It is steps away after crossing the GWB, the car choices are great, and the prices are very reasonable. Manager Arslan is friendly and accommodating (as are his staff) -- a brand-new Honda Civic greeted me for a one-day rental to a memorial service in PA. I wanted to start this review by saying that I actually never really had problems with this AVIS. They are usually and will continue to be my go to; however, I'm hoping this review can help someone else. This review is regarding the AVIS e-z pass toll policy and since this is where I rented from; this is where the review goes. I think the AVIS toll policy is absolutely ridiculous. I rented a car there this past weekend and was asked if I wanted the e-z pass. I said yes thinking it was a charge of $21.99 for the whole rental. WRONG it's 21.99 per day. It's on the paperwork but they kind of skim past that pretty quick. (You got me). Funny enough the car they gave me didn't even have an e-z pass in it. Here's the kicker...if you say no to the e-z pass and then end up using it; they charge you the $21.99 after the fact with no penalty anyway. So, might as well decline it at the start. My suggestion is that if you rent enough get your own e-z pass and just use that. You're going to pay the tolls either way so avoid the extra $21.99 daily charge. I will be calling to fight the extra charge! Hope this helps someone. read more

Great service. Fida really helped us out of a jam when another company cancelled our reservation last minute. He provided excellent and expedient costumer service. The car was clean and vacuumed. The pick up and return was super easy, especially for all these covid restriction times he made it super simple. We had to extend the rental by a day because of the snow storm but it was effortless and stress free. Next time, I am definitely renting through them first. read more

Our weekend trip to Boston didn't happen because Edgar, who runs this operation, refused to rent to us, despite the fact that we had a contract and had spoken with us on the phone a half hour earlier. The kids won't be seeing their grandparents. We'll be staying here. The insulting attitude was icing on the cake. Go rent from National instead. Or Enterprise. Or Hertz. I decided to give this location another opportunity today and was quite disappointed. The agents that work here have an attitude and could really care less. I was given a car that needed to be changed right away due to mechanical lights on the dash and put into a car that felt like it was being held together with bubble gum. I don't foresee myself trying a third time here. read more

generally not a good experience. No after hour return - which is different from indicated on Avis website. No complimentary upgrade for highest tier member - I reserved a full size because I need to pick up family from the airport. The only full size they had was a hybrid fusion, and the trunk is too small because battery compartment eats up some room. I would like to see if it is possible to upgrade since there is no other full size available that could fit the luggage. As a preferred plus member, I was asked if I would like to downgrade to a midsize Hyundai for the same price... Next time I will pay a few more bucks and go with the Enterprise across the street. read more

Walk in asking for a car for a day, was told they have several. I was quoted a price of $136 for the day. Opened the Avis app and booked that same car on the spot for $41. Manager told me I should not have done that and I'm now on a waiting list. Made me wait 30 minutes until ready to close for the day and then have me a car that smelled of cigarettes. Plenty other options within 5 minute walking distance. I will never rent from them again. read more

I mostly review restaurants and food and drinks, but I am straying from my traditional brand to warn people of this company. I have never had such a poor customer service experience anywhere in my life. I scheduled a car rental for Christmas weekend with a pickup time of noon. I made this reservation over a month in advance because I needed to have a car for the afternoon. Upon showing up I was told that they were waiting on a, "Shipment of cars" and that it would be a few minutes. I was a little upset my car wasn't ready but figured it couldn't be more than 10 minutes or so. Now I started to notice that there were a lot of other angry people in the room who had been told they would be waiting only a few minutes. There was an outpouring of excuses; Some people extended their rentals, it's like this everywhere today because it's a bust travel weekend, you can rent the 12 passenger van, but no solutions. I waited THREE HOURS for them to finally bring in some cars from Newark. I missed the majority of my only day over Christmas to spend time with my family because of all the traffic that developed over the late afternoon while I waited. There is absolutely no excuse not to have cars ready for reservations that were made so long ago, and even more inexcusable for the wait to be 3 hours. After countless emails to customer service I was given a $30 voucher to rent with them in the future. Believe it or not, I won't be renting with Avis again. read more

Because of the low price, I have rented here a couple times in the past and had no problem. This last time, they almost ruined the start of my vacation. Partly due to Avis having a bad computer service and partly due to a very rude and untrained person behind the counter. I made a reservation to pick up a car at 12pm and rent for a week. I prepaid to save about $30. When I showed up at 2pm to pick up my prepaid car, they were all out. There was another person, also waiting for a car. They said I could wait until someone returned a car...but they didn't know how long it would be. They also said they could call anther location and I could go there...nothing close though. I was not happy with this, but I am a patient person. Because I showed some unhappiness with this situation, after having paid for a car...the person behind the counter told me to not get belligerent with him and that he was trying to help me. Did he expect me to be happy about not having a car I had paid for? Even though I was in an Avis, I had to phone the 800 number and get a manager on the phone, before getting my money refunded. It also took a few days to get my money back. I then called the Enterprise a block away and they gave me a car right away and had professional people working there. Worth paying a few more dollars to rent there. Avis has an awful system in place and untrained people working at this location. They also share the parking lot with other businesses and this sometimes causes problems. No drop off when they are closed. read more

We get to the Fort Lee, NJ location on time to pick up our rental. After the paperwork is done, we are super excited to start our trip, only to be greeted by a dirty car. Now this is a paid service, and I don't think it is too much to expect a clean car with no bird droppings. It looked like the car had been sitting in the lot for months. All the windows were rolled down, which made no sense at the time. But we got over the fact that the car was dirty and hopped in our car and drove off. Once we rolled up the windows and turned on the AC, the smell of smoke just hits us. Now it makes sense why they had rolled the windows down. This smell lasted the whole 3 days of our trip. And one last thing, one of the rear speakers was busted, which of course made our road trip not so enjoyable, to have to listen to music through a blown out speaker. I was really looking forward to our trip and renting through Avis and my preferred program. I am thoroughly disappointed. read more

I have rented from this Avis at least 20 times over the past 5 years and will continue to do so. They have always had the car I reserved ready to go and have been flexible when I need to pick up the car early or return it late. The cars have all been in good shape. And, the guys who work there are very nice. I was surprised to see that other reviewers had a problem with the car being dirty or with bad customer service - that has not been my experience. read more
