The Brigantine location was very accommodating and tried to help him so he wouldn't have to drive all the way over to Margate - so shout out to them for their service! You can't beat the rolls here! That's for sure. However, their chicken cutlet sandwich could use a little bit of work. It's just such a thick cutlet that you feel like you're going to break your jaw when you try to bite into the sandwich lol. Especially when they stack the cutlets on top of each other. Aversa's is so much more than just an Italian bakery- it's a great Italian take out spot. Don't overlook this place while in Margate. Now, we definitely love the baked goods at Aversa's. It's our go to spot for pastries, cakes, cookies, and pies. And cannolis too of course! Speaking of cannolis, their cannoli cake has to be one of my favorite cakes EVER. I've traveled across the country and have lived in New York and LA and still crave their cannoli cake wherever I find myself. I love being at home in margate just so I can get a slice- yes they sell slices.... But don't let that stop you from just grabbing the entire cake! Their mascarpone is always the correct level of sweetness without being overbearing. If you are interested in more Italian classics, try the ricotta cheesecake. That's another standout. Different from the classic New York style cheesecake but no less impressive or rich in flavor. If it isn't obvious, we are huge fans of the baked goods. But like I said, Aversa's is more than it's name suggests. They have excellent hot food options and subs. You can grab a ready made meal from the window or order ahead. We had them cater a family gathering recently and the entire table was impressed. My mom always gushes about their meatballs tasting like her grandmother used to make. Pop into Aversa's margate location for great food and pastries. Friendly staff providing top notch service too! Just note that this location is take out only. It's a small shop without seating. And just be advised that street parking can get tricky in a summertime margate. There is no parking lot. But worth your while. Enjoy! read more

I had not been to Aversa's in years so when I went to a Mother's Day brunch in Margate I was so happy it was near Aversa's. I decided to get their white cream donuts, I remember how good they were. Went again the next day and got the same. I thought maybe it was me which is why I went the next day. The filling tasted like Crisco, had a bad smell and left a residue like oil on my fingers. Isn't what I remembered. The donut was awesome but the filling not too good. read more

The food kept in the enclosed and refrigerated sections is generally good, but despite living just a half block from Aversa's, we can no longer shop there. The rolls, donuts, and pastries are displayed with no covering and it's quite revolting to see flies landing on them. Why can't Aversa's simply keep these items in plastic bins like they do in Casel's or any other fine store? Or even keep the items covered with plastic? Anything would be an improvement over the exposure of the rolls, donuts, etc. to flies. Please do consider this suggestion. We can't possibly be the only customers put off by the flies landing on the foods. Thank you for considering our recommendation. It'd be wonderful to shop at Aversa's since it's so close to our home, but we will not until the items are protected. read more

it's probably a four star place for down the shore but in my philly/ south jersey view i gotta give it 3. The pros are that it's clean, has a ton of options, pretty quick service and conveniently located. My cons are that I ordered a sandwich the venice which has chicken cutlets, red peppers, broccoli rabe and sharp provolone and although i did eat the whole thing, the bread was extremely hard like not just the crust even the inside was pretty tough, the cutlets were ICE cold and it was good but pretty dry and I don't know it was in the part of the menu that it was positioned right next to the chicken parm so while i wasn't 100% sure it was gonna be warm as i hoped I definitely was taken aback a bit when O realized just how cold it was. Like I eat hoagies relatively often and I doubt have ever had one in recent memory that was this cold. The chicken cutlets I couldn't tell if they were dry and overcooked or it was just because they were so cold. All I am saying it would be nice if the menu said hot or cold. It was written in red next to the park so I sort of thought it was gonna be warm but maybe it was my mistake. I still would consider going back their prepared foods section looked good and I may try a chicken parm and see what that's like and the temperature. I am next too optimistic buying food down the sure so whatever but I sort of wish I would have just went to white house or a pizza place where i could have gotten something warm cause it just happened to be freezing out the day O went. read more

Awesome Italian bakery! The donuts and pastries are amazing ... particularly the cream filled doughnut. It is almost cut in half and then packed full with fluffy vanilla buttercream like I've never tasted before. We also tried their meatballs and some other Italian specialties. Very well done... I heard good things about this place but would not go back. Macaroni salad was so bitter I don't know how anyone could eat it. Also got a sub with breaded eggplant which was mostly all breading and very little eggplant and a sub with chicken cutlets which had very little chicken on it and very little bruschetta.
