Wish all my doctors were this good. Had cataract surgery- amazing. Very accommodating as far as which day for surgery and follow up. Also did my wife's cataract surgery. After wearing contacts or glasses for 65 years - doesn't need anything now. Dr Lin is wonderful. read more

This clinic is way too busy and more expensive than others. I'm in the process of cataract surgery (one's complete). I found out they charge almost double for their upgraded lenses than other clinics! Also I have to wait HOURS every time I go in for an appointment. They completely overbook. If I knew before I started this process what I know now, I'd have gone elsewhere. I really like my doc but I don't think it's worth the time and $$. read more

Where do I start? Over a 1 hour wait for a preliminary eye exam, back in April ,2024. Total time there was 2 hours. The computer system went out. I was told to call in a few days so I could pick up my prescription for new glasses and to pay my co-pay. 1 week later, and no call back, I had to return in person to pickup my prescription and pay my co-pay. I was overcharged by $38.00 and had to have my Medicare agent get the reimbursement done for me. Fast forward to July, 2024. I decided to give them another chance and get my prescription filled for my eye glasses. I went in and the woman in the optometry section where you purchase frames and such, asked for my insurance. She typed it in, and could not find me in their system. She put in my SS# and STILL could not locate me. I called out my Medicare ID # and low and behold, it came up, WITH A TOTAL STRANGER'S NAME IN IT. I can not reach anyone by phone to address this problem. I have texted for the last time. I am now going to call Medicare and let me handle this very serious Identity problem. read more

Wife is getting cataract surgery and several prep visits have been done for surg but each time have to wait average of 1 1/2 hrs to even be seen and taken to the exam room for an established schedule. Then an other 30 min for the dr to show up to the room. read more

My mom and I were going to be new patients after a three-month wait for an opening appointment in Conroe. The day before the appointment, I got a phone call that they didn't have a referral for me. It was sent in August; I had to have it resent. Then they said they received it and they would see us in Huntsville. I called Conroe! I do not live in Huntsville!!! I told them it was supposed to be Conroe, and I never requested Huntsville, and I would not be driving that far. I was told it would be another two months or longer. With the office being so very unprofessional, we have decided to go somewhere else. I would hate to have this Eye Clinic in charge of my eyesight. One of avery's doctors did cataract surgery on my right eye and predicted my vision would get better soon afterward although it kept getting worse. I scheduled an appointment with Avery's Dr. linn for a second opinion After waiting almost two months i arrived for the appointment. Was told by the receptionist that I had a copay of $30 I did not have any cash or credit cards on me but told the receptionist that if Dr. linn would go ahead and see me I would run home afterward and return with the $30 After consulting with Dr. LINN the receptionist returned and informed me in a rude manner and in front of others in the waiting area that Dr. Linn would not see me without the $30 This is a prime example of well known doctor greed. Refusing to see a patient who is rapidly losing his eyesight all over $30 is a horrible commentary on this doctor as well as Avery Eye Clinic. read more

While I no expert in how Doc`s review the patience purely based on experience my wife who is diabetic always gets her annual eye exam done on the eye insurance we have. At Avery after the exam they told me they need to charge me on my medical insurance since she is diabetic and not on the eye insurance we have, which I found funny since its an annual eye exam. Ended up paying approx. 300 USD from out of pocket whereas it should have been covered in the eye insurance. All my family wears glasses and I will be very mindful in case I have to return to this place. read more

I was there for check up, nurse was very gentle and listening to my concerns, but dr Ourlaw was rushing and did not even tell me the name of my diagnosis, when I asked questions how to improve my conditions she just said with my prescriptions nothing helps, did not she bother to name of the diagnosis because I am not white American ? she probably thought I would not understand medical description, she also did not mention anything about my dry eyes, however she put the her suggestions into my chart, but nothing was mentioned to me in the office. After eye drops for numbing I could not see anything and they did not bother to offer me dark glasses that they had, I had not idea about their existence and had to wait in my car almost an hour in the parking lot. tried to call their office and talk to nurse but no answer, had to go back office and then only they offered my dark glasses. Nothing was mentioned about the concequences. DO NO GO THERE!!!! read more

The professionalism at this place is a joke. Never mind that they quit doing eye exams and didn't notify their patient, but sent a bill 3 years later. When questioning Taylor about why it took 3 years, her response was "ya no clue". Great answer for a business. Don't waste your time. read more

I called to asked if they deal with scleral contact lens for keratoconus, I was told yes they do, plus I have been referred by several people, and they are in network. made appt had appt, called to order medical records from last dr, not in network they did cataract surgery, wonderful place hr plus drive from my home. i just got a call from avery eye clinic Conroe tx, they told me they do not deal with scleral lens, I have wasted a yr eye exam now i have to pay out of pocket. most placed will not just take your RX without wanted to exam you them selves... read more

A very nice facility. Clean waiting areas, clean rooms, clean restrooms, and they have a Keurig coffee machine with coffee in the first waiting area. The initial wait was only 10 minutes and that included filling out new patient paperwork. The wait in the second area was entirely too long at over an hour before Dr. Lin actually sees you. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and helpful. read more

Called and made an appointment for our daughter six weeks ago. Her appointment was today at 220 pm. They just called us and cancelled because they don't accept her insurance. When we called to make the appointment we asked three times if they accept the insurance and we're told yes all three times. Don't waste your time at this place they don't even know what insurance they take and which ones they don't. read more

While I feel like Dr. Lin is thorough (the reason for 3 stars), the amount of time you have to wait is inexcusable. My mother is being treated for glaucoma (the most rarest kind) so her options aren't extensive. But we have to wait anywhere from 2.5-4 hrs while being here. If you have the opportunity to see someone else then I would definitely go elsewhere. Otherwise, bring a book, something to eat and drink and plan on your morning or afternoon sitting in the waiting room. Staff is nice but you can tell they have been dealing with unhappy patients for a long time. Dr. Lin should be more concerned with her patients approval rating than the amount of money she earns. read more

For the second year in a row they told my wife she had a $25 copay to her insurance. She paid. Problem is we have never had a copay with our vision insurance and this is a repeat issue. Truth known they do it on purpose and hope you don't challenge. And don't even think about calling because no one ever answers. If you do speak to someone you have to raise hell to get results. What sets me off is that I am capable of challenging them and getting corrective action but think about the elderly and naive that just pay and don't know otherwise. So I ask if they do this in the front office what do they do in the back office with your eyes? read more

My experience with Dr. Baptist Dejean was an ordeal to say the least. Went in for my bulging eye, due to Graves. He did the surgery and it ruined my eye. I cannot close my eye completely, and it's always gummy, and runny. I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. He's nice but beware of any surgery he does on you. read more

My new prescription is very off for distance. If you know how to get someone from Avery to return a call, please let me know. They have owed me a refund for several months now (even though I have asked several times that it be mailed to me), so I assume they are just going to keep my money. I believe the Doctors at Avery Eye Clinic are phenomenal. The staff working at the checkout desk however are not very professional. When I say staff, I am only referring to one individual. She seems to be on a high horse and acts like she runs the show. The lady I was speaking with first is a very kind and pleasant woman, while I was speaking with her about what my copay would be, this other entitled individual chimed in and decided what my copay would be (not even running my insurance) and after speaking with Dr. Wilkerson about seeing him for my follow up in The Woodlands, she decided she would tell me when and who I would see for my follow up appointment. Basically this girl needs to have a little more training on customer service and how to talk to people. Do not smirk or laugh at people when they talk to you, your behavior is inexcusable. I will not be going back to this clinic only because of this one individual. It's amazing how one bad impression can affect someone's overall decision. read more
