If you have your own insurance they will insist that you pay a €30 administration fee. There is zero warning of this until you are at the desk in the airport, even though I declined their insurance when I made the booking. The lady at the desk assured me that it is in the fine-print, but it isn't, and she was unable to produce the documentation for me to read myself. I had checked the fine-print beforehand, but the discussion at the desk was going nowhere so I paid. Afterwards I re-read all the documents that I received and there is no mention of this charge.
The problem is that once you're at the desk, they leave you no choice, you have to pay or you don't get a car, my kids were tired and I didn't want the hassle/risk of going to another desk on-the-fly.
