Avoid. Reminiscent of Julian, Ricky and company from Sunnyvale. Avery Tree is not a legit business; no trimming trucks or chippers brought to my job (though owner/manager Kelly said he could get one later), and per Christian whom I called from closely named "Avery Tree Experts" in Red Bank, there's been zero affiilation the past 10 years. Believe what you want. My only reason for 2 stars instead of 0-1 is Kelly's unsupervised crew actually cut most of the dead limbs per the job agreement (or used weighted sand bags and rope, the old-fashioned way). Otherwise, Kelly dropped off 5 dudes via pickup truck and took off with payment. After the "climbers" did their thing up in the trees, the vehicle-less crew hung out on my lawn for an hour-plus, waiting for their ride home. During that wait, instead of doing a proper cleanup, they sat around eating and drinking based on the couple of empty shot bottles and partial sandwich that I found in the mess at the curb that I cleaned/chopped up myself the next morning to avoid pissing off my neighbors and so my town would actually do a pickup. So rather than actually act professionally and clean up my property well in hopes of getting repeat business some day, they just sat around. Even after pointing out some missed spots to these guys before they wrapped up, they ignored the issues. So I texted Kelly, requesting to come back and finish what was maybe a half hour of work. After 6 days, much of the same crew finally returned to address missing pieces. I'm sorta shocked they actually came. But, of course, they didn't bother raking up anything that fell, particularly from my neighbors property. At least they showed, and I'd say most of my cutting needs were addressed (hence 2 stars) but not without a clown-car element of execution. Never again. read more

We received a quote and the trees were removed the same day except the large maple tree stump. We held back $100 to complete that task. They left a few tools and a barrel with the promise to return by the end of the week. Well they returned for the tools and barrel,I saw them and sent my husband to talk with them.Long story short 2 months later job that was contracted still not completed after multiple BS excuses. We were warned not to pay until everything was complete. Now you are being WARNED!!! Hold on to your money until your work is DONE. read more

Initially helpful, we were quoted a fair rate and had our tree cut down within 24 hours. They said they would come back to grind the stump. Multiple outreach attempts for a month and they never got back to us. When I pretended to be a new customer, I got a call back the next day. Then no follow-up. Very unprofessional. Trust the bad reviews and go elsewhere to get the job done. read more

We contracted Avery Tree Service after making a few calls to other businesses because of their rapid response time; however, after being paid in FULL, they have failed to remove the tree debris from our Keansburg, NJ yard. Multiple calls later with direct contact with both Erica & Avery, we are still chasing them to complete the work. It saddens us on how they have not taken pride in affording 100% customer satisfaction as this is key in running a business. I hope our matter is resolved soon as we are nearing 30 days and I would hate to think they are willing to jeopardize their company name during these challenging times for lack of communication and blatant breach of a service they were paid to complete. read more

I just moved to Brick and had a back corner of yard that was very overgrown and stuff everywhere. Kelly came quickly and gave a quote. They came a week or so later and were very quickly and professional. My dogs and toddler will be much safer with all the junk out of the way! Will definitelydefinitely use them again as I move my way down the yard read more

After removing several large trees on my property, the workers gouged out areas of my driveway and the street outside my driveway while lifting the large trunks with their equipment. Unfortunately, I didn't see the damage to my driveway and the street until after I paid in full. Kelly Avery was informed of the damage and said he would have a friend repair it. After repeated texts reminding him to repair the 5 gouges in my driveway and his responses that he would be here soon, they are still not repaired. It's been 3 years!! I would never use this business again. I hesitated to leave a bad review and have never done so before, but this behavior is completely unacceptable! read more

Moved into Pinehurst last week and immediately noticed a large broken branch hanging over my garage. I called around for a few days but received not one phone call back. On Thursday I was given the name of AVERY TREE SERVICE. I called that day and by 3:00pm that day they were on their way. I found the owner and workers to be very efficient, polite, knowledgeable. There work was neat and they left my property in better condition then they found it! I will use them again and highly recommend the company. read more

Kelly Avery and his crew removed a large maple tree from my back yard that was along the side of my house and neighbors yard. It was not an easy job, but they knew exactly what they were doing and there were no major issues. This company met and/or exceeded my expectations and I would use them again / recommend them. Kelly came to my house for an estimate the same day I called and put me on the schedule right away. Price was fair and worth it. They showed up when they said they were going to show up (which I understand with tree companies is half the battle) and left me a clean yard at the end. read more

I would give ZERO stars if I could. Kelly Avery gave us a quote to take down two trees, grind stumps and cut/stack wood. Paid half when after he took the trees and cut and stacked a fraction of the wood (our mistake). Left large sections of tree all over our yard and on town property. Did not grind stumps or clean up the wood. Weeks went by with empty promises of his brother coming to grind the stumps (brother owns Avery Tree Experts) which did not happen. Reporting now to Monmouth County Consumer Affairs and looking for another tree removal company. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Prompt reply to my Yelp request. Was able to evaluate my need with photos and give me a fair estimate. Set a date to accomplish the work within a few days. Staff was professional and in communication with me the whole time. read more

Kelly Avery crew did a good job Would hire again. They also came same day to handle a large tree in my backyard. They were neat and professionals. Got a kick out of watching them eat off our raspberry shrubs. Thanks read more

