upgrade for a luxury car, they didn't have a luxury car available but refused to give me a the extra charge I had paid. After I returned the car they charged me extra $50 claiming that car had 5 gallons of gas less than what it had when I picked it up. I have pictures showing that the information is not accurate. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR MONEY. had a reservation here for over a week. When I showed up, the heavyset man behind the counter unsympathetically told me they had no cars. "I tried calling you last night" he said. When I asked him what phone number he tried calling, he then said there was no number on my reservation so he couldn't reach me. He said I could leave my phone number and he would give me a call maybe if something showed up. I asked him if he could call other locations to try and help me and he said I was more than welcome to call if I wanted, but should try either Miami or west palm. This is an offsite Avis where they are joined with Budget Truck Rentals also. There were two friendly employees and I received a Ford Escort for my compact car and it was clean. I was very pleased that it came with a full tank which often sometimes does not happen with Enterprise. I prefer Avis much better to Enterprise. The only time Enterprise cars are decent are when you get them from the airport. So I am a happy customer! I deducted one star as the location does not have a fast pass lane. Additionally the representatives were multi tasking and not totally focused on the customer at hand. read more

We rented a cargo van to move from Fort Lauderdale to Boulder Colorado. We made it to Delray Beach and had to pull off because multiple cars were flagging us down pointing out that the rear passenger wheel was wobbling so bad it looked like it was gonna fly off. We sat off the highway for over an hour could not access Budgets roadside service and then this specific location called us back and suggested we drive it back to them which took us over 45 minutes. We also had keys that were labeled "Out of service Physical Damage". The key tag was filthy but those neon stickers on it were clean and fresh which makes it obvious that they knew the truck was problematic. Their mechanic drove it in a circle in the parking lot and then informed me the axle was slightly bent but we would make it to Boulder with no problem. He didn't drive doing 60mph on a highway. He drove it in a circle in a gravel lot at 10mph. Not the same mister professional mechanic. I drove it 10 minutes home because all of my belongings were packed in it. Roadside service came to my house and inspected it, took the wheels off and said the wheel was the problem, not the axle, Change it and request a spare (they did not give us a spare) or get another vehicle. The location couldn't tell me when their mechanic would be in the next day or if he would even fix it because he's already looked at it and "he may not agree" with roadside assistance.This man is an embarrassment of a mechanic and should be let go if that's his diagnosis to a problem that was proven to be much more severe. They also couldn't guarantee me another vehicle. 24 hours behind schedule. We decide to take it back and get a refund which we did but they actually made us leave and go put 30.00 worth of gas in it because "that's policy". Never-mind all the inconvenience they had caused us and put us essentially 48 hours behind schedule, potentially put us in a harmful and dangerous situation. And the gas was down because we had to keep the AC running for my 145lb Saint Bernard and cat that were in the vehicle with us. It was 93 degrees out!! But why would they even think it was acceptable to hold us to that when they gave us a faulty vehicle! RADEJL was the name of the agent at this office, he was nice up until we put our foot down and then he was an arrogant, jerk who wouldn't even look at you when he was talking down to you. Poor customer service!! He refused to give me contact information for his supervisor, his exact words were "I'm the closest thing to it". Between him and the mechanic they should not be working there. They were willing to let us drive a vehicle over 3,000 miles with our animals let alone ourselves that was NOT safe or suitable for a drive of that distance. And I believe he knew it wasn't safe because they were ready and willing to give us all our money back and forget about it. This was the worst experience Ive ever had with a rental, I now don't feel safe or secure driving these vehicles because of this experience. I am totally appalled by Budget's way of dealing with this and I hope anyone that reads this takes their business elsewhere. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION OR RADEJL. He actually snickered when we pointed out that it is illegal to drive on a bent axel. I'd also like to state that my other half is a mechanical engineer, he's very aware of how this works. This place is poorly operated, and in my opinion not trustworthy for ones safety. Small selection of cars. Always busy. Just wait it out at the location to get your car (30min+ to get anything done) This place is pretty much a one woman show. It's swamped all day at all hours with a small list of cars to choose from, dirty Budget trucks they're trying to clean, and people coming in for all reasons. Getting them on the phone is impossible on the weekends while the weekdays fair a little better. Service is as friendly as you'll get when one person is working the whole store, but generally Lisa is pretty amazing for being able to handle all sorts of things. read more

Just because I told her that I had issues with the truck ( I couldn't drive for 2 days because of tire problem) . I have been told that it's a "new truck " 2018 ( I found out it was 2017 ) with 2 tires That put me in dangerous situations ( the roadside mechanic told me that it was crazy to let me out with those tires ) I would never do any business with company and specially with this location ! read more

The way this location handles problems and solving them is disgraceful! I made a reservation 3 days prior and when I called on my way over to them to verify that everything was ready to go, the gentleman on the phone told me that since I didn't arrive at the time I listed, they gave away my reservation and had no more cars to rent, all one hour prior to me heading out of town. No courtesy call from anyone asking if I was still coming at noon or possibly running late to pick up my car when they close at 6, I should have till the end of the day to pick up my reservation or should have been called to see if I was still coming. And if they gave away my car, at least try to make up for it...not say "we have no more cars". Thanks to the jerk who basically ruined my trip. read more

Not recommended, terrible location. I have reserved a minivan a few weeks ago, only to find out they don't have the car I rented and paid for in advance. Also, they will accept only certain US Government issued documents, only the ones they claim to have a policy for. Also, if you are not from the U.S., and you're just visiting, I would definitely not recommend going there for anything, at all. I'm not going to say the staff was rude, but they did not provide any initiative in assisting me; they showed no empathy whatsoever. They didn't even offer a refund. The manager Judi is a good-for-nothing. The staff in general is very unprofessional. So much for paying in advance. I will do everything in my power and my attorney's to file an FTC complaint and a report to the state's Attorney General about their negligence. read more

I PREPAID for an Avis rental car online. After traveling across the country Avis refused to rent me the car. They had a boat show in town and sold my car to someone else. Fortunately another company did rent me a car (at a very high rate because it was last minute). To make matter worse I spent hours on the phone and at Avis (on my vacation) trying to get my money refunded. When they finally refunded my money they charged me $110 cancellation fee. They fully acknowledge they refused to rent me the car, though they kept changing stories on why. At this point I am still waiting on the $110 cancellation fee to be refunded and it has been 12 days. Don't prepay with Avis. You may not get the car or your money back. read more
