    We have prepaid for our Avis rent a car. We were supposed to get a Toyota, but just like every time at Avis, the car you're supposed to get is never available. It was late at night and they told us they had one car waiting for us. The car was clearly never cleaned, as you can see below, and in fact it was filthy. In addition to that, they were cracks on the windows. We told Avis about this and they said they would note it in their system. However when we went to return the car Avis said there was nothing they could do. Of course, they could have and should have given us the credit on the car we were entitled to. Instead they tried to pawn us off to their customer service center with the hopes that we would not call to get the credit we were entitled to. To add insult to injury, Avis not only charges what we had prepaid, but they charge just extra. Yet we did not have extra miles or any damage on the car, and in fact they were supposed to give us a credit for the soiled and broken car they gave us, definitely avoid Avis.

    We rented a Ford Explorer at the Boise Airport location in May of 2018. After driving nearly four hours on the highway (with 80mph speed limits) we stopped to refuel and noticed the tires of our Ford Explorer were so bald they were nearly worn completely through to the steel cords. We didn't notice this when picking up the vehicle as it was in the evening and we were planning for an early trip the next morning. Actually the vehicle was very dirty, the 3rd row seat was broken, and I had taken a few photos of the exterior prior to us leaving. I typically don't do that, but this vehicle had over 33k miles on it and had been driven pretty hard. The tires on this vehicle were so bad that they put my family at a severe risk. Had we had a blowout on the highway, it would have been catastrophic for me and my children who were in the vehicle. (Photos of the tires after we noticed them are posted below). I can't believe this vehicle was sent out in this condition. Not only this, after calling the Avis line when we noticed the state of the vehicle we were told to just drive to the nearest Avis location to get a replacement. Again we had to get back on the highway to drive to the nearest city with an Avis location. Once we got there, we found they didn't have vehicles available. Again, we were told to drive to the nearest airport location. On the highway. This took an extra two hours just to deal with this situation, on top of our 14hr planned drive. This was another customer service failure as after I thought about it, I'm not sure why the agent didn't look in the system to help me find the nearest location that actually had vehicles available. I was left to deal with this on my own in a state I wasn't familiar with. The rental agents at the Utah locations were very pleasant and couldn't believe the state of the tires either. We were told to call Avis Corporate once we were done with the rental to discuss a refund of our rental charges. We did that, along with sharing photos of the condition of the vehicle. After multiple emails back and forth and speaking with a supervisor, I was told that all "corporate" would offer me was approximately 20% off of my rental charges. They did not seem to think this issue, and the risk they put my family in, was a big deal at all. I will be sharing this story because I feel that other consumers need to be aware of the lack of concern for Avis customer safety as well as their poor customer service habits. There are many other rental car companies, and I will never choose Avis again.

    This Avis location is known for the employees to steal from customers. The Avis customer service department is no help at all.

    Rude staff. Denied me even when I pre paid for my rental. Looked me up and down and made me feel absolutely horrible.

Awesome that their rental counter is located in baggage claim. No need for shuttles or trams to an offsite location. We were greeted by Megan and she found our reservation. For our brief stay in Boise, we got a nice Hyundai Sonata. We did the option to return the vehicle with a full tank and it was very, very inexpensive to fill it at $3.15 a gallon! There is currently construction going on around the structure where the vehicles enter and exit but, all was fine. When we returned the vehicle Megan was actually outside in the lot to assist us with the return. She is enthusiastic and helpful. Just awesome. Would definitely go with Enterprise again. 4 stars!

    We did a 24hr rental and returned it to pick up a 1way. Everything on the 1st rental went well…read more Hopped off the plane, -5min walk to the desk. We had checked in online to avoid the hoopla & usually, with that, it's skip the desk just keys and go. Here, the desk is where you do everything, so, regular line & we were asked the same check in questions again (fuell, insurance and one more push for upgrade). The process was still quick & painless. The exit to pick up the cars was different- it felt like you were using an employee exit. The lot is a standard parking lot, accessible by anyone (no strips/ gate & there's construction going on. Return is the same. We dropped off & went directly inside to pick up a 1way rental to Spokane, d/t a flight issue. This was a close in rental, so, no option to check in online. This didn't really impact checkl in - same questions, just add initials & sign... took maybe an extra minute.We waited over an hour in line. There were 2 staff working the desk and there was an angry patron on the side, demanding a manager (loudly) as well as someone doing what appeared to be a long term rental. Those 2 clients took quite some time. Staff remained friendly throughout & were apologetic for the long wait. The 3 checking before us, & ours, were handled quickly & we made it to Spokane.

