We got off the ship and went to the train station. There were two lines to buy tickets. One with an automatic machine and one that was also an information center. The information line was 3 times as long but we waited in that line to be able to ask what station to get off the train to take the bus to the castle. When we got to the front of the line and asked the man at the desk, he refused to help us and said he didn't have time to answer questions. I sarcastically said, whatever, I guess I'll figure it out myself. He screamed at me, pointing his finger at me and hitting it against the window, saying "don't whatever me" and kicked my wife and I out of the line refusing to sell us tickets. We then waited in the other line and purchased tickets from the automated machine. By the time we got to the front of that line we missed our train. Everyone else that worked at the station was very pleasant and helpful after I explained the situation to them. They agreed that "he was just an asshole". I don't understand what his problem was. I don't recommend visiting this train station unless you know where you are going and don't need help from anyone especially the information desk. I can't understand why he was in charge of the information desk and refused to give information. I later was informed that the stop I needed was the last stop. That was all he had to say. He argued with me for 5 minutes but didn't have time to say to take the train until the final stop. Very strange.

This diminutive station is well kept and serves its purpose well. It is on the western edge of city…read morecentre and is within easy walking distance of all of the points of interest in town. The 19th-Century brick building is attractive. The portion of the facility used for train travel is smaller than it once was as Cobh has lost some of its importance as a transportation centre over time. The town used to be a major port for emigration and was, thus, much busier. But as seafaring transportation activity declined, the need for a large train station diminished as well. The nicely-presented Cobh Heritage Centre now occupies the remainder of the old station building. The convenience of the location is accentuated by the fact that the Titanic Experience is a quick couple-of-minute walk down the street and city centre is only another minute or two further. The train service from Cork is quick and easy and the station is a great point of entry. There are not many services in the station and the waiting area is small. But it is facile to navigate and easy to use.

I've gone through this station several times while visiting Killarney. It's small but because of…read morethat it's very easy to find and navigate through. It has some benches both inside and outside for sitting at while you wait for a train. There are ticket machines and vending machines if you need a drink or snack. Two platforms though I've only ever seen one in use. The train is usually on time within 10 minutes. Since Killarney is so walkable I'd recommend just walking to your destination unless it's outside of the town centre. The taxis will gouge you if they know you're a tourist, and they will sometimes even camp out at the station exit and try to get you to go with them. Just walk instead!

The coffee place open only if there is train passing by. Other wise the place is close. Not sure how m y trains coming out of here daily. Small place to hide if there is a rain.

This was the last port of call for the White Star Liner, Titanic on her I'll fated voyage. This port was one of the biggest ports involved with Irish migration to the United States. The Garda station honors this heritage by being built to mimic a cruise Liner's shape.

A funny station all told, MacDonagh Station in Kilkenny…read more I was on foot and tried to find an easy exit to the shopping centre next door where I was meeting my lift, but there was no convenient way there from what I could see. A quick scan of the car park and I couldn't see any sign posts for people on foot to anywhere. There were signs for the bus stop alright. Maybe there was a sign, but I didn't spot it. One of the taxi drivers there pointed us foot passengers towards the main gate as means of an exit, so I was not trapped after all ;) Speaking of taxis, that was one good thing, there was plenty of them there waiting for travelers disembarking off the train. I was getting a lift, otherwise I would have hopped in one those. On the way home the next day, I had a bit of a wait in the main building here before my train arrived. It was quite cold, so if you need to wait in wintertime, keep your jacket, hat and scarf on. The automatic doors open if you so much as look at them and the winter wind was ready to join us inside. There are ticket machines here as well as a ticket counter. I didn't try the facilities, so cannot comment on them. But there are some, which is always welcome. A-OK.
