I am a big advocate of getting pets microchipped because collars can come off. Microchipping your pet does not hurt them. All my pets are microchipped. My nephew's dog is an escape artist, so after a close call at a shelter I took it upon myself to get him microchipped. Since then, he has been safely returned home on a few occasions. Before leaving town on a trip, I received a text from my mom that he got out again. 5 minutes later I received a call from Annette Lupardo at Avid PETtrac. She said the person who found him was speaking to someone when she called to report him being found and returned him to a girl who was the owner. I explained that it was my nephew's dog, and I would have to call to make sure. I called my mom and asked if my niece had picked up Sesos and she said, "no" and that my nephew was still out looking for him. I called Avid back so I could let them know that he was still missing. While on hold I received a text from my mom saying that my nephew and Sesos were back home, so I hung up. A few minutes later Annette called me back. She said, "I noticed you called buy hung up before being helped." I explained that there was some confusion about Sesos being back home. She mentioned that when she was talking to the individual that found Sesos the person that showed up to claim him mentioned my name, which Annette had on record as being the owner. For some reason, the person who found Sesos mistook my nephew as a girl. LOL! It's all good because Sesos is back home safe thanks to Avid and Annette who went above and beyond to make sure this story had a happy ending. On the fourth of july the fireworks spooked my service dog and he got out and after a quick search of the area i called avid and they were able to calm me down and put a locater out for my dog. Our local animal shelter had him and because of avid they knew he was a missing service dog and not just a pitbull on the loose. I had my dog chipped 17 years ago when I got him. We are at a new vet now and they scanned him for a chip and told me to update my information on avid. I was a bit stressed out when I called Avid about my dog's microchip registration. I had moved and I had a new veterinarian so I called to update my information. Come to find out, the chip was not registered at all. That's when my stress level went up. Come to find out I was supposed to register it, not my vet as I had thought. Rhonda came to my rescue. She was so different than any other customer service representative I'd ever experienced. My old vet had given me the wrong chip number and Rhonda patiently tried to find it. I ended up calling the old vet again and got the correct number. When I called back, I again got Rhonda on the phone. She remembered my name, so I didn't have to explain all over again my dilemma. Annette Lupardo is an ANGEL! My Labrador, Merry, was chipped at the age of eight weeks by a pet hospital here in Honolulu. The veterinarian did not tell me that I had to register the chip. Knowing that Merry is my first dog, she should have let me know. Now, with Merry at the age of nine and a half, I called to change the information that I expected was already on file. However, there was no telephone number or address associated with my Merry. Annette not only updated all of the information on Merry's AVID microchip, but, because I did not knoe that there was a fee to do this, she billed me so that I could pay the fee when my Social Security check arrives.