My flight arrived 25 minutes early so…read moreI went to the counter 25 minutes before my scheduled pick up time and they casually checked me out and handed me the paperwork, only for me to unfold the paperwork and see that they charged me the equivalent of a half day rental without verbally mentioning the price hike. I went back to address the price discrepancy and the workers were beyond disrespectful and took no accountability for adjusting price without communicating the change to me at checkout. I then sat there for several more minutes until my exact checkout time hit on the clock so I could get my car at the price I signed in the contract. In addition to the horrible customer service, they don't have a selection of cars to choose from at pick up for President Circle members, and they're are all very basic and seemingly old vehicles. My assigned car was a Toyota sedan without Sirius XM. The one good thing was that the cars were onsite at the airport, so the pick up and drop off was quite easy without having to shuttle anywhere. Though I will maintain my Hertz loyalty because my experience is much better elsewhere, I wouldn't rent from this location.l again.

Even though there wasn't an associate at the Alamo counter, another counter associate motioned me over and was able to help me. My reservation was confirmed and I was assigned a car that happened to be the same make and model of my personal vehicle, that was super convenient! I was given the keys and sent on my way. Be aware that the signage over the BC door as you exit the terminal states that you need both the keys and the contract, you don't. The contracts are emailed to you at a later date. (It has been 3 days since I returned the car and I still don't have it) There is no intervention with anyone out in the lot, you find your car from the letter and number on keyfob, check the car for any previous damage, and drive away. I was able to get everywhere that I needed all weekend and that was awesome! Renting the car was less expensive than getting Ubers to get around. Returning the car was super easy as well, an associate verifies the mileage and confirms what you chose regarding gas, I took advantage of their filling option so that I didn't have to gas it up. At that point I was good to go! The process was very easy from making the reservation to returning the car, I would highly recommend it!

Called when the car broke down and they said the tow truck driver would take two people to the rental company to get a new vehicle and then hung up on me. Tow truck driver said he was only taking the vehicle to a different state and was not authorized to give anyone a ride. Customer service hung up on me three times when I tried calling back to get a ride or a new vehicle. First customer service person said they would send an uber then hung up before I could ask any questions, but instead sent a link I could not use because I had very limited service at the location, with no internet service. Second person said there was nothing they could do, I needed to call 911 for assistance, then hung up on me. Third customer service representative said if I didn't have service to get a link to request an uber there was nothing they could do. On the fourth call I finally got someone that helped: she requested a ride but then called me back saying because of my location (on the side of a highway) they would not pick us up, that I needed to get to a safe location for pickup (closest town was many miles away on a 2 lane highway). Thankfully we had family that could drive the 1 hour each way to get us, and they had to take 2 trips for the 6 people and our luggage, and take us to our Airbnb. We went to the air bnb rather than a random drop off as it had already been 3 hours of dealing with the runaround and I did not want to be stuck again at a random place with no means of travel. Once at the Airbnb we called again for them to send an uber and was told I was outside the 50 miles they would cover and I would be required to pay out of pocket. When I declined they figured out a way to get a new rental to me that evening, with the new tow truck driver having to also fight on my behalf to pick up the new rental, as Alamo was showing I had already gotten the car. My first call when the vehicle lost power was at 3:25 pm. The first tow truck driver came and took the broke down vehicle at 5:00. The first helpful person I was able to speak to was at 4:45, and 7:30 for the person that finally set up the car to be delivered to me. The new vehicle was delivered at 11:30 pm. We were fortunate that we had family in the state that could assist or we would have been stranded on the side of a highway for 8 hours and would have had to walk many miles along a two lane, windy highway to get to a place to be picked up, with two seniors, two little children, along with our luggage and car seats. Of the seven customer service representatives I spoke to, four were very rude and hung up on me, only three actually helped and were responsive. We were in town for a wedding we were in and we missed the wedding rehearsal and dinner. I understand vehicles are unpredictable, but as a business that it's sole purpose is vehicles, the way the situation was handled was unprofessional, rude, and caused a lot more pain and suffering than should have ever happened
