I went in for a cleaning and a check up and the cleaning was not done well compared to other cleanings I've had. It felt like the bare minimum was done. Usually, the hygienist goes in with the pick to clear out all the stuff that get stuck at the top of the tooth, but they didn't. I was also given all the expensive frills without asking me ($30 fluoride rinse, unnecessary $150 X-Rays), which I later found out how expensive they were once the bill came due. Typical of all dentists offices, they'll ask if you're covered, and if you are they'll just give you everything so the bill is over $500 in order to make your visit as profitable for them as possible. I don't mind if procedures are explained to me (what the cost is, why I need it, etc.) so I can make an informed decision, but I don't appreciate my money being spent without asking or explanation because I'm covered. Never going back.

Ok, so reasons why he is the best dentist in Calgary: -He knows his stuff, and is quick and efficient. -He only does as many procedures as you need, such as xrays and fillings, and he always consults you about doing said procedures. He doesn't try to sell you anything you don't need. -That's his art on the walls! (from his younger days) -He cares about you, and remembers you and your family That's Dr. Chan. But in addition to all of that, you get the warmest, friendliest, funniest and most helpful staff ever. They do their best to book you in for the times you need, to chat with you while you wait, and to remember you every time you come in. They are, in short, totally awesome. I found them in October 2015 and have been amazed with my experience. First of all, they have been totally respectful of my fears and in this short period of time have gained my trust. Some of it comes from them being honest about my treatment plan and I don't feel they are trying to 'up sell'. I've had my cleaning, 3 teeth pulled and one big filling and I seriously can't believe I'm even writing a good review for a dentist. But I have to! I've had a partial plate for more than 5 years from a previous dentist that has never fit properly. With the filling that Nikla did it was on a tooth that the clasp of my partial used. She did her best to fit the partial on that day but because my mouth was frozen she wanted me to come back when it wasn't frozen to have a look. Well it fit about the same as it previously did so I was good with it. But when I went back, her and Clark weren't satisfied with the fitting of the partial. They took their time to get it to fit better and this morning I sent them the following email: "I want to tell Nikla & Clark how much better my partial is!!!! I didn't realize how much better it fit until I went to 'play' with it and found there was nothing to play with. I also didn't realize how much I actually did play around with it in my mouth. I guess I would clench down and then grind side to side and I've caught myself trying to do it but there's nothing to play with. So yeah!!! Thanks for not being just ok with it like I've been, but rather you kept working to improve it." My daughter had her tooth repaired, no check up or cleaning, and it took the entire yearly amount from the plan. The repair lasted six months. Asked about making payments so she could come back for cleaning or anything else that needs to be done and they said no. Really miss the previous owner who was happy to help us and provided great care and work. This place in my opinion is only interesting in grabbing your money.