Kelly Avery was dishonest and fraudulent. He was supposed to remove a large tree on my property. The limbs and branches were removed and left all over my property, but were never ground up or removed. The large tree trunk is still standing. He received $2700.00 of the $3700.00 estimate. His large truck did damage when it became stuck on my lawn and my neighbor's property. He has never returned my calls. I will now have to pay another tree service to cut down and remove the tree. I plan to take legal action against this individual. read more

Chris Avery's crew were really very good. They came on time, worked the entire day through to remove two huge oaks on my lawn that were dead and / or diseased. His crew were very courteous and very professional. They did a super job with the cleanup and removal of everything- and also took down a few limbs from a neighbor's overhanging tree. The crew was careful not to damage a cherry tree under the oaks; and made sure to to take enough care to avoid damaging the lawn and sprinkler systems in place with their heavy equipment. I got 3 quotes for the job; Avery was easily the most reasonable, and the most available- did the job 2 days after quoting. The only issue (minor) I had was chasing them for a few days to remove the last of the root grindings left by the curb- which they thoroughly cleaned up by the end of the week. read more

Excellent experience. Got an estimate quickly, and days later the polite, professional crew showed up, did a great job quickly, with immaculate cleanup. Was not asked to pay until the job was complete. Avery was recommended by a neighbor and did not disappoint - would highly recommend them. read more

I had used Avery many years ago after Hurricane Sandy when it was difficult to find contractors and they did a reasonably good job and delivered on their promise. Years later I needed trees cut back at a new property so we called them They cam quickly and did an OK job, I paid them in full without seeing the finished job as I was out of town. Came home and found that they left a mess in my driveway and also didn't finish the job. Texted Kelly (the owner) and he responded saying they would be back in a few days. Never came. texted a few more times over the next month and he completely ignored my texts. Bottom line, they took my money and ran without completing the job and leaving a mess behind. I was a repeat customer and now a former customer, won't use them ever again. read more

My husband and I called about 5 different Tree Services in Monmouth and Ocean Counties and only 3 of them showed up to look at the trees we needed removed. We decided to use Avery Tree Service because of the excellent customer service we received from both their office staff and from the owner himself Kelly Avery. From the start, Kelly was completely accommodating and willing to work with us to stay within our budget. From the very first day Kelly and his staff started working at our home, we were impressed. Not only were they extremely professional, but they were friendly and hard working; asking my husband and I if we were satisfied throughout the two days it took them to complete our large job. I highly recommend Kelly and his staff at Avery Tree Service to anyone in need of a reliable, friendly , reasonably priced tree service and will absolutely be using them again in the near future...... my husband and I truly could not be happier! read more

Avery left my neighbor and I in shambles. They cut down a large tree but ripped out 3 lilac bushes (the downed tree was supposed to afford them and my neighbors bushes more light). They ruined my beach grass and tore large chunks out of my lawn. Their voicemail is full but I texted photos of the above with a message to the cell phone but never received a reply!! The worst ever. Don't hire!!! Please note, until now the last review was over a year ago. They must have lost their ability to do a complete and responsible job. read more

I would not recommend Avery came without equipment they needed and did not finish the trimming we had contracted. Left dead tree limbs hanging. I made the mistake of paying when Kelly said he would be back but now doesn't answer the phone. Stay away read more

A negative mark would be more appropriate for Avery Tree Service. I hired them in May 2020 to cut down a giant tree in front of the house, cut a dead branch from another giant tree in the back and grind the stump of what's remaining from a tree on the side of the house. They came and cut down the tree and left it on the front lawn, took my money, and said they'd be back to do the rest of the work. I called every day and they never answered or called me back. They destroyed my front lawn. After a couple of months, I gave up and called another company to finish the job. read more

3 stars only for one reason, otherwise it would have been 5! Kelly Avery has a great crew. I had several very large trees & limbs removed. They were courteous and professional. They took great care as to not harm any of my smaller trees, plants and fences. The only issue I came across after they had left was to find some very large deep holes in my yard where some parts of the trees had embedded upon falling. These holes are large enough that if not looking one could break a leg if they stepped into it. My main concern is the dogs. If they happen to be chasing around and step into it we will have a very big vet bill. If you want great tree removal go to Avery but check the yard closely. G Green read more

Avery came over quickly to give an estimate. They gave a great price- better than 3 other tree cutting services. They were able to start the job (removal of 4 tall trees and stump grinding) in the next two days. The crew was quick, professional. The cutting of trees and stump grinding was perfect. The removal of the trees with a Bobcat does beat up the grass but they limited that to a narrow lane on the lawn. Overall, I would enthusiastically use them again. read more

So happy with these guys. Needed 6 trees pruned in our yard and after calling a few other guys.. one who wanted to cut the tops off all of the trees, instead of pruning them as we requested, and a second company that just never came to give us an estimate, we called Kelly Avery. John Lytle showed up to give us a estimate, and a few days later their team showed up, right on time to do the job that we wanted. They climbed the trees and did a fabulous job, making sure it was exactly what we wanted. They were professional, quick and did a great job! They cleaned the whole yard up and were on their way, leaving behind some very satisfied customers who will definitely use them again!! read more

We couldn't be happier with the service. Knowledgeable, quick, and a decent price. I called on Saturday, Jeff came the same day and removed the tree on Monday. It was a 70 ft oak with a 4 ft diameter looming over my house. Other tree service guys quoted $2000 and $3000 more for the job. Jeff was the only one of the tree service guys who told me that the tree was probably hollow inside and needed to come down sooner rather than later. And he was right. I didn't get to see them work, but everything looked good when I came home. read more
